Let's start off with some Sakai Noriko!
Noriko's discography can be downloaded here:
Here are some of her music videos:
The entire 'Yume bouken' album is great. The rest is rather lackluster, except for 'Love letter'
Also, lets not forget about the Gunbsuter titles.
This and 'Norenai Teen-age' are still her best tracks.
Seems like this thread is too popular for you to keep up with :P
I love Fantasia as well. Track 4 プリティ・パラノイア is my jam dude.
Can you guys recommend any other idol albums that have that synth-pop sound? As much as I love strings and brass, I seem to come back to Noriko often for the synths :P
>Track 4 プリティ・パラノイア
Not bad, but I still dont like her vocals. They seem rather flat and monotone to me.
Also, define synth-pop. Pretty much 80% of the 80's pop is in some way synth-pop as its mainly electronical.
Scout around on your own for a while. Maybe I have some goodies to upload if you find something you like.
There is this woman I often see in the subway. She looks like a full blown cindy lauper in her prime. Its incredible to look at. I bet she is quite the attraction.
Anyone has ANY of the yukiko okadas photobooks? I'd love an upload of these.
not bad, even with texts!
I expected more cute pictures though I guess.
Even though I like the songs you posted (and I'm a huuuge Momoko fan. Mystical Composer might be THE song that got me into 80s idol music),
it's not what I'm looking for specifically. I mean songs with a really strong synth presence like プリティ・パラノイア.
Track 10 マグニチュード・ヒロイン also has a cute synth part.
The melody at the start of A-ha - Take on me is a perfect example. Damn, I love that song.
Alphaville - Sounds like a melody also has the sound I'm looking for.
Ha! A-ha and alphaville, now we are talking.
So its not really synth-pop but rather heavy Synthesizer sounds?
The FIRST thing that comes to mind is vangelis.
But he aint exactly a japanese idol, lol.
I'll be scouting my VA albums, maybe I spot something.
These are my favorite threads on /jp/.
I wish that 80s hits CD could be reuploaded, it was a good introduction.
Posting some classics.
I has these, will this do?
6 CD total. Very few duplicate songs. 3 or so I think.
Apparently Tsunku wrote a song for Kikuchi Momoko in 2014. I really like the song, but I can't find any information on the album's release. Any of you guys have it?
Narumi Yasuda please. Why did she make so few songs.
Phew, took quite a while with my shitty connection.
Have fun guys!
I knew exactly why I wanted a proper CDrip upload.
THANK YOU again to that anon who uploaded yukkos 'all songs request' album for me.
In the end I gave in and started loading yukkos albums from http://jpop80ss.blogspot.ca.
They have horribly quality, no bass and are no fun listening to.
Well, you dont happen to still be around? I'd love a copy of FAIRY and Okurimono (贈りもの)
aswell. There are some good tracks on them I am still missing. Maybe as an exchange for these? >>14583456 heh.
Keep in mind that "All songs request" had a remastering and that its quality is superior than Fairy. Anyway I hope you'll enjoy this album.
Here's the information :
- Momoko Kikuchi - 青春ラブレター~30th Celebration Best~
- Apr, 30. 2014
Unfortunately, I don't have the album, anon.
I have never been a fan of websites that share free content locked behind registration.
Pinterest however is excellent if you like idol images and your search engine just doesnt cut it.
Maybe give it a try if you have had doubts like me.
Quite a few 'less common' ones aswell.
Any Machiko Wantanabe fans?
I've got her そっとふりむいて (1982) album, and I love every single track on there!
This song is pretty awesome as well:
Here's a link:
If you find any other Watanabe releases online, please post them!
LOOK WHAT I JUST FOUND:
This is a HUGE collection!
I'm not sure if you will be able to download albums if you create a VK account, but either way it's a great place to listen to and discover new music. :D
I'll make a trash account and test this later. Will report back.
Who actually sings this? Is it her?
Where can I get this track then?
Description says its yukkos fanclubs final slideshow video? My Kanji is lacking.
Sign up and verification mail ONLY via mobile Phone?!
WOW, I guess I wont be able to test it then...
I have never owned a mobile/smart phone in my life.
Someone up for a group-account?
OP reporting back.
I bit the bullet and signed up... It just lets you see all the music albums sorted together if you click on the "full album" links. No downloads.
GOOD NEWS: I found a VK downloader for chrome and firefox that allows you to download each individual song.
A bit of a drag, but it's at least something and you don't need to sign up to use it.
It also keeps the track information, which is pretty cool.
It's called "VKontakte.ru Downloader"
I was JUST about to post this, been digging myself just now.
Tried to sign up with a SMS receiver, obviously all of them were taken. But hey, extreme measures scream for extreme solutions. Up to now I had NO idea these hings even exist.
Thanks to both of you!
I'll be busy scouting, listening and loading for a while.
If you find any outstanding, above average tracks please help posting their names.
We should be able to sort out all the goof stuff relatively quick.
Yeah, I agree!
And please... If you find some seriously synth driven music (like Noriko's Fantasia), let me know!
And if (by a long shot) you haven't heard Yoko Oginome's debut, it's definitely one of my favourite albums.
Yoko Oginome - Teens Romance
WHAT the ... I am on page 11 of 39. This shit goes back to 2013?!
It has pretty much all of the albums of every major 80s Idol. Yukko, Akina, Seiko, Yuki Saito and the rest of the sukeban group. Tons of Funk, rock etc.
Whoever you are, wherever you are anon that shared this with us. May you live forever! This has got to be the biggest collection in alive atm. I am 100% sure of this and I have been scouting these type of music for years now.
I love the look of her on this cover image.
Thats the typical 80's portrait to me.
Look up her songs on this VK wall. good stuff.
Haha, I'm OP of this thread and found that VK site while looking at Sakai Noriko pictures on google images.
Always good to click the "Visit page" button :)
I'm really happy to have shared it with you guys!
Alright, here is my loot.
This is by no means the only good stuff. I already have most of them. Its just fillers to complete discorgraphies mostly.
Though Shizuka Kudo and Ito Maiko are new installments and I love them.
I find it interesting how you can distinguish good songs from bad ones in a matter of a few seconds.
And if you are still unsure the refrain will stettle things at last.
This applies to any kind of music really.
This song here is really outstanding, together with 恋一夜. The rest of her is rather garbage. Sad.
That's absolutely ridiculous.
Most of my favourite music took multiple listens before I started liking it.
You need to give music a chance to grow on you.
I hated Kikuchi Momoko's debut the first time I listened to it.
Now it's easy one of my favourite 80s albums.
There are albums like Defeated Sanity's Passages into Deformity that took around 6 listens before it finally "clicked".
I highly recommend you change your approach to listening to new music...
>I highly recommend you change your approach to listening to new music...
When I get a new album I let it play fully and rate the tracks individually upon the first time listening to them. In the end I keep the full album anyway because if I got it in the first place there has to be atleast 1 song that I like anyway. And I like hoarding my shit.
VERY rarely do I re-rate songs, even after years. Sometimes a shift happens at 4 or 5 stars, but thats about it.
I am trying really hard to think of a song that took me multiple times to like it. I cannot think of any.
A voice is either bad, decent or outstanding. Usually it only takes a few seconds of a few different songs to judge the vocal qualities. When a good voice is on tape you just know it instantly.
Same goes for the musical/melodical/instrumental part.
Of course my favourite tracks/albums vary from time to time but its mostly because they get overshadowed by another one.
>I am trying really hard to think of a song that took me multiple times to like it. I cannot think of any.
Wow, I find that hard to believe. But maybe that's just you. Or maybe it's just pop music.
What other genres do you listen to? Do you listen to any Jazz? Prog? Metal?
In those genres specifically the best music usually takes a while to "click".
Sometimes a piece will sound like random notes and then only after a few listens a pattern emerges and it turns into a melody line.
I won't dictate to you how to listen to music, but understand that I really find it incredible that you have never changed your mind about a track.
>What other genres do you listen to?
You are probably going to find it just as weird that I dont even care about genre as much. I listen to pretty much every genre, except rap and very little metal.
If I had to classify what I actually listen to, I would say Retro and Sountracks. I love Soundtracks. Retro mainly being 80's I believe I dont even own more than 10 albums post 90's Out of the 840~
Its possibly a personality thing. I usually know exactly/instantly what I want or like, in any subject I try. Also regarding music I probably already expect a certain level that I can quickly sort out of the stuff of less quality in a matter of seconds.
Just picked 15 random 4/5 star tracks with a greater variety. If you want to give it a quick listen that is: https://anonfiles_com/file/70b75b4090be3a6a6f15da7d3d861809
I listened to the mix you posted, and didn't really like anything on there haha
But then again, genres are important to me as I'm very fussy when it comes to the styles I enjoy.
I enjoy loads of brass and strings, which is why I like retro and modern j-idol music. The Japanese sense of melody when it comes to vocals is also pretty great. I really like synth-pop as well. So 80s idol music (which I've only been listening to for a few months now) really hits the spot :)
Other than that I mostly listen to death metal...
Not really a fan of rock, dance music, hip-hop or anything else really haha
Quite a few interesting tracks on this album :)
Manabe Chiemi - Mysterious Girl
I'm kind of a fan of Murata Kazuhito. I heard a song of his in an old commercial (I watch big collections of Shouwa-era CMs whenever I want to forget my life and pretend I am in bubble-era Japan) and got hooked.
Here's the commercial in question:
And him doing an acoustic cover of it a couple years ago:
And the one album version of the song (which is a different cut than the one in the commercial, which unfortunately I think might have never been released officially anywhere):
I don't feel comfortable inviting people, but I can snatch them. Here's what they have.
Not enough Yutaka Ozaki? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFVlVDKTras
Pardon my pleb taste, but 80s and early 90s are just incomplete without yutaka ozaki
Masakazu Katsura (center) cosplaying as his creation, DREAM WARRIOR WINGMAN,
together with the supporting cast for the June 1985 issue of Fanroad.
Still from NEBULA MASK MACHINEMAN, c 1984.
I just finished watching Sukeban Deka and man what a ride that was! I wasn't expecting anything and yet I got more than I asked for. There were so many issues with that show from the acting to editing to story that I would liked to have been better, despite some of them being products of the time.
The translation on this show was pretty mad too.Regardless, I fell head of heels over this show. I cannot stop repeating her catchphrase whenever she confronts the villain, even if she dropped it about halfway through the show.
But now I want more. What do you recommend? I plan to watch Sukeban Deka II and Nestuppoi no. I've already fallen for Minamino Youko through her albums alone. And I've also already downloaded Amaenaideyo, the only thing with that though is that, flipping through it, it looks like a Japanese take on American sitcoms from the time.
In episode 6 "Aim for the idol", are the Izumi Yukari songs actually Yuki Saito songs?
Or were they specifically written for the show's fictional idol? Are they available?
Glad there aren't only people who likes pop idol stuffs here. The things he did for movies are amazing as well, particularly those for the Kindaichi series.
Posting some of my favorites that I posted in the previous thread. I have a lot more but I can't be bothered to look at the moment. maybe later.
By the way, ANRI is still making music. Here's new production from her new(ish) youtube channel:
She also has a gig coming up march. I wish I was in japan.
Saw her on TV recently. Just some unspectacular talkshow though.
Her birthmark grew... a lot. Hah.
Sakai noriko in greece
a real journey
also a lot of nice things here if you're willing to translate/crawl through
Couldn't agree more. It used to be an impending doom but I eventually reached it
def all his music is amazing.
Others I enjoy.
80 commercials are rad
I've listened to a couple of Togawa Jun's first albums. I really like them.
>Here's hoping there's lots to look forward to further down the discography.
Does anyone know of where I can obtain some Hiromi Go albums/songs? I'm not really sure where to look, but everywhere I've tried doesn't seem to have anything on him aside from a few of his popular songs.
Found these 2 bands on my old laptop under Mishio Ogawa related stuff though I don't think they actually are. Still glad I found them again.
What does /jp/ think about Kou Shibasaki?
This is a very comfy song I love, but I'm unable to find the studio version, live one however is nothing less great as well.
Noooo anon. This isn't a general jpop thread...
If you plan on posting modern music, at least post something with 80s vibes like:
Tokyo Girls' Style (funk)
i recently found this song while video surfing on youtube, and i really like it: https://youtu.be/3UVC1qQ-5j4
but i can't seem to find anything out about the singer, except her name is michiyo kitajima and she only released a few singles. i was hoping someone in this thread might know a bit more about her at least.
