How are the ratings on clickagain determined?

I've been using it to try and break into 9's.
>>
>>16532003
Since it's 9s, they just use the clickagain ratings for lots of them.

Go for 9.0s like yoshida san or medicine of love.
>>
>>16532039
No, I was asking if the ratings on clickagain are determined subjectively by random people rating it or if there's some other metric they use to divide songs into x.x difficulties

>>

Oh, that's pretty neat.
>>
>sows unironically defend and duckride Kyle Ward

lol?
>>
>>16534221
But why. N-1 and even less songs than our data due to the expired licenses. Can't even play gentle stress.
If they released SDVX IV there would at least be some incentive, but with this you'd just be paying more for less.
Controller looks pretty nice, though.
>>
>>16534406
>But why
a large portion of the music game community (maybe not sdvx players...) are adults with plenty of disposable income who would pay for these games if given the chance
>>
>>16534423
It's just silly given that this probably came about due to lots of people playing data. You're not gonna stop piracy by providing an inferior version/service.
Giving people access to something they don't have is a pretty strong incentive. And most people, as far as sows is concerned, don't currently have any way of playing SDVX IV.
>>
>>16534583
>And most people, as far as sows is concerned, don't currently have any way of playing SDVX IV

ZEPH is a pretty mean 11, and Pendulums [h] is retarded, you can probably do a lot more than the entry levels lol

MIRACLE MEETS, COLOSSEUM, Halfway of promise, Take It Easy, Harmony and Lovely, PENDUAL TALISMAN, 全力 SPECIAL VACATION!! ~限りある休日~, Love Is Eternity, refractive index, Destiny Sword, マインド・ゲーム, Erosion Mark, BROKEN EDEN, Empire State Glory, Rock Da House, AFRO KNUCKLE... that should be a good list to get you started.

People usually put KEY, R5, 仮想空間の旅人たち, DAWN -THE NEXT ENDEAVOUR-, and Cosmic Cat in the "entry level 11" category, and while they're easy I wouldn't say they're entry level. But if you're doing Pendulums then you can probably do them, and probably like half of the 11s folder

>-Crashes quite often

Literally right there. Java is an unoptimized pile of shit
>>
>>16537337
Modern Java with it's JIT compiler is performant, and "optimization" has nothing to do with how often something crashes. If anything, a low-level language like C would leave more room for error, while being faster.

It's not like a beat game is very CPU intensive, so it doesn't matter that much if Java isn't fast. Have you noticed lag or stuttering or anything when playing beatoraja?

Unrelated but I just tried it with a bme file and it worked

That's just his annoying friends hyping him up. KAC is this weekend.
>>
>>16537326
I have two. They're OK. The biggest issue is that the switches are hard soldered onto the wires, so if you ever reach a point where a switch dies and you need to replace it, you'll need to use a soldering iron to remove and replace it. You could put in quick connectors on everything so that you don't have to worry about that.

The physical dimensions are too small to permit Sanwa keys to ever be put in, but that's probably not a concern for someone who is looking to save money.

I liked how loose the turntables are.

Of course they do. Girls will laugh at your back and if you dare to stare back they'll knock you down and stomp on your dick with their heels. If you're a girl they'll rip your shirt and tease your nipples in front of everyone.

There's no shame in failing a song in IIDX, but there is shame on lowering the game's strict standards

While it's true that Bemani/Konami are shit companies, the games are still arguably legitimate especially nowadays with so many good talented artists competing to get a song into the newest releases. If you were Japanese with the nearest arcade having good access to the game, you wouldn't care what foreigners think or want, either.

With this said. It does not forgive them for being generally shit developers. The games basically never change, and while to an extent that's understandable, Bemani games are nonetheless stagnant, and Japanese society in general is conservative, and as a result, until new competition comes along, there will be nothing new, ever.

And in regards to pirating, it's not that different from the west. Probably stricter, but that's what you get dealing with Japs. Breaking laws is absolutely kinshi and yurusan. Law is almost completely objective.

>>16544066
Good on you it's allright. There's much more out there, though. just saying.

Expand your horizons a bit and you'll find yourself a bit more satisfied, I think.
>>
>>16543835
You're totally wrong laws in Japan. It's more like 'laws on the books' and 'laws which are enforced'. Pirating is mostly just on the books unless you're a serious dealer or get unlucky during some sting operation.

And there's plenty of attempts at newness in the overall music game genre (SDVX, Chunithm, Museca, Beatstream, Crossbeats, etc. all within the past 5 years).
>>

What the hell needs to change? They're rhythm games. You mash inputs in sync with music.
>>
>>16544249
>What the hell needs to change?
>in sync
Well, for starters, the games should stop having frame-based timing windows.
>>
>>16544481
Why
>>
>>16544578
different anon but because it leads to stupid shit like songs being easier or harder to time depending on their bpm (because there are certain magic bpms where beat boundaries align precisely with frame boundaries)
>>
>>16544605
this isn't true anymore
>>
>>16544481
How else would you sync games then
>>
>>16544610
It is absolutely still true.

>>16544638
With an effective polling rate greater than 60 Hz. Quantized alignment is fine as long as the granularity is relatively small compared to the timing windows themselves. In IIDX, for example, a 2 frame PGREAT window with 1 frame of "jitter" due to frame rounding means half of the timing window is inconsistent depending on the BPM, and that's annoying.
>>
You know what IIDX needs?

A song where there's one long hell charge backspin for the entire track

I'm someone who clears and FCs 10 star onis in my sleep and I still genuinely don't get why people who play actually advanced and dexterous games like iidx or pop'n can have trouble with taiko.

I get that it's a different type of physical movement with a different type of note highway but bemani has a much higher skill ceiling and making the jump from bemani to taiko should be much easier than doing the opposite.
>>
>>16544647

Chris is on par with FEFEMZ on Period, and was WR on VD and has one great on Egoism 440 Challenge. Not sure about PRev, but he can definitely make up for any EX score loss with Egoism or any of the half-dozen or so high-end 18s where he has a death grip on the WR of.

>>
Is SDVX easy to sightread? These charts look cluttered as fuck. Or is it just the shitty stream resolution?
>>
>>16548463
I don't think most people would sightread it at that speed.

Generally it's not too hard to sightread SDVX except for the gimmicky charts. It's all about recognising patterns like any other rhythm game, just with more input methods.

It's not dishonest to believe that nobody should write proprietary software, as long as I believe that "software freedom" is more important than the ability of people/companies to make money by selling software licenses (the most profitable way of making money from consumer software). If someone believed this, they can say with complete integrity that proprietary software should be banned. I don't know if I believe this, so I don't know if proprietary software should be banned. I never did say that though, only that I wouldn't use proprietary software.

From a consumer perspective, a Free (as in freedom, not beer) Software license is superior in all respects to a proprietary license (ignoring for now the copyleft vs permissive debate). It's true that currently proprietary games are usually better quality than freedomware games, I'm just saying that all else being equal, freedomware is better than proprietary software. As a consumer, I want to encourage Free Software and discourage proprietary software, which is why I won't install proprietary rhythm games.

I should also disclose where I'm being hypocritical. I hope it doesn't weaken my argument too much.
- I play (pirated) proprietary nukige sometimes
- I have a few proprietary games on my computer like EFZ that I might possibly play in the future
Sometimes I worry that I might just believe in Free Software because it's convenient to me (not too much personal disposable income). I guess I'll see when I have independent finances if I'll just stop caring and buy a bunch of proprietary games.

tl;dr: I think that proprietary licenses infringe on my freedom, to be consistent with this I need to avoid proprietary software. My goal isn't to make software unprofitable. It would be great for me if software became more profitable (in business models not requiring restrictive licenses), since it would make it easier for companies to move away from proprietary software.

>>16563176
alright how would you rather write a letter

by holding a piece of graphite in your hand or by using a quality pen

the graphite is playing iidx on keyboard and the pen is an asc
>>
>>16563016
It just isn't as fun. The movement is not as varied. The scratch is nothing but two buttons on kb. There is no difficulty in different patterns, as you don't have to learn as many finger "stances".

an example: scratch+1+3 is harder to do on controller than 1+3+5, at least for me, due to the fact you pretty much have to move your right thumb to 3 (if playing 1048 and 1P). On keyboard, it is almost the same as 1+3+5. The only difficulty arises from distinguishing the notes and pressing them on time, unlike with an asc. The extra layer of difficulty, and thus an extra layer of learning and fun, disappears. I'd say that the scratch and how it affects the gameplay is one of the fundamental sources of fun in the game. Without that added element, it would be just like all of the other vsrgs out there.

In addition to that, I think the buttons also play a big part in these types of games. The feel is completely different than on a keyboard. Of course, one could argue that with some types of keyboards, the feel is good too, but there's something about the controller that just feels... better.

Now that's not to say that the game can't be perfectly good fun with a keyboard, it's just that I'd take a controller over keyboard any day, even if it meant I'd be worse in the game. As someone who played lr2 a bit before making my own controller, I can say that the difference is huge. It really is a whole other game.

>>16563203
Writing letters with a quality pen over graphite is better for a different reason than playing with an asc is better than playing with a keyboard.

it's ok, but kinda meh. It doesn't make justice to the way turning knobs actually feels.
You should absolutely try it, though. And while you're at it, you might want to try LR2 with a keyboard, as I feel it translates to kb play better. Not to say that the controller isn't way better for that, too, as it totally is.
But I think both are at least good to try if you have no access to a controller.

Dude, I don't know, I've only played on my self-built controller.
However, I've heard is that it's good.
Good upgrades that are worth it are IMO
-Omron switches, buy from sanwadenshi's rakuten store since they're cheaper there
-Better encoders than the cheapest ones. I use chinese 600 ppr ones in my diy controller and they're solid af. However, these aren't plug and play with the svse5, instead, you'd have to get copals from dj dao.

Also, if you have the time and access to woodworking tools, you might think about making your own controller. It really is not hard and it's quite fun, actually. Though with a svse5 it might not be that big of a saving, as my materials and tools alone cost about 100-120 €.

Well, actually those are pretty spot on for hole sizes. If you check this (chinese button) diagram, you can see that the only measurements fitting those rectangles in the previous picture are the button holes. The buttons won't fit wholly in those 29X46mm rectangles, but the parts that go inside the hole fit like a glove, as they're approximately 28.2X45.1mm rectangles. And seeing as sanwas pretty much have those same dimensions, that same point is true for them, too.
Key spacings (the space between the key's outer black areas) won't be that full 12mm shown in the diagram, which you can easily measure from any DAO controller or arcade. Instead, it's closer to 7-9 mm, which is pretty much what it would be if you assume those holes are the button holes (12mm-(33mm-29mm)).

Are there actually maimai machine outside of asia?

>>16567411
If you want a slightly more arcade-like home experience and also have access to sows(or somewhere else you can get data with), you might try a dual-mouse setup with whichever SDVX game, with left mouse horizontal movement controlling left laser and right controlling right, and m1+m2+mwheel for white and FX(or other buttons if you have them on your mouse). It kind of works, it's both more intuitive than using one mouse and a closer arcade feel than using pure keyboard in KSM. Unless you have high quality mice, though, you might suffer from a minor lack of accuracy a bit. I wouldn't expect to do 14+ lasers exceptionally well, but each play style has it's ups and downs, I guess.

Side note: To do slams, you've gotta move the mouse in the opposite direction then the direction of the slam first. Kind of confusing at first.

idk, i cleared in normal, as the game is supposed to be played, and cleared it with A on first try.
>>
>>16570670
Ryu, since his songs are all of the ones that are memes outside of music games. Second Heaven, AGEHA, bloomin' feeling, Sakura Reflection. However, maybe NAOKI because of DDR in general and RED ZONE as well.

Inside, fuck if I know. Every artist is hated by half the population, except I guess for SLAKE, TOTTO, kors k, and Humer so far. lapix too but he's not Konami.
>>
>>16570670
DJ Shimamura, RoughSketch, and others like M-Project are pretty popular in the J core and UK hardcore scene
>>
>>16570544
yeah its kind of sad, i feel like for its first appearance at kac people weren't too impressed with dp seeing low combos and comparatively weak scoring
>>
and on top of that, despite quell being the hardest chart on AC, it doesn't look like it at all to someone who's never played dp before

they really shouldve picked something like quantum teleportation or almagest
>>
I guess freeleech really was cancelled. Thanks, Corin!

jk, I already have everything I want from your silly site
>>
>>16571247
People can't tell it's hard when top 0layrrs previously crushing on the hardest songs in SP are failing majestically on DP?

I guess it being less dense makes it less exciting or something.
>>
>>16571296
I mean, it's not like people are watching KAC to see people fail. Even if they're actually doing really well score-wise, it just looks bad.
>>
Honestly putting corin in charge was one of the worst things to happen to pigsite in a while.

What are the lines like for IIDX at a Round 1? Can you just walk up to it, or do you have to wait a few minutes?
>>
>>16571312

At the risk of infuriating >>16563594, I feel like it's somewhat like a tractor pull. People aren't going to those things to see those mechanical monstrosities triumph over the weights they are attempting the pull. They go to see these impossibly expensive, impossibly powerful vehicles pull heavier and heavier loads until they meet their limitations and fail spectacularly.

It's intriguing to see something so mighty and seemingly invincible be brought down. Likewise, it's interesting to see all these great IIDX players be put in their place by a level of play even higher still.
>>
>>16571363
When DP is finally conquered, they should add dancing pads to the machines so we can have triple play and dance while doing DP.

I wonder what comes even after that though.
>>
>>16571382
buttons you hit with your dick

and also a kinect or some dmx style hand sensors

Just bring back Keyboardmania And throw a couple turntables on there
>>
>>16571346
In my experience, nonexistent. Nobody plays IIDX.
>>
>>16571276
More like thanks to that one random faggot who decided to ask about it

Not that I need anything I have all the data I want
>>
>>16571346
The one time I went I had to wait for at most one person to finish their song, but that day one of the machines was apparently down.
>>
>>16570452
Scoring is a fucking nightmare on DP, especially if you're playing without warmups which is what all the top rankers had to do. Imagine your first set of the day opening with Long Train Runnin' (highest number of scratches in the franchise), Quell (arguably one of the hardest songs in the game and has an extremely low clear rate), and Jomanda (nasty BPM changes). All three are obscenely hard to clear and even tougher to score on.
>>
>>16571237
From the stream it seemed like the crowd was pretty impressed.
>>
Daiuchuu stage is coming to Museca. I can see the chart already.
>>
Sound Voltex player here, is there any private e-amusement servers to hook up to and if not does anyone know how to go around building one like Project Flower? I'm getting sick of K-Shoot.

Also is IIDX Infinitas any good? Interested in the Sound Voltex PC game coming out but the rpice seems steep.

Damn, there's always at the least 2-6 people playing when i go

Then again i never went in the morning/early afternoon during the week, which is probably better

So, does anybody here have an idea on how to change DPemu's avatar?

Can't find the info anywhere (I only have GodTool, but it doesn't work for the avatar)
>>
>>16573665
When you say private, you know you have to be a part of private communities to be able to access those servers, right?

So, uh, asking if there are private servers is kind of redundant, don't you think? Since you'd have to be a member to be able to use it anyway.

But the only one I know of, aside from Ainsun as another anon said, is Programmed Sun(via bemanisows).
>>
>>16571346

Depends on where you are and what time/day it is. I live in Colorado, and our R1 is new enough that there isn't really a community built up yet, so whenever I head down I can pretty much monopolize a machine for the night. In places like California, where there are a lot of players, I've had to wait for multiple credits before I could get a game in. I would expect it to be busier on weekends and nights, and slower during weekdays (and empty during maint, not that you'd want to play then either.)
>>
>>16575900
pretty sure I have a friend that lives like a mile from that round 1, and he has no interest in rhythm gaming.. meanwhile the closest machine to me is a beat up iidx happy sky like a 4 hour drive away ;_;
>>
>>16576171

Same, i have a friend who lives in mass who once was like
"oh, round 1? that's an arcade like 5 minutes from my house, i've been there once i think"

meanwhile the closest iidx cab is 400 miles away from me, fucking why

>>
Denpa is the best thing to have happened to IIDX.
>>
>>16577314
死神自爆中二妹アイドルももかりん(1歳) has a good, fun SPA chart.
>>
>>16577322

Unironically one of my favorite songs in all of IIDX. Removing it in Sinobuz is a crime.
>>
>>16576670

>Guitar Hero and Rockband are casual trash.

I respectfully disagree. The very highest level of play in Guitar Hero (100%ing the hardest songs) is still quite impressive, even by Bemani standards. And I cann't speak on every part of the game but I've seen videos of the hardest drumming tracks in Rockband with the right setup that are but a notch or two below modern DM (3 cymbals, 3 toms, a snare, and 2 pedals).
Yeah, not having judgements on timing makes them casual-er, but those games do get hard by any standard.
>>
>>16577635

Y'know, it just occurred to me that it makes a difference how you measure the "casualness" of a game. Either from comparing highest level of play, or comparing average/median level of play. In the case of the latter, then yeah, those games probably are casual.
Take Tetris, for example. Tetris gets absolutely fucking insane, but the vast majority of players are probably just killing time waiting for a doctors appointment.
>>
>>16577559
Are you my cousin or something. Showed it to him ironically and he loved it.
>>
>>16577635
Problem is, didn't the games get easier and easier with each sequel?

Did GH ever get anything harder than Devil went down to Georgia? It seems that at the height of its popularity they kept raising the challenge but at some point they gave up and made it more casual.
>>
>>16577774

It's odd. I'm not a fan or metal and I'm not a fan of denpa, but put 'em together and it just strikes all the right notes with me.
>>
>>16576670
My Summer Love has such a piss easy chart. They rated it 12 but I feel it's two or maybe even three levels too high.
>>
>>16551590
The problem is: in a capitalist world, competition will always make situations where the manipulation of things you can find in nature (in this case, math and logic to make a program) are so high-level it's impossible to make it without money. Now, how can a group starting from 0 can compete with big companies? I know it's not fair but capitalism is like this since the ending of middle age and every attempt to change it failed miserably.

Like, I understand that free software is a nice thing, but how can we translate it to an age where companies have billions in cash to spend?

Anyway, nice of you for being nice [I really hate the autists on /g/].
>>
>>16577667
You can also go by gameplay depth but probably all rhythm games would be casual by that measure.
>>
>>16577635
>>16577667

playerbase average is the most accurate measure i think

if someone says to you "oh yeah the only music games i really like are guitar hero and rock band" chances are they don't do anything better than score decently on expert

if someone says "oh yeah my favorite music games are iidx and pop'n" and they're not a girl you know they're probably pretty good
>>
>>16578850

I don't know anon, if a girl told me their favorite game was pop'n there's a decent chance they're actually good at it

iidx obviously not though
>>
Any of you guys ever attempted to play Sound Voltex on a keyboard? Or even a PS3 controller?

Did you ever managed to program the laser knobs to something that wasn't the mouse axes?
>>
tfw met a cutie on Grindr who liked rhythm games but he was just visiting
>>
>>16579200
It only accepts analog input. Keyboards are digital input. PS3 joysticks are analog input.

You should be able to figure this out, /jp/ is not pirated software tech support.
>>
>>16579200
If keyboard, play k shoot
If controller, write software that maps controller input to mouse input
Or, you know, go ask your personal rhythm game support somewhere else instead of shitting up this thread
