We used to have a dialect called Katharevousa and it was a mix between ancient greek and modern greek grammar.

I wasn't really paying attention in the ancient greek classes, but:

"υμετερος" should be "υμετερα" (btw, I think you can just say "Η πατρις σου", like in modern)
"ένεkα τησ ̓ασέβειασ" could be just "τῇ ἀσεβείᾳ", I think
"θα" is a modern thing
"αποτάνει" should be "ἀποθανεῖ / ἀποθανῇ"

ancient greek is very hard, even for modern greek speakers. you are lucky tho, because it's one of the most studied and analysed languages ever, so you are guaranteed to find good books.
