Jesus christ, don't tell me you dry your clothes on the line like it's the 1800's

as an american that's lived in europe the past 5 years, i've gotten used to this

i hang my wet clothes in my closet and they dry in a few days

things i miss about a dryer is that amazing warm feeling when they just come out, the softness of clothes, and having dry clothes in under an hour. also the dryer takes out the wrinkles so you dont have to iron everything
>>
>>68717430
what the fuck
>>
we use both methods 2bh, some things can't be put in a dryer and it doesn't cost anything to string up a rope in your backyard
>>
i unironically never even seen a dryer
>>
>>68717430
What are you talking about?
>>
>>68717430
We have dryers but it is simple to hang the clothes on a line and get them in later in the day.

Washing machines typically have drying mode. It's not 100% effective it just spin clothes without water for some time but clothes are not really wet.

Also Europe isn't a country, stop talking like it is
>>
the only pro for having a dryer is that you can take clothes from it and they are warm and cozy for like 5 minutes, other than that it's a waste of energy.
>>
Most Europeans don't even have AC. When it's getting to warm in the summer they can't sleep
>>
>>68718463
what do you do when there's no sun?

as in.. 5 months of each year
>>
In Japanese cities most people hang their clothes out to dry on balconies. This has led to scores of crows stealing the hangers and using them as nest-building material, to the extend that the government has organised teams who's specific role it is to locate and destroy these nests, as they are frequently locate on/inside electricity pylons where the metal from the hangers sometimes shorts out the power for entire blocks.
>>
>>68718622
Things dry even in winter, it just takes longer... like days instead of hours.
>>
>>68718622
We have central heating it's warm inside so things dry.
It's much worse in places like Caucases where there are a lot of sun but humidity is so high things stay wet outside.

Fucking hate this clothesline shit.

Just got back from half a year in India. Fucking nobody there has dryers. Half the hotels, hostels, or apartments you stay at don't even have washing machines - labor is so cheap that a lot of affluent people send their laundry with their maids or to professional cleaners.

If you wash your own clothes, you have to wait at least a day for them to dry. It's ridiculous. Even rich people are too cheap to get dryers.
>>
>>68720456
Yeah I never understood that. Just use a fucking kettle
>>
>>68720456

Are you really this fucking poor? Do you not have a coffee maker?
>>
I never liked line dried clothes. They always felt stiff to me. A nice tumble dry makes things soft and fluffy, and you can toss in scented drier sheets so they come out smelling amazing. Plus if you get them out quickly while they are still hot you can flatten them out so you don't have to iron them.
>>
>>68720862

Me too, but I don't buy a coffee machine for 100k rubels.
>>
>>68720970

Also, this. Hate that stiff shit. Last time I did a load of laundry was in the middle of the Thar Desert. All my clothes came off the line feeling like they'd been salted, stretched, and coated in some sort of enamel.
>>
>>68720914
Kettle takes 5 minutes while microwaving takes less than a minute.
>>
>>68720954
Not him, but coffee makers are for peasants. If you actually give a shit about coffee you should at least have a french press. If all you want is the caffeine and you buy cheap shit like folgers and dont care if it tastes like old cigarette butts, then why bother taking up the counter space when you could just go to the store and buy some of those 5 hour energy shots?

And it's much move convenient - my coffee machine grinds beans itself and make espresso. I can fill it with good beans.

Yeah well, I've never heard anyone in america call an expresso machine a "coffee maker".

A coffee maker in america is a cheap piece of shit that boils the water then slowly drips it through the typically cheap garbage coffee and filter into a pot that is heated with a hot plate until someone drinks it. You can buy "fancy" ones that work on a timer so the coffee is finished and nice and gross from sitting there waiting for you to wake up.

It's part of primitive Soviet washing machine from 70's. When I were a kid you could still see them in some old people flat.

When I were a kid people washed some things like socks or underwear. So you don't have to turn washing machine on and deficit expensive washing powder.

You must be mafiosi or an oligarch.
>>

Why would you purchase that shit when you can dry them by hanging? You can even dry your clothes outside during the winter.

i dunno, our bathroom is only 3.25m^2

there isn't any floorspace for it, but i suppose if we had a shelf, we could put it opposite the shower

>>

That's a shame. Where do you put your furnace, water heater, etc?
Aren't your houses already small? Seems like putting a furnace, water heater, washer, and dryer, upstairs would take up space you don't have to spare.
>>
>>68730377
noice

>>68730947
i guess the washing machine is (a) not one that opens from the top (b) doubles as a coffee table when not doing spinning cycle
>>
>>68731066
>That's a shame. Where do you put your furnace, water heater, etc?
i don't have a furnace, and the water heater is in the kitchen on the wall

most people have theirs in a little cupboard, but we were too lazy to build a cupboard around ours, so it just kinda hangs off the wall
>>
>>68731168
>no furnace

How do you kerp warm in winter?
Do you have one of those things that heat up water for shower or dishes instantly and never runs put of hot water? I wish I had one of those. Is yours electric?
>>
>>68731302
>Do you have one of those things that heat up water for shower or dishes instantly and never runs put of hot water? I wish I had one of those. Is yours electric?
yeah, we had one of those put in like 5 or 6 years ago (we just used space heaters in the winter before)

it's fucking amazing man, literally instant hot water whenever you want, and no longer having to wait like 30 minutes for the water to heat up before you take a shower is pretty damn sweet

I'd rather dry my clothes like in the 1800s than do something illegal.

We had a dryer but it got broken I we never fixed it.
there is no use in it anyway because in the summer if hang them outside at the morning by afternoon they are ready.
at the winder it's ready in the next day.
>>
>>68720873
And how do you heat the water?
on the stove with a pot?

anyway it's will take much more time than electric kettles
>>
>>68735272

I have one next to my washer in the utility room of my house...... bought it legally from a shop 3 miles down the road; they actually had a selection of dozens of them.... no police anywhere.
>>
>illegal
Nope, just not necessary. Why would you waste money on one?
>>
>>68717430
What the fuck are you talking about, burger ? Dryers aren't banned.
>>
I have one in my utility room. Stacked on top of the washing machine.

How are dryers illegal in Europe I mean they're not common in here unless the flat is owned by younger people, since we aren't conservative with our power usage like the babushkas who survived communism by counting every watt. I own one myself, now that I have my own apartment and my quality of life has improved vs. when I lived with my babushka in her flat.

No.

By closet, I hope you mean a water closet or some sort of airing cupboard and not putting your wet clothes straight into a clothes closet.
>>
>>68717596

Went to Korea recently, they don't seem to use dryers there either.

>>68721941
>>68721969

I've used a bucket before but I didn't have those tools, they would have been really handy, especially the water squeezer/wringer thing.

I'm ok drying clothes without a dryer but it's nice that dryer clothes are so soft. The first time I dried clothes without one I wasn't expecting how stiff the clothes would feel and I also was used to the dryer shrinking my clothes a bit, so my clothes felt really loose. Also I have never ironed anything in my life
>>
>>68745895

Canada has only 33 million, tons of them being immigrants. We are probably the least densely populated country in the world; with the exception of maybe Namibia or some shit.

This, working in retail has shown me that Irish people have really low standards when it comes to nice weather.
Meaning as long as there is not something falling from the sky or it is wet then it is a nice day.

Well you live in a fucking 24/7 oven so drying clothes is probably not a problem for Aussies.
