most old people are taken care of by their families, plus I think many older people don't lose the motivation to live because being a retired person in Southern Europe is different than being one in northern Europe, the climate allows them to still go out and have lives outside of their home.

Old fucks living longer and longer is thereason why you are now expected to work in your sixties. Everybody should die at 75. The worst is when you have the genes to live long but you suffer a debilitating stroke like my grandpa had at 80 and then carry on for 8 more years like a fucking zombie. He was in great shape until then,still climbing a tall hay cart in his late 70s
