Apparently Rikaisama's audio feature does not work anymore. Where else could I get audio for words? I should have set up the automatic card adding in the first place but now I need to find audio for about 2000 words.

What the fuck, it was okay yesterday! Maybe it will come back, too soon to tell.

Go to Forvo.com and extract the audios from there. I use a Firefox extension called FlashGot, it detects media being played and adds it to the download options in the icon (right click it for the list).

For some reason Forvo now bugs the fuck out if I have uBlock enabled and refreshes after a play (so the audio go away from the download list), so I'm dealing with stupid adds in their page.
>>
>>77905686
You can do this without an extension in Firefox or Chrome too. Push F12 -> Network and filter to Media (before playing the audio or video).

Why not log in real quick and download them normally through the down-arrow icon?

Also this shit is tedious, now an extra small chunk of my time is going to have to be spent downloading the audio and changing the tags on the cards. I'm being whiny, but FUG
>>
I tried out Memrise mobile because I hate Anki but memrise seems to be more about general phrases than word words. Like attaching desu to words like 嬉しい. It feels unnecessary and poor practice. Also grammar being locked behind a paywall is jewish.
>>
>>77909072
>changing the tags on the cards
Is this related to this task, or it's something else? You can always mass-tag stuff if it's only category labels.
Also be aware you can drag and drop audio and picture files into the card field and it will automatically create a copy in Anki's media folder and whatnot.
>>
>>77910855
I'm talking about a new way to import cards with sounds. I'm trying to be as quick as possible. The quickest way that comes to mind is to import however many cards I do a session, and after the session I'll go to forvo, download the audio, and as I save each one, I'll save them in the "[hiragana] - [kanji].mp3" name, which is what the card is already set to. The only quicker way I can think of is if it would automatically be saved as "pronunciation_ja_[kanji].mp3" format, which is how the forvo files automatically save. So I take it I could modify the algorithm of the import and put a "pronunciation_ja_" there every time, but I don't know if I can or how to only get it to save as only "pronunciation_ja_[kanji].mp3", and not "pronunciation_ja_[hiragana] - [kanji]". If you know how to do something like that, or any other tips, I'd appreciate it.
>>
>>77911876
My manually added cards have a field with the following:

[sound:戦慄_pronunciation_How_to_pronounce_戦慄_in_Japanese_ms_9478059_76_3895547.mp3]

And the Card template has this to play it:
{{Vocabulary-Audio}}

Apparently that's enough, doesn't require any standardized filename
>>
>>77912895
By the way, this [sound:blablabla] is the result of me dragging and dropping the Mp3 in the card's field manually.
But the rest of the fields were filled beforehand, by importing an excel table. So you can create your cards with no audio and then go through them all adding audio via drag and drop.

>>
>>77913439

>>
>>77912895
>>77912951
Hmm, interesting. Both your method and what I'm doing.. it doesn't seem like there's a big time difference either way. If I'm following you right, I either would have to download the file and drag and drop them manually, or the way I'm doing, manually change the name of the file I download. Do you go through "browse" on anki, and click on each card, and drag and drop into the audio category from there?
>>
>>77913950
Yes. I believe it's substantially faster than F2ing and typing out the tags on every mp3 file, but it's still a bit of a pain in the ass.
>>
>>77914106
The main positive would be that the downloading and importation are done simultaneously: I change the name of the file I'm saving, so it's all done while looking up the words on forvo in my browser, after a session.

(what's the f2 hotkey? lol)

don't stress over grammar and don't try to memorize the rules
read it to get the general idea how grammar in Japanese works and then move on and go about acquiring the language the natural way - by reading and listening
use it as a reference

Hell, I haven't even wasted a fraction of the time he spent shilling.

Also I haven't tried learning Japanese from a dude who admittedly doesn't even speak Japanese, so I have a lot of time unwasted to spent with other superfluous things, such as saving everyone else's time.

>>
>>77938226
I'm nervous about this because I don't want to have to stop at every word that I don't know and learn it (overloading my brain), I feel that I must be doing something wrong when I'm reading this way.
>>
>>77938376
>I don't want to have to stop at every word that I don't know and learn it
Look it up, save it somewhere and add it to an Anki deck which is set to feed a certain amount of new cards every day. There isn't much that can be done to bypass the fact that to read Japanese comfortably you have to know thousands and thousands of words. No other way around but head on.

Why not make what you're trying to say clearer?

「始める」と「始まる」のちがいはあんまりわからないです。

Your original sentence, while somewhat grammatically correct, makes it difficult to comprehend what you're trying to say.

If you go one step further, you could say

every kanji basically has one or several possible meanings on its own, and most of the time there are several ways they can be read, so they give you ni, shou, ta etc....

>>

I know

it's the plain past tense form of のです, I can't really explain it any more basic than that if you don't know what のですis used for. It makes a sentence explanatory rather than just a plain statement.
compare "So, I'm going to buy you something nice" and "So, I bought you something nice."
>>
>>78001947

The point of my previous statement was to show that they're both in the past tense, just the copula was the past tense in one case and non-past in the other.
>>
>>78001708
It implies that he previously knew that he had bought something (obviously), but he's just now remembered. It's almost as if he's saying, "There was a me who bought something."

買ってきたんだ = I bought something.
買ってきたんだった = I bought something (and am just remembering that I did it).

It helps to think about the literal meaning of のだ, and where that "explanatory tone" comes from. You're nominalizing the whole phrase and implying a subject that corresponds to the だ. That's why you could literally translate certain cases of のだ as: "The reason is that [nominalized phrase]," with "reason" as the omitted subject. Here, you might think of Jumbo's んだった as "What I forgot was [nominalized phrase]."

However, I have ran into a problem with the Kanji腸: What's 昜 supposed to mean using Heisig's method? And what could be a possible story for this Kanji?

腸 is a 形声字 , 月 is a radical for alot of internal organ, it is written as 肉 in seal script which explains it's frequent occurrence in "organic" character , while 昜 is the sound part,
it carries the sound of 陽楊場 etc

>Heisig's method hurrrr
wtf is this arbitrary shit. A westerner's method for "explaining" chinese character through japanese language, where do you think you're going
>>
if you want to learn 漢字
do it the chinese way
because it's the only true way

Most likely you need to start menu search "region and language", and change the format from English to Japanese. I have to agree though that this is an unnecessary hindrance for a newbie (and pretty useless for an advanced learner as well); you would do much better just to keep reading and absorbing content than racking your brain trying to figure out what odd compound word is being used in a command prompt at an inopportune moment.

Maybe when I'm out of the army
I don't have enough time for that kind of bullcrap right now. RTK's been working for me up to now, and I'm too far ahead in the numbers to suddenly "start studying 'em the """right way"""".

>chink crafted the characters with reasoning, categorized them, and refined teaching/learning method of the characters for millennia

>(((Memesig's method))) created by weeb, that relies on retarded """meme""" explanation, and give not much legit information in return.

i see, you have quite an exceptional taste on bullshit

Is there any way to remove production cards from Yotsubato reading pack deck?
>>
>>78044451
Why not buy the book for free on the Internet, though?

>>78044676
Go to your deck in "Browse" and click a card. Then press the buton "Card..." to see its layout.
If there are two separate layouts - one for recall and one for production -, you simply have to [X] the production one and it will automatically delete it from all your cards in the same category.

/jp/の方で書いたけど、その「そう」は「相」または「様 (さう)」が語源
だから、come to look likeが元義
しかし、自分の行為や感情にこの訳は使えない
だから、
つまずいてこけそうになる
stumble and nearly fall
彼は溺れそうになった。
He almost drowned.
泣きそうになった。
I almost cried.
もちろん、文脈により、しそうになる
to be about to do
を用いるべき場合もある。
彼女は泣きそうになる。
She's about to cry
更に、自分以外なら、
彼は眠りそうになる。
He comes to look sleepy
という訳もある。

その絵は嫌だよ。
ペンギンさんの失恋を覚えてしまった、あたしの一日はもう台無しになった。卑怯な。
