piu is the bms of dance games lol

timing doesnt matter and all the charts are overly difficult trashgarbage

if you unironically think pump it up is a -better- game than ddr, in terms of objectively comparing scoring, timing, charts, visual design, etc. you are south american or korean

>>17144835
you have to be good enough that you can comfortably play at least, like, somewhere in the 7-10 range. and then you have to not be so good that you can clear a 12 and feel anything other than pure elation at clearing a 12. once you care about your scores on 11s and 12s it's fuckin over

It's normally twice as wide, but VJ is an option to bring the windows in line with DDR's. DDR's Great window is even split in two for better performance breakdown (it's normally around 90ms compared to Perfect's 30ms). No Marvelous equivalent hurts, but it's only a problem when you're grinding easy shit for extra accuracy.
>all the charts are overly difficult trashgarbage
Nice hyperbole. Pump has a variety of both good and trash charts, just like DDR. Nobody forces you to play the hardest ones either. There's only a handful of players in the world who can do decently well on DDR 19s, but you don't see anyone other than scrubs complain about them.

I'm not going to claim Pump is better than DDR, but your dismissive attitude is wrong.

I take it Normal rank is the IIDX equivalent?
>>
>>17157749
The pgreat window is about the same size but the late great window in the bms normal judge is like double as large.

The pgreat windows in bms and iidx don't differ that much but the great window differences are the reason why lr2 is so much easier to acc.
>>
>>17157764
Even if the "size" isn't very different, the fact that it isn't frame rounded makes it feel 50%. That's why "Hard" PGREAT is technically smaller than IIDX's 2 frame PGREAT, but it's still somewhat easier.

>>
>>17157812
The second half or so is different in each.
>>
>>17157809
What do you mean by frame rounding?

The only difference that there should be is that the iidx timing window is offset quite a lot so the early window for pgreat is much larger than the late window, but if you compare iidx running on a perfect setup and lr2 it should be that you get about the same amount of pgreats with normal as you would get in iidx.

>What do you mean by frame rounding?
All notes and timing windows in IIDX are quantized to frames at 60 Hz. This is what gives rise to the "perfect BPMs" often referenced in DDR (prior to A) and IIDX, where the spacing between notes happen to be a consistent integer number of frames. Beats (that are already rounded to milliseconds) are rounded to frames based on the FPS found at the monitor check, and this results in imprecise note locations, meaning there is effectively a lot of jitter to the timing window.

BMS uses a format similar to StepMania where notes are placed using quarter/eighth/sixteenth/triplet/etc. notes tied to measures and the BPM, so the windows are calculated on the fly and compared against input timestamps.

>the iidx timing window is offset quite a lot so the early window for pgreat is much larger than the late window
I don't think this is actually true anymore, at least not in the LDJ era. I remember experimentally verifying this, though I didn't bother looking at the exact code to verify the values. That "authority" on IIDX timing windows that I'm sure you're referencing might be outdated by now.

Do bad hits count against your accurac, like the ones when you press a key on an empty lane.

The score counts greats and rainbow greats, but is the percentage calculated from your score with best possible score being 100%, or does it count all your notes and divide which means bad notes also detract?

There's nothing outlandish in that chart for a DDR 19. None of those 16th streams were sustained. Of course being a difficult chart and without wacky gimmicks like having streams of crossovers at 600 BPM or BPM ranges from 50 to 850 and littered with stops is a foreign concept to DDR.

I know you lads don't have VR headsets, but Airtone is fucking incredible.

2D videos can't really do it justice. It looks like your typical lane-based rhythm game, but it feels like dancing. Unlike crap like Audioshield, it has handmade, well-designed charts, and a difficulty scale much closer to an arcade game. If you ever get a chance to try a Rift/Vive for a few hours, this is the game to play.

Use a program like Notepad++ to change all .bms and .bme files at once, from the root directory of your BMS library. Use the global search and replace feature to have it look for anything that isn't "#RANK=2" and change it to that value. Don't search on *.bm* because it will try to look through .bmp files.

official site for taiko game on ps4. I dont like the new UI desu, but pretty hype still. Been years since taiko was on a sony home console.

http://taikotime.blogspot.com/2017/06/taiko-no-tatsujin-session-de-dodon-ga.html
You can find the song list here. these are only the songs that have been confirmed, but there could be more coming along.

From what it appears the game is going to let you play with a fake player, hence doraemon.

Pretty hype for this tatacon though. it's gonna connect through USB so it can be mapped to play on PC on simulators like taikojiro.

However, I don't know if you've nerve damage or not. I'd guess you might have "just" a nerve pinch, and/or carpal tunnel. Go see a doctor if you can and for goodness' sake stop abusing your hands.
