Funny thing is that the greek we speak today are different than the dialect we spoke internationally couple of decades ago (aka kαθαρεύουσα, kathareEvusa, basically high-class greek, an example I can give - a bad one - is when you use words like thus, furthermore, whomst etc in english), they're more simplified
and we definitely don't speak in ancient greek which was the original language but actually was the coolest (almost every word that isn't borrowed from other languages derives from at least 2 ancient words)
if you want to learn something better learn modern greek, easier and more effective since we speak that atm
