General original content/drawthread for /jp/sies. You may use this thread to contribute your works or to share ideas related to possible projects. Anything OC is welcomed; including drawings, writings, music, and programming. Kaokuma Edition.
This. I wish OPs could still delete their threads so I could suggest OP do it.
And seriously, don't go making these threads so often because you're used to constant generals and impatient. Give people a chance to make something. At this rate, someone's going to try to make a new thread as soon as this one hits the age limit.
I've been working on the last chapter of my webcomic this week and this is one of the pages I'm doing up right now.
The whole thing is done in chicken scratch so a lot of people are probably already turned off from looking at this rough style.
One of the things I enjoyed when drawing this is drawing normal western school uniforms. All I ever see drawn are the cute Japanese style uniforms. Even though they're cuter, the normal uniforms I've seen in my own life caters to my fetish better.
Any game devs around? How should I approach making a (touhou) roguelike? I have no previous game dev experience. I know a bit of software programming.
Should I just go for GameMaker, or go for something ridic like Unity? I could to learn C# on the go.
I don't want to do everything from scratch because I also want to use sounds, graphics etc. in previously unseen ways (for roguelikes).
>I'd like to think we're more productive than that.
This is /jp/. It's not a historically productive board and only a handful of regulars usually post in these threads. Most of them tend to just be posts arguing or 'discussing' something, with the quantity of non-artwork posts increasing depending on how soon the thread was made.
>How should I approach making a (touhou) roguelike?
By not doing it or modding an existing one. I hear unity is easy and a lot of people seem to be using it nowadays, so you should probably go with that if you really feel the need to make yet another roguelike.
>I also want to use sounds, graphics etc. in previously unseen ways (for roguelikes).
Like what? Every variation on a roguelike has been done. Are you actually going to draw every sprite you need for graphics when you could make an image of letters and use that?
Go look up tutorials and libraries that can do what you want.
Thanks, I guess I'll try Unity even though it's quite heavy for something so simplistic.
I've drawn a bunch of sprite grafix for Dwarf Fortress and Space Station 13 before, so that wouldn't be a problem even though it would be a time sink. I was initially thinking just using letters and unicode though. Then maybe some graphics stills for mini-bosses, kinda like when you meet some in Nuclear Throne.
Well, I guess "I know a bit of software programming" is a small understatement, I code 8 hours a day, wageslaving away. I'd like to avoid doing extraneous tedious code, just interesting stuff.
Thanks for tips, maybe I'll look at some AI and room-generation examples from Angband source.
Oh yeah, game's name would be
Yuugi's Crawl & Brawl.
Thank you for your kind words!
The closest I have is this Kill la Kill sprite that's roughly half the size and from 2014.
I did enjoy making it through, so I may make more but probably fan art since I'm too lazy to think of something original.
If you go with unity I'd be able to assist a little bit. It's grown into a very capable engine for both 2d and 3d stuff, so I highly recommend it.
It's also pretty simple to pick up and most importantly well documented.
As for room generation Unity works really well for additive / subtractive object based approaches. Essentially you create some key locations on a blank map and then move around some objects to spawn or erase tiles and place items and enemies by chance or simple logic. Its not as complicated an approach as proper algorythms, but it can yield varied and fun results with only a little tweaking here and there.
Another nice thing to do is to spawn from a palette of possible tiles. I.e. tiles are flagged 'grass' and then randomly decide if they will be of type 'dark grass' 'grass with flowers' 'long grass' or the like.
Anyway I'm not sure Im coming across well, so the tl;dr is: Just layer lots of simple transformations of spawn and delete instead of generating everything from one huge algorithm and you have a lot of flexibility and variety from many very small, easy to debug steps.
... I think I should save my advice for when I'm more awake...
I finished it and it was pretty bad. I mean it's not the worst music anyone's ever posted here, but it's almost seems like some sort of troll attempt but not quite that far.
Particularly at 2:05, it sounds like it's intended to play really loud and hurt ears.
I like the right one. The left one looks a bit too much like she has mental problems, unfortunately.
Both characters have the problem that their feet are smaller than their eyes. Their hands too. Which is a bit off-putting.
There was this old Indian man on a bus. I imagine him be little girl.
Hello everyone just an announcement
An anon from /ic/ has recently develop a "daily drawing challenge" website for anyone who want to practice, challenge themselves to get better at drawing/digital painting.
Here the link to the thread [Description and Rules]
Link to main site [Goes live in 10hr from this post]
If you care to join then good luck have fun.
Here's another one. It took me a long time to make the right loli on the bed to look somewhat acceptable. It was difficult connecting the right loli into a position after drawing the left loli first.
The left one that you said looked mentally ill is meant to be semi-autistic. I noticed I forgot to draw her nose, maybe that's why she looks extra derpy as well.
That hand does look way to small as well. Somethimes I spent so much time drawing parts that when I get the size wrong I just leave it.
They're meant to be characters from two different webcomics I'm working on.
I did a fair bit of modding for Dominions/Conquest of Elysium since.
Just to bump the thread
Is this original content if I didn't draw the assets used to make this? Meaning I didn't draw/create the background and didn't draw/create the airplane.
I do but you won't really find in it this kind of stuff.
I tried this week, /jp/. Sorry if it's too girly.
Wait, this is not a sketch, but the final thing? If so, yeah, no wonder people would be turned off by it.
At least some color underneath (line layer in Multiply mode) would be nice.
I made the last thread only 2 days after the other edition and it went by pretty smoothly, with the same average of content of most threads (except the one right before it, which had more total artworks because of the Suika Matsuri).
Generals are a good thing when they're not too specific (i.e. "Shitty Band General"). The OC threads have a lot of diversity and anyone can join, no matter their interests.
Get a theme and work around it, it's the best way to make something original if you have no ideas.
Example: One different gijinka of each planet from the Solar System.
I don't even care if this pic wasn't done here, I have to complain about how this disgusting ear destroys the entire picture.
Yo, learn some theory, please.
Comfy sounds, though. What are you using?
Cute! But scary as fuck! Specially because of Eyebrow-chan's ear widening the face.
Your art is okay, but the appeal is nil. It's like Tumblr merged with Anime of the Season. Is that guy a metal ring?
Hit her with a beef pie!
Still OC. And it can be good OC if you give it a purpose.
The image is creative, nonetheless, so keep it up.
Oh, this one is better.
How would the jay look if he was a girl?
This would be me. Am I kawaii?
Good to know! Too bad I'm in a 30 day challenge already, will check back in February.
>Hit her with a beef pie!
But She didn't do anything!
>Get a theme and work around it, it's the best way to make something original if you have no ideas.
>Example: One different gijinka of each planet from the Solar System.
Thanks for the suggestions
I really appreciate your words of encouragement!
You got fair skill, especially when it comes to colouring, but I really dislike your character design for the most part. That's up to taste though.
Nice lineart btw, pretty clean strokes.
Those are some... unique eyebrows. Way too weird to be cute, dude.
There are a lot of other problems... but I'm sure you're aware of those. Before drawing complex poses and sceneries, I'd recommend drawing simple characters first.
This is beautiful. Please post more of your stuff.
Finally got it.
Here are some sketches - I really got to get back into it. Haven't drawn with a tablet for almost two years.
I censored some stuff, but could still qualify as NSFW maybe.
I really messed the little girl up.
I almost missed this thread thinking it was some ero doujin thread. Anyway nice to see everyone is being creative. Still working on my comic here.
It indeed will be a story, If I ever manage to fully make it, but won't be H at all. Well, there should be one or two scenes with nudity though.
Woah, I've been a woman for 1 day and you are already oppressing me!
Slutty because of the clothes or because I have a confident look, instead of moe embarrassment?
Here's another drawing, by the way.
>learn some theory
heres the finished version of >>14586761. its called crosswalk (i wonder why)
Please help. I'm making a doujin.
*Do I draw it left-to-right or right-to-left? It will be in english but but left to right just doesn't feels right.
*Do I use honorifics?
*Do I give my characters Japanese names?
It just feels so weird to write and draw manga and give the characters names like Brianna Stevenson. If it's manga they have to be Japanese right? It feels weird otherwise. But I'm not Japanese and I don't speak it either...
I really want to make my own characters and stories but I would hate to create something like that Huniepop garbage.
depends who you want to show it to
There's a portion of weebs who want English original works drawn manga style and that's it, they have no regard for any of the nuances that make manga what they are. Basically, these people enjoy the drawing style of manga but they want something that is more localized in respect to where they are born. These guys are alright with stuff like your Brianna Stevenson example.
But they don't compare to the number of weebs who want everything to be as close to the original as possible.
>if it's manga they have to be Japanese right?
No, not at all.
And honorifics are completely optional and up to personal preference.
Again, it just depends on who you're making it for.
I personally think you shouldn't call it manga/doujinshi if you aren't going to keep all the nuances like drawing right-to-left and having some real Japanese names and "other" names which are based off Japanese. For example, those "other" names I'm referring to are names like Rena, which you can argue is just Japan's rendition of Lena.
If it's really your thing then go for it, so r-l, yes, yes.
I'm looking forward seeing your work.
Personally I always wanted too, but I just started drawing like a week ago after promising /jp/ that I'll get it done this year.
I picked up a guide by Miyatsuki and Kadomaru and it will take some while for things to shape up.
I wasn't doing anything worthwhile so I decided to make a new meido. I'm still studying on how to make her better though.
okay, last version for real this time, blank background was bothering me too much, ended up adding particles besides fixing a few last stuffs.
I finished the mod itself a little while ago.
I'll add Hisoutensoku later.
I think one of the reasons why we don't have much OC, is because a lot of people in this bord are narrow minded and dislike anything that is not made by japs or is nit made in the typical anime style. As a result, some people feel intimidated to upload their work because they are probably going to be hardly critisiced.
Artists suffer when they're ignored, not when they're negatively criticized. some people here probably stopped doing stuff because they got no feedback except those two words tha really feel like pity
If you aren't using anime style, you really, really should reconsider your posts. There are lots and lots of styles Japanese draw in, but this board is still about anime otaku shit. If it's not related to anime or anime accessories, it really shouldn't be here.
Also the reason is because the board is full of either NEETs who are too lazy to be productive and normalfags with normphones who are too busy socializing outside to make anything either.
The thread just ends up being the same few people posting.
I don't post here very often because >>14614394 may be right. Some of the stuff I draw isn't very otaku-culture.
I think I suffer from the same problem. My style varies so it looks different every season.
I'm not sure, but thanks I guess?
My main problem is that I'm a submissive artist.
I can only draw when people tell me what to draw.
I have zero ideas of my own. I don't have anything to self express about. I don't daydream or have fantasies.
If art was sex, I would be a submissive little sissy eager to please her master.
Anyone else like this?
I want to be a submissive artist, but often the requests are just so disappointing I end up being dominant anyway.
I don't want to make people to spit out what I want to read from the request, I am sick of it. I want to reward them for being good leaders.
>The only people I have trouble recognizing are the ones that don't post very much, like >>14611920 (You)
And how do you know that?
you realize how fucking crazy is the idea that all the once regular drawfags didn't disappear because they found jobs as pro artists and they're still on /jp/, posting in the thread regularly, just not drawing anymore? not even Cronenberg on crack cooked with the ashes of Burroughs and Dali could think of something so outlandlishily fucked up holy shit
because he still updates on his site and stuff.
also i don't know what anything you just said was, but everything is going to be ok. please don't worry about anything. take it easy.
Okay, I think I'll start posting some stuff here.
Here is something i'm working on
it is a new year
but I'm the same old me
Yello paper or just comfy lighting? Looks nice very though.
Thanks for the early morning tears.
Really well down hands and perspectiveof body and gun.
I am like that. I don't necessarily need people telling me what to draw (or compose, or write), but when I create I will always need to put a lot of effort into coming with a background or a theme.
No art of mine comes "from the soul" like people seem to do oftentimes.
I don't feel emotions, I assemble them in the piece.
I don't have a message - that particular character in that particular setting does, I just portray it.
I kinda "shapeshift" into the character and create things from his perspective, guessing how he would feel in the situation.
All in all, I love to create, but I have no drive to create anything in particular. This drives me insane. I envy those autistic Sonic faggots who are 40 years old and still draw Knuckles fucking Rouge every day, with all the excitement in the world.
For now, have some RakiKazuu.
I've been in the OC threads for at least two years and I don't know a single artist by name, I really wish you guys would leave to whatever social network it is you frequent to be so informed on what everyone's had for dinner.
It's not actually CUTE, (unless we compare it to your previous guitar/metal work, then sure), but I find it really relaxing/pleasant.
There is some atmospheric sound missing, though. Maybe it's flowing water, wind, fire crackling... even bubbles, but something. Alternatively you should play with panning the instruments to add some depth. Because this style of music could really use some!
>I don't want to make people to spit out what I want to read from the request, I am sick of it.
Can you rephrase this? I'm having some trouble understanding.
Cute. Work on your timing.
Gun is too simple!
Thanks for the feedback.
Bubbles are a cool idea actually.
I mainly tried to make something relaxing though, with some kind of lullaly-effect, so it's good to hear it achieved part of that.
I'm a NEET and manage to be productive. Well some of the time at least. I don't know how those pro mangaka keep up that pace.
I made another because.
My meido needs to be more useless.
>I really wish you guys would leave to whatever social network it is you frequent
Fact is, most drawfags drifted here since they were too unsociable to bear with other boards drawthreads, and they have absolutely zero online life. at least the ones are here since the days of old, like Irisu anon, boku and ham.
the problem with sharing your "art" comes from the fact that maybe you think it sucks, and maybe it really sucks, so honking around "guyz come see muh drawningzs!1!1!" isn't really needed since the artist is the first one thinking they don't deserve any attention.
Right arm looks like HOLY FREAKING SHIT SHE'S A SKELETON. Same for the right leg.
The exposed breast looks... unreal. Like, freakishly. Pretty sure that's not how boobs work.
Pretty sure that the lightning around the vagina/panties is fucked up.
Well, I guess I could fap to it, but I'm not into 3P.
Arrgghh fine you got me. The truth is that I'm afraid of using hard edges because it takes forever to make them look tight without screwing up the surrounding gradients.
But I'm from now I'll work harder on them. And whenever I do I'll be thinking of you Anon. I hope you're happy now >:T
This is my imaginary girlfriend! Please be respectful.
Yes. Bring it on.
Those tremolos/vibratos/whatever they're called are not helping you, you sound like a cheesy romantic singer.
Work on yout ta/te/to, you're saying "tsa/tse/tso" as if it were English. Only "tsu" has this kind of pronunciation in Japanese.
I hate how her front legs can in no way touch the ground.
Love it. Are you the genius behind Sukia?
There is something really uncanny about the rendering, I can't put my finger on it. I think it has to do with illumination, the nipple is a main point in this uncanniness for me. Maybe >>14619192 is right, making some hard edges to get away with the "putty" feeling would help.
I love you and your shitty pancake. It made me smile.
Ah, now it's looking cool - the face is a bit too rough though; give it some extra finish because it's a focal point.
Dude... don't do that.
Trying to get values right.
Anon, having breasts does not mean women have concave chests. Are you doing pre renders properly?
CHeck the images at the bottom. Should give you a few tips.
How about proper proportions and no potato faces?
It's OK to give up jp
I stopped making my music, I stopped making my game, I stopped drawing my shitty pictures, I stopped everything. You guys influenced me to hide in a hole and go back to college so I can make enough money to just live like a normie. Thanks jp.
If you were the squid game guy, then you've always been pretty normieish. you even shamelessly filmed yourself in that youtube video.
this said, feel free to come back anytime. we're not going anywhere, as long /jp/ exists we'll be here, like vengeful ghosts chained eternally to this tansitory world by something they forgot.
This is girl-me in a futuristic viking karate outfit.
Rushed shading, I know it sucks.
Cool stuff, more hip hop than jazz, but still. Too bad it isn't a full song.
Your strokes are fine, but your volumes are a bit over the place. The ear is flat, the face is flat. And the coat makes her look like the MSN logo dolls.
I'm not familiar with the original, but this is agreeable to listen to. The harmony seems random, though. Reminds me of Captain Lunar from the /jp/ compilation.
Good. If you can't survive /jp/, there's no way you'd survive out there.
Not really drawfag, but I did a scan in 1200 DPI. Bkub's art is simple enough that just forcing binary color cleaned it up to almost an original state.
I read it as "at LAST I tried", thought you were that guy- that chicken who is always saying he'll do something.
Well, your values are pretty cool, you need to dare a bit more on saturation and learn about edge control.
Colors are crappy, eyes are creepy and framing is croppy, but for some reason I really like it. She looks very charismatic.
Hope I didn't blow it.
is the hero supposed to look insecure? the way she holds her own arms makes her look uncomfortable contrasted with the way she's looking at the demon king
especially considering >>14628556 where she looks pretty sure of herself
The way she folds her arms-
The demon king crosses his arms in a more relaxed measure, where each arm supports the other (which is pretty much the default way of crossing arms) but I don't usually see people doing it her way, since it requires an active grip to support.
I only really see people hold themselves like that as a form of reassurance, such as when they feel insecure or mindful of how they come off.
are you doing a comic of this yet? I would like to see it.
still working on my comic here! ganbarou /jp!
thats good , don't make it too lewd though just to satisfy others.
heres the next page at odens before I color it
yeah that happens later on though. here i colored it. damn im quick.
It'd be better if you posted something for specific feedback.
Have my battlestation with fucked up proportions.
The last picture I did was this (Nov 23rd) so I don't know if it's a good reference point because that was several months ago
I got a tablet today and wanted to draw my favorite 2hu but it turnt out horrible.
Its my first time drawing seriously. I only doodled before on normal paper. I dont want to be some talented drawfag I just wanna draw some touhous. Do you have any resources?
How do I draw eyes, mouths, feet and hair?
Im very sorry.
I don't think your colors are bad per se - they are very symbolic, yes, but that's common in more manga-ish art.
Unless there is some setting (like being in the dark, underwater, on a volcano etc.), you can get away with most colors in a white background.
If you're looking for shading techniques, then it's an entirely different story, which involves understanding shape and its volumes.
But the Photoshop setup is simple: make a layer above the one you want to shade and make it a Clipping Mask. Change the blending option to Multiply and make an opaque layer of shading..
Same goes for highlights, but with Screen mode instead of Multiply.
Here's a PSD if you want to have a look, excuse my rushed brushwork:
Try pressing the pen with more strength. Against your nostril. The harder you press, the higher the chances you will pierce your brain and accidentally achieve unparalleled skills.
>If you're looking for shading techniques, then it's an entirely different story, which involves understanding shape and its volumes.
I'm already working on that... as much as I can, anyway. Thank you for the advice, anyhow. It really means a lot. I was just looking for advice on how to.. do more with my colors? I'm unsure of how to phrase it.
Maybe I should use Photoshop instead of SAI...
Though if I ever get good enough to make money off of my work it'll be illegal
It won't be illegal because no one will check it.
Also you can do the same thing I did on SAI, if you open this PSD in SAI it works perfectly, actually.
Photoshop sucks for anything that isn't drawn with a lasso tool.
Wip, I'll do the whole figure and a background for this one.
Still testing some stuffs to improve the clothes design, not sure if I should swap to sleeveless.
Your stuff is boring and you're not really good as you think you are, just look those lopsided faces. plus the dicksucking you receive for no apparent reason is extremely annoying
thank you for posting this
the last time i made a similar meanpost i got banned from all boards for 3 days (why all?) so i was afraid of speaking out again
You are right. Any specifics?
There are some hard edges here and there, but since I've made it all without construction I hadn't the firmness to lay down much decisiveness into the strokes.
It was done in about 40 minutes too, so there's that.
Very topographic, I like it. Except for the crotch.
You mean the guys desperate for some porn? Yeah, they're annoying, but that's not the artist's fault.
Since it was a quick sketch according to you I'll disregard things like the laptop keys as they're not really that important.
I think specifically on the laptop (since it is the centre of the image) you should not have all these wobbles and curves. Laptops have straight lines that are clearly defined. You ave curved lines which have varying opacity. Same goes for the screen of the laptop.
Tablet would also benefit from an extra few straight lines.
If those were done better I think the general quality of the piece would be vastly improved, especially since things like the wrapping and bottle actually look good with that ill defined kinda style.
Perhaps if you had made 4 clean squares (laptop base, laptop monitor, laptop screen, tablet) then draw squiggles over that it would solve the problem?
I'm just kinda speculating though.
but is it otaku culture?
Posting latest page. no bully.
And done, background will be for later.
> The gloves seem very bandage-like
Because these ARE bandages.
its the remilia
maybe i'll finish it tomorrow
Ah, now I just have to shade like the anon told me to. Pretty proud of this so far, though.
First frame should be longer so we can read it.
Turned this guy into a loli:
I accidentally posted this in the wrong thread opps
but here a yuuka
Starteing to draw porn just to gather attention is a mistake
stopping to draw porn because you get called a sellout is a mistake
the mistake is giving too much weight to random people opinion. just do what your heart truly desire and you'll never be wrong
Fled away from Hiroyuki - at least Jellyfish-san and Lolirape-san.
I paint some freestyle shitty idea. Or make something very cartoony and not focused on anatomy and whatnot.
Don't tell me that Jellyfish-san quit on us. I thought he would be different from us. I thought he would be the chosen one. I suppose that jellyfish game will end up in the grave of unfinished /jp/ projects.
I never cared for the loli-rape dev. Something about that guy annoyed me. Is the Youmu game developer still around?
>Don't tell me that Jellyfish-san quit on us. I thought he would be different from us. I thought he would be the chosen one. I suppose that jellyfish game will end up in the grave of unfinished /jp/ projects.
He had already stopped like two other projects at least. Shame cause I wanted to play the one with the police officer in the point and click adventure.
>I never cared for the loli-rape dev. Something about that guy annoyed me.
Probably his "look how autistic I am about stats" attitude. I liked his game though. It was fun driving around and splatting lolis. Made me want to dl GTA and put in some anime loli mods.
I'm one of the fangame dev and i'm still here.
The game I'm working on right now just don't have any 2hu so no point posting it here, and besides all of our fangame threads just always die for various reasons.
was the guy working on that Tenshi game
Yeah, that one looked interesting with that half blade runner half system shock atmosphere in the backgrounds. the jellyfish also looked fun
most probably he's >>14624019, so rip any of his projects
Some generic demon mage thing I patterned out of some mmorpg character I used to play as. I'm still looking to make the perfect useless meido.
Where are all of my game developers at? You drawfriends have plenty of people in these threads to inspire you, but we devs are lonely. I won't post any of my projects until there is more devs around.
Hi /jp/ OC thread I'm drunk and I wanted to say I love you all and I hope you get recognized oin your art, because its good and it express things not like those shitty fanart artists
thanks, I reallyv respect you. and I hope you will not yeld, please keep fighting strong
How many creases do you need. Also, her face is too sharp and pointy. Her face lacks character. Who am I kidding. I am just jealous of you. I hate you. You are going to discourage others from drawing. Stop being so good.
Where do her pants end and the legs begin? That's honestly the only problem I have with this picture, and I'm not trying to fit in with the bully crowd. There's not really much of an indication that those pants are skintight and not just skin.
Agreed. Also, I personally don't like her outfit in general. It is not sexy enough. She doesn't show enough skin. I can't think of many female characters in manga who show so little skin. It is sad to say this but sex sells.
I am a proud member of the bully crowd.
I thought something along the lines of Kusoko.
