A friend of mine has polish parents. They came to germany in their 20ies, he (my friend) was born in germany. Yesterday I asked him about what language they spoke at home. He said that they always speak german and always did so. His father didn't even want him to learn polish when he grew up, it was his mother's decision that he should learn it, but he's not good at it because he rarely uses it and it was never any important for him, german was always #1 in the family.
