Interesting tidbit from the article: "Madrid officials have already installed a number of same-sex couple and gender neutral traffic lights across the city, which will remain in place even after World Pride is over".

I would have assumed that Madrid had more pressing issues.

Fun in a game is supposed to come from a fair challenge. It's not fun if the difficulty revolves around becoming extremely intimate with an archaic control scheme.

They did change it so that Dublin play a couple of games every championship season outside of Dublin, but it's a token measure - most the fans won't travel for those games anyway.

Gaelic Football is in a pretty shitty place at the moment anyway. It needs serious reform.

They made sense back when homosexual people were actively oppressed. But then we became the first country in the world to legalise gay marriage. What more do they want?

>What kind of bubble have you been living in up until this stage?
Well /éire/ was never a place where Pride was relevant in the past, nor the discussion of tumblr terms. The fact that you think otherwise shows just how new you are.

Very token, an opening round game against no hopers and this year it wasn't even away, just a neutral venue. GAA are too money hungry to ever let them play a big game away from Croker, unfortunately.

>Gaelic Football is in a pretty shitty place at the moment anyway. It needs serious reform.
Yep, I'd like the provincial structure to be scrapped in favour of a champions league style group to at least mix up the provinces instead of the same stale matchups every year. Even then there is a big gulf emerging between a small number of teams and the rest that will be difficult to deal with.

I feel like the move towards group tables will be to the detriment of weaker counties.
We all love when an underdog wins and upsets the favourites, but a group system will make that more unlikely to happen as they would have to cause multiple upsets to progress.

They march for those who cannot, there are still countries where homosexuality is illegal or seen as a source of shame.
You can see the sort of impact the flag and the idea of being proud and open of being gay has had on these people in Uganda, a country where it is traditionally forbidden and actively oppressed.

It is. They shouldn't be encouraged.
>>
>>76473382
Potentially although those sort of upsets usually wind up with the underdog getting slaughtered embarrassingly in the next round. No underdog in recent times has ever posed a serious threat at actually winning Sam. I like the idea of a group since it could blend styles a lot more rathers than focusing on the same overplayed rivalries. Qualifier games are usually less easy to predict than provincial games since teams are less familiar with one another, hopefully there'd be an element of that.
Though regardless of format we'd still wind up with the likes of Dublin, Mayo, Kerry, Tyrone, Donegal at the end.

That's how pride is shown, it's a celebration of who you are. I don't know about sexually charged, a large portion of the attendees are children. It's very much a family event where people clap, cheer and take photos. You can buy balloons or snacks or whatever from street stalls, I think they had face painting and stuff like that for kids as well. It's not much different in atmosphere to a Patricks Day parade.

You just reminded me of a website I saw as a child in the early 00's that I had thankfully managed to completely forget about it. It was some sort of blog about a man who felt an intimate connection with a dolphin, complete with graphic details and photos. Used to get posted around for shock value.
>>
>>76473775
Just remembered that Dolphins are mammals and therefore would not be in the "Fish" category on most porn websites.

The funniest was she said Varadkar was really rude. That he kept reaching over the bar to pour his own pints, when he was asked to stop he said he was "just checking the taps were working" before proceeding to laugh with his buddies at the staff.

She said Enda Kenny, Michael Noonan and Denis O'Brien were glued together all night and appeared to be best buddies. Unlike other guests they had personal security with them so staff weren't allowed within close proximity to them without their security alerting them first so nothing of their conversations could be overheard. It's interesting since DOB was being investigated for tax evasion at the time and was of course part of the infamous mobile phone license from Lowry when he was part of FG.

Robbie Williams also acted inappropriately to multiple female staff members and had to be asked to stop slapping them on the arse.

One very big business man uses his company as a cartel and uses really dirty tactics, threatens other companies and people etc.
Locally he's known to have a really short temper and threatens and tries to boss everyone around. He's also known to have hit his wife in public, and also his daughters. Rumour is he sexually assaulted one of his daughters too while drunk.
But nobody will speak out or stand up to him because of his status. Everyone just pretends he's a respected character and the local FF politicians suck up to him.
If he ever gave me any attitude I'd love to fucking headbutt the prick but I don't mix with this inbred community at all. Hate the place.

The hurler is a little knacker. Again would just act like a cunt all round. Used to come into the pub on a friday and get really drunk, start fights with people or just go around knocking pints over. Everyone would just pretend it's all great craic because of who he is.

I don't really either, although I feel a lot more secure and confident in doing the things I like now than I did as a teenager. I remember not watching anime as a teenager and thinking people who did were babies, for example. I've thankfully grown out of that sort of thinking and learned to be myself regardless of how others might perceive it.

But I think the idea of a dramatic mindshift in priorities and outlook as an adult is a concept that only exists in the mind of children.

My secondary used to be a boarding school. I was only in the old dorms once because I was a good boy that didn't want to get caught, they were very strict about you being up there but they didn't mind the fact that we spent a good chunk of our breaks right next to the entrance. They blocked off the dorms after this time some shithead first years went in there to be cool and we stuck a plank between the handles and trapped them in there but the nuns' rooms were still open. Just like the dorms they made no attempt to clean them after the nuns moved out. There were still things scattered about, one room had a small trampoline that was used to help with dyspraxia.

I hear they finally converted them into a cafeteria and some extra bathrooms the year after I finished but I haven't been back since.

Secondary school: First year through to 6th. Junior cert exam in 3rd year, then a transition year in 4th year where you arse around and do nothing but go on trips and do work experience. 5
5th and 6th year is leaving cert cycle and the exam gets you into college.
Irish, English, Maths are compulsory. After that you generally get to select which subjects you do.

Some schools have better choice than others. In my school we didn't really get much of a choice. Was forced to chose between doing Music, Ag Science or Technical drawing. Hated all 3 of those.
>>76480016

Irish society at large feels this way about the catholic church in case you hadn't noticed, particularly in urban areas and among the youth. It's not some sort of special discussion that only happens on Reddit.

Just glad I don't live in whatever part of the country you're in where everyone is still a religious weirdo. Needs to be completely eradicated and wiped off the face of this country.
Thankfully it's going that way. Local church has now started to bring in African priests. Didn't go down to well with all the ould religious people.

My parents were religious but in the past 10 years theyve started to cop on. Now they openly take the piss out of religion and all my relatives have turned the same.
Even my 65 year old grandfather rips the piss out of religion and goes on about how much he hates it, but he still attends funerals and christmas mass etc.
Any of my co-workers in the 40-50 age range have no time for religion either except 1 or 2 of the people nobody likes and it makes the rest of us uncomfortable.

>I'm not so extreme as the sort of person who would try to get the Angelus removed.
It's hardly extreme, it's the national broadcaster promoting religion before the most watched program of the day. Religion shouldn't be forced on anyone in that way, even if it's a small thing. If there was a daily segment of some lad reading from the Quran before home and away every day I wonder if you'd still see it as "trivial".

>What? Why would I give a shit about that? It's just a flag that has no meaning for me.
Weren't you declaring pride parades to be unnecessary before?

Conservatives love the "it's not a big deal" or "there are more important things to worry about" type lines in an attempt to shift the focus from justifying to keep something unjustifiable towards justifying the effort and energy of the change required to fix it.
>>
>>76482403
The Angelus does no harm whatsoever. Hence any energy at all expended in trying to remove it is a waste.
>>
>>76482341
So if Sheikh Halawa were to read a passage from the Quran every day for 1 minute on RTE before a popular program you'd have no issue with this on the basis that it doesn't impact your beliefs and could be easily ignored?
>>
When I'm in charge every supporter of the catholic church and all the harm it causes to Irish society will be the first against the wall to have a bullet implanted in their brain.
>>

It does some harm, anything relating to the state should be entirely secular.
