I can't say I've been to many US cities, and I haven't lived there since I was 3, but I would venture Tokyo is a more interesting city to live in than Los Angeles or San Francisco. I haven't been to the East Coast, but from what I understand New York is nicer than LA or SF. I doubt I would like it as much as Japan though because Japans history and mythology is much more interesting than American history.
