>this is the pinnacle of australian contribution to modern civilization
Well Australia has never invented anything other than the boomerang
You've provided a nice 1st world nation for yourself but you haven't made any breakthroughs in tech or pharmaceuticals like America and Britain have
>seen plenty of americans talk about this
>literally never seen one or even heard another australian mention one
>let me tell you about your country
they provided the setting for one of the best simpsons episodes of all time
Served at Outback Steakhouse which is where people go all over the world for Australian cuisine
That dark bread yall invented is godlike as well, always eat the whole loaf and the bloomin onion and chug a pitcher of Foster's before my steak even arrives
>MISTA PROIME MINISTA!...
How many is that by the way?
That being someone that brags about inventions from their country but still goes, "Somebody else would have thought of it eventually," when referring to ones from elsewhere just makes you look like a hypocritical wanker.
If wifi is all you've got then that's not too much to brag about m8
Americans invented essentially everything else that the modern world has and uses including the cell phone and television
it's just one I knew off by heart. I'm sure there are plenty of others. And we probably have even more inventions than the USA if you divide by population since we have a higher HDI.
A few highlights
>Spray on skin
>Cervical cancer vaccine
Why do you guys keep getting set off by this meme?
It's misplaced pride. If you yourself invented something, then yeah, you should obviously be extremely proud. Although then it's your invention, not your country's. But nobody in here did any of the cool shit they love to fall back on and go, "Oh yeah? Well WE made this..."
Pretty much like this:
It has historical significance
>Back in the day
>Govt takes Aboriginal kids away from their families to assimilate them into white culture
>Culturally it had a small measure of success, but some people could never get passed the skin colour thing
>Spray on skin is invented
>Hit all the Abo kids with it
>Just turned them into albino Aborigines, really
>Was a good laugh for about 2-3 decades though
Sounds a little bit pathetic to me. Don't get me wrong, I love this country; I really, really do. I really couldn't imagine being anywhere else and I'm extremely glad to be here. But I'm not about to go borrowing the accomplishments of others for the sake of internet arguments, though.
>give abos a 40,000 year head start before we steal their country
>all they could invent was a stick
Is this one of those threads where we post food that's supposed to be from a country but locals of that country say they've never seen it?
I met a bunch when I was in Sweden and they knew when I showed it to them. They just didn't get the "Danish pastry".
Also I've never seen it like the pic you have there.
