My PC can't install Linux. I've tried Ubuntu, Mint, and Antergos, but none of them work. On those first two my monitor says "No signal" and goes black. With Antergos, depending on what option I try, either weird pink stuff comes up on the screen or it gives me error messages about a fault and no edid for dvi. Perhaps I should try gentoo.

Irish people generally don't give a shit about the Brits anymore and haven't for decades unless you're up North where the wounds are still raw.

That's not a PC anon, that's a potato.
Not sure what the cause of your issue is, try having a google if you haven't already. Maybe try plugging you monitor into the motherboard and not your graphics card? Might also be something wrong with the USB or install media you are using. Sometimes the ISO doesn't flash to my USB correctly.

>If Britain wants to it can run Eire into the ground

>prodigal Eire will seek membership of the UK

It reads like far right euro skeptic fan fiction. Everything they thought their country was is crumbling before their eyes and I guess desperation and the land of fantasy is the last place they can turn to.
I especially like the part where they rail on Ireland for so long but then at the end show that yearning for us to be a part of the UK again. The idea of us moving further away from them culturally and closer to Europe really upsets them.

Highly unlikely if Windows is booting and showing for you correctly.
Are you able to run the Ubuntu installer or does it just show no signal after you select the USB to boot from?
Can troubleshoot more after I'm done at work.

>Those who hate Ireland (except the Irish) do so out of ignorance, that's the difference.

We immigrated en masse to different countries and gave rise to terrorists. Both of these are traits hated by the average person so I can understand why people might not like us. Of course we don't do these as much anymore but the guy who wrote that article is in his 70's so he obviously remembers when we did
>>
>>78309351
>We immigrated en masse to different countries
America, Canada and Australia were (and to some extent still are) nationless countries in need of warm bodies to expand their economic use of their territory, and it was the Brits who drove us out of Ireland, invited us in during the 19th and 20th centuries, and caused the terrorism of which they were the sole receivers of. Comparing us to Muslims is laughable, especially to justify a thoughtless policy as exists now towards them. There are historical comparisons to draw, surely, but an honest look at Irish history would not lead to a "refugees welcome" outlook.

If you want to troll then I suggest something more realistic. Gay Nigerian traveller is too unrealistic for it to get to anyone as they know it's fake. I suggest pretending to be a young Nigerian lad, who is tall because of high social welfare allowing him to consume lots of protein farmed by the white man and is ripped because he has time to go the gym from not working, that uses his height and build to hit on low confidence white girls. That will actually get to people

Took forever waiting or you doing the actual steps took forever?
If you used the minimal installer it has to download the entire OS so it can take a while if you connection is slow.

>I'd have to go through a bunch of complicated steps to set it to a proper resolution
You just have to download the nVidia drivers no?
Usually when you first install Windows it also can't reach full 1080+ resolutions without the drivers.

When we got in there it turned out that it was in fact a 24 hour Tesco and it was full of people. We then met Graf's father, who was Ed Harris wearing a fedora. I heard of one lad that did something similar but it was because he wanted a better degree. If he didn't do good enough on one exam then he'd fuck up the rest of them on purpose to repeat the year instead of graduating with a lesser degree. After about four years his professor caught on to this and told him he's not allowed back if he fails again.
I'm probably missing some details so maybe it made more sense than that.

I've heard of this too.
The stuff the unis tend to be doing or have been doing with making more than the last year or so count is geared at countering this. Same thing with the JC, and sooner rather than later, the LC.
Nevermind that a lot of profs think giving people bad grades or marginal grades is a "learning experience". Foolish overlapping of purposes and propaganda is what the current system is, and every half-measure attempt to move things towards an imaginary equilibrium only upsets what functions have been achieved. Some of those people have been in there so long they've forgotten or never realised that the reason most people go to university is to get the degree, not learning for its own sake.

They only do as much "work" as they need to, and their "stories" aren't primarily selected with the intention to abstractly inform the public as a public service, even if such a thing were possible. When undeniable news events happen, it's an intrusion on their normal schedule, but the work doesn't stop, it changes to spin instead of manufacture.

RTE is no different, by the way. Can't go a week without a propagandising of "refugees" or "muh housing we neeeed soshalism".

It's tough alright.
I did a stint in a course based on the only practical experience I had, then went to "do what you like" in an arts multi-course, and oddly enough developed an affinity for the subject I thought wouldn't lead anywhere and I was least suited for.
So, don't be afraid to fuck up. Be more afraid to not fuck up by doing nothing than fucking up by doing something.
>How could you even know that you'd do better than at least 90%
Well, 90% is a bit of a made-up number. The percentage varies depending on how many people want to do the job in the first place and how common a job it is.
You would know based on whether or not the prospect of doing it makes your blood pressure rise (bad) or not.

It's way worse than that. I understand people just tuning in for the top story then switching off again, but anyone that stays more than five minutes is subject to having the same story repeated over and over with no new details. Even worse when there's something interesting on the bottom bar but they never bring it up. And that's nothing compared to when they say "coming up [an actual interesting story]" and you stay watching for another half an hour but they never mention it again. I just wanted something to doze off to but they got me so interested I had to get up and Google it after waiting so long then it turned out to be not nearly as interesting.

You mean how there is always a degree of coercion in all media that forces someone to view the world from a particular narrative? I can sort of see where you're coming from there, but surely we should expect the media to feed us narratives that aim to be congruent with reality to the highest degree possible.

Although I think what the other anon meant by "standards" was that the media should be focusing on geopolitical situations rather than celebrity gossip. Not whether the news of Mel Gibson's affair are fabricated or not

If they were philosopher kings or whatever, yeah, but they're not, so you have to look at incentives, and the incentives for what to put on the "news" don't match the lofty ambitions of the ideal "informer".

>Although I think what the other anon meant by "standards" was that the media should be focusing on geopolitical situations rather than celebrity gossip. Not whether the news of Mel Gibson's affair are fabricated or not

You're a bully. And an awful person. A genuinely awful person with a massive appetite for bullying. You make me want to kill myself. You're the biggest bully in these threads. Ever since you started posting here again you've attributed every post you don't like to me and gone out of your way to attribute them to me, and convince everyone else that they are me too, essentially ostracizing me.

https://desuarchive.org/int/thread/74594077/#74625693

That's not me.

I'm too drunk to find the plethora of examples of you accusing me of being someone I'm not at the moment, but they are their. I'll post them eventually.
https://desuarchive.org/int/thread/74594077/#74626250
That actually is me, trying to reason with them funnily enough and stop their bullying of you. :)

https://desuarchive.org/int/thread/78236105/#q78236582

Not like you'd have the intelligence to realize.

https://desuarchive.org/int/thread/78236105/#q78236582 That's not me either. It was never me.

What was your motivation for saying these things? Saying these hurtful things. It was clearly to bully you despicable cunt.

Or that, though you arguing with other randomers who aren't even me. As you always have been.

I didn't say anything because I thought common sense would prevail, though even after reasoning with you you clearly have none .Everyone else knows it too, since you've accused every user of /eire/ of being me at this stage. I like you and I like that someone like you posts here but I also I hate you. Just leave me alone.

You're a bully. And you've always been a bully, despite your best efforts to appear otherwise.
Want to delete this post since it'll have unintended consequences like all the rest and I'm too drunk to really complete it despite writing it over several days and not begin able to find the relevant archive posts..

I could link to so many other archive moments where you're wrong but I'm honesty too drunk. Either apologize to me or just fuck off and leave me alone.

Seeing as your an expert, how does RTÉ do in terms of bias?
From my amateur eye they don't seem to use anywhere near as much opinionated language in their articles in comparison to the likes of thejournal, except when talking about Trump perhaps.

Actually not that bad compared to most. They love their refugees and could be described as pro-establishment to a certain degree, but you're right in saying that they avoid using opinionated language for the most part. They're even more neutral than most other outlets on Trump.

Not him, but RTE bias is oblique. They'll use slightly different tones of voice when discussing "neutrally" in terms of word content. If it's "bad news", they'll talk with discomfort like they're carrying a hot mug and are hurrying to put it down on a table. Likewise, you can tell by who they interview and on what subjects they focus where their idea of "importance" leads people to in terms of drawing conclusions and getting opinions.

Eg:
>"Tonight we have Pompous Mac an Anglo from the quango Refugees Welcome to tell us about their ASSISTANCE with the Irish Navy's RESCUE efforts of REFUGEES in the Mediterranean"

The presenter will be taken out of focus and put on less-than-equal footing with the propagandist. They will listen attentively and interject the talking points for the true spiel to bounce off of.

I haven't the last few years but used to watch it with the parents. Find it a bit cringey.
