I'd say 50/50. Depends on how much romanji you can learn in a span of 2 years of intensive RTK grinding.

Today I realized I had quite a large number of suspended cards. I've been studying the 2K/6K deck for a few months and I didn't know anything about leeches or suspended cards. Couldn't find anything in the guide about it either, so I looked up how they work. I asked for advice in the last thread but I didn't get any replies so I just unsuspended all of them and went through them like normal. Downside of this is that I'll probably have 100 extra cards due tomorrow, but I guess I'll manage.

For future reference however, what's a good way to go about this? Is going through any and all suspended cards after my daily studying session a good idea? Should I just disable the leech feature if possible?

You can up the number of lapses before things get marked leeches. Personally I never suspend anything as all the vocab has some use and I want to learn. Some people will choose a different way to learn things that get marked leeches rather then continuously lasping them in hopes they'll stick.

のち is pretty common, probably more so than うしろ for the lone kanji (since that's normally 後ろ). It's often not possible to tell whether the author meant あと or のち without furigana.

which I assume is the predecessor of the one you're asking about. They're interesting and have many options like a mini dictionary for all kanji and their meanings, however you should keep in mind these are for japanese, and everything including the explanations is in japanese so definitely not for beginners.

Do you guys have a New Interval set that isn't 0%? I'm not sure if it makes sense going through all repetitions again for a card you knew pretty well, but it had such a big intervall that it just happened to not be on your mind in that moment. I'm thinking about setting it to 10% so a 300 day interval only becomes a 30 day interval if I fail it. This should reduce my workload by a bit. Thoughts?

It doesn't take that long to take the Kanken though. I mean the 10級 only needs knowledge of 80 kanji and a few compounds here and there.
However around 4級 it starts getting tricky with all the 四字熟語 and stuff. Studying up to 2級 is fine, after then not even nips dare to try. Also while studying kanji in that order is beneficial due to them being arranged in some frequency order it's certainly time consuming before you get to some "useful" ones. So mixing them is the best if someone tries that route and sadly the workload is doubled everyday. Diligence is a must.

So I decided to pick up my first VN after reading Yotsuba (Satsukoi), but it's a lot more overwhelming than I thought it would be. My understanding of what's being said is a lot more vague, and I probably completely misinterpreted some parts. You can use a reader to help you. Software that gives you a dictionary definition of a word or phrase when you hover over it to help understand a sentence.

This assumes you already have a good grammar base. If you encounter a grammar structure you don't understand you can look it up in a Grammar dictionary. The djt website has a good one.

If this doesn't work, I suggest translated images on boorus. The hard part there is having to search words on your own.

You should try to understand stuff but you don't want to spend forever on a line either. Use your own judgement. You can also post lines here that are grating you in particular, but make sure to also insert the sentences that come before and after it for proper context.

Having a spot of trouble the the display stats feature on both Anki and Ankidroid. The issue is that when I set the readout to show one month, it only shows last month and not a new month. Now, when it is set to show a year or the total life of the deck, it shows the full amount.

The deck is very young. These are the following read outs:
One Month

My study has been really off and on. I'd say under a year and a half of actual studying that happened in a 3 year period. When I'm actually studying it's a minimum of an hour a day and sometimes it goes up to 4 or more. Depends on how much fun I'm having with my target material and my available time.

When sending a word to Anki with Rikaisama, it doesn't send the audio.

The save format is $d$t$r$t$n$t[sound:$a] like it says in the guide. I'm also using the template provided in the guide. Everything else but the audio gets added to the card without a problem.

What am I doing wrong?

So I'm able to understand the gist of sentences, but I can't help but feel I'm missing out on the nitty gritty stuff I need to learn.

For example, in yotsubato chapter 9, she says this sentence:

"分かった。死んでも...生きて帰る。"

Now, I figured the gist, but the only conjugation I understand is the first one, past tense. Is 死ん some conjugation on it's own, paired with でも for "if"? Or it is some conjugation together, expressing a conditional?

I assume that the 生きて帰る is some manner of -te form, in which the first verb can be mostly anything, but describes the state of returning? Here it would be "alive, will return", but it could easily be something like "早くて帰りる” to mean "will return quickly".

Am I way off base here, or?

Really depends on what you're studying. If it's only vocabulary, it does feel a bit slow. I don't need more than an hour for a couple hundred vocabulary reviews with 20-40 new cards a day. What really helped me get my retention up (and through that my speed as there were less cards each day) was increasing the amount of steps for new and failed cards. I also practice reproducing Kanji from memory with Anki though and that takes longer because you need to draw for every review. Whether that's a sensible time investment depends on how much time you have. Provided you have enough free time to actually put to use what you learn, by reading or watching something or talking to someone, then it really doesn't matter how long you do Anki. It's just that a lot of people lose track of their goal and fall into some kind of Anki addiction, forgetting that Anki is not the end goal and if you do nothing but Anki it will result in you not being able to do anything but Anki.

What do you learn japanese for, /jp/? I learn it to sate my autism. I started out with a real reason (rereading FSN) but that ended up being just a small part of my real reason to learn the language.

Approximately what level (by any metric be it JLPT or being able to understand another work) do I need to be in order to properly understand SubaHibi in Japanese? Also, should I read the stuff it references? Or does it fail to incorporate all borrowed material in a way that's not first year high school level lit student tier?

I wanted to study something "interesting" like japanese, russian, or chinese in highschool, but the most interesting language they had available was Latin, and the teacher for it was a prude. If anyone can help me out, my mining deck all of the sudden started to give me recently added cards as new words today even though it still has over a thousand unseen words that were added way before that should have taken priority.

kanji study -> (memorizing words -> (reading -> (listening)))

the further to the left you are the more time you're wasting

"memorizing words" is basically the furthest out you can go and still have it make sense

Reading is a function of many things, not only vocab. Also, reading a word in context is far better for memory than learning it in isolation through anki. Even anki's manual which links to the old supermemo guide, says to understand before you memorize. If you're just brute forcing the memorization you're not really understanding all the nuance to the word.

While watching anime, i noticed that japanese "intonation" is pretty similar to western. I dont speak a word in japanese, but i can tell if a line was a question, a sarcastic mockery, a worried concern, etc.

I find it fascinating. Unless its something the japs picked up from other languages over the years, some linguistic concepts evolved in completely different places.
