>no Vocaroo thread
Lads...

Here's one from a book I got to get us started:

You sound Swiss uezs.
>>
>>53587197
Also "st-" and "sp-" at the beginning of words are pronounced "scht-" and "schp-" respectively.
Otherwise it's pretty much flawless.
>>
>>53586917
But where's the obligatory english ?

Someone post some Finnish.

Here's some obligatory English for anyone that wants to practice pronunciation:

>Didn't know what time it was and the lights were low
>I leaned back on my radio
>Some cat was layin' down some rock 'n' roll 'lotta soul,
>he said

>Then the loud sound did seem to fade
>Came back like a slow voice on a wave of phase
>That weren't no D.J. that was hazy cosmic jive

>There's a starman waiting in the sky
>He'd like to come and meet us
>But he thinks he'd blow our minds
>There's a starman waiting in the sky
>He's told us not to blow it
>Cause he knows it's all worthwhile
>He told me:
>Let the children lose it
>Let the children use it
>Let all the children boogie

English sounded good other than the one part you corrected yourself at!

The only issue I heard from the German was where you said "es" instead of "er". Sounded alright to me otherwise though!

There's also no texts written in Tupi in the internet (at least i haven't found any), but there's a government website with an apparently complete course to learn Tupi. I didn't learn the language seriously tho, i just know how to read stuff out loud and some basic grammar

No really without some proper structures to learn it it would be almost impossible. The traces we have left are things like pic related, which translates to this in latin alphabet (it sounds badass as fuck imo) :

Segomaros Ouïlloneos tooutious namaüsatis eïōrou Bēlē sami sosin nemēton.

In english :
Segomaros, son of Uillo toutious (tribe's leader) dedicates this sanctuar to Belisama.
>There's also no texts written in Tupi in the internet (at least i haven't found any)
Can't you find some online archives of documents from that periode maybe ? Since it had an official form maybe it is possible. You should try to take a loo at that course as well, might be interesting !

Damn, that's hard. I find it sad how some languages end up getting lost with time.
I may be speaking bullshit, but don't the people in Britanny speak a celtic language? Isn't it similar to Gaulish?

>Can't you find some online archives of documents from that periode maybe ?
Actually Tupi was basically only a spoken language, people used it to speak with one another in their daily lives but when they had to write documents and such they had to write in Portuguese (we were still a colony). There are veeeery few texts in Tupi on the internet, but there may be some that are preserved in museums, institutes and universities. I intend to study linguistics once i get into college so maybe i'll get my hands on a few texts and post them on the internet

Haha, guess where I am from ? :^)
Breton isn't related to gaulish at all in fact. It comes from what's England today. It is very similar to cornish, it's a briton language. The bretons arrived in Brittany in the 6th century, and by that time gaulish was already dead and had been replaced by vulgar latin. RIP in peace gaulish ;_;7
>There are veeeery few texts in Tupi on the internet, but there may be some that are preserved in museums, institutes and universities
Where did you learn Tupi ? I think it'd be the place to look for texts to practice, and for other speakers eventually.
> I intend to study linguistics once i get into college so maybe i'll get my hands on a few texts and post them on the internet
Definitly ! As you said it's a rare language with few ressources, so if you have the occasion to, you should definitly share it (and who knows, maybe even revive it a bit !). If it is a language that you apreciate, DO IT

DO IT

It's made by the University of São Paulo. It's the only reliable source of Tupi i have yet found.
To be honest in don't have that much interest in learning how to properly speak Tupi right now, i'm trying to concentrate on French and German, and later i intend to learn Spanish, Italian and maybe Latin, so it's not really in my plans.

Have a go at some throat rasping

>Vliegtuigstrepen heten in vakkringen contrails.

Not really. It would make cultural exchange way harder, globally speaking.

Having a romance language gives us a lot in common with French, English (Because of French) and Spanish.

It also has a good range of phonemes and regular vowels, so learning stuff like spoken Japanese is easy as pie.

Not even Afrikaans is as useless as tupi would be.

I think having both Tupi and Portuguese as we had before would be really good for us. It would make our national identity MUCH stronger by having our own unique language, and still mantain the ties we have with other Portuguese-speaking countries. I don't think we should speak ONLY Tupi or ONLY Portuguese, but instead i think we should have been a bilingual country.
It wouldn't be a bad thing at all to speak both languages. In fact, here in the region i live in, people usually speak German and Pomeranian with their family and friends all the time, and still use Portuguese when they go to school or when they have to do something with the government. We already have parts of Brazil that are bilingual so i see no reason as to why being monolingual would be a better choice.
Besides, the only reason Marquês de Pombal forced us to speak Portuguese is so Portugal could have more influence in Brazil and control stuff here more easily, we have been linguistically c ucked.

Well, in light of a bilingual proposal, I must agree it'd be cool! No need for cuck memes.

By the way, I saw you posting Pasquale, are you from 55 as well? I invite you to participate in their new /lang/ board, things are kinda stale around there.

Your sounds are pretty good and clear, but pauses between words are too long, and there are some misplaced stresses

>are you from 55 as well?
Nope.
I have the impression that the only board still alive in 55chan is /b/, and all the others have an incredibly low post frequency.
And i like to talk to gringos on the internet, i can already talk to brazilians irl
>I invite you to participate in their new /lang/ board, things are kinda stale around there.
I'll take a look, seems interesting enough
