Was counter strike a thing in your country?
It was literally a phenomenon here
I was still young when I was a hit and I sucked at it. My old brother used to play it almost everyday after school and he failed one year of high school because of that, so my parents gave away our PC and I never played PC games until I was 19 I bought my own computer.
>tfw no doritos sponsorship
>2 people left
>time for a mano a mano knife fight
> feels the pressure of an entire 15 member team watching and judging his every move
>faggot breaks and tries to shoot me
>instantly gets banned for being an honorless cunt
>most based admin
CS 1.6 is still a pretty big thing even if a big part of players moved to CSGO
This so much, playing with all my friends there was great, i don't regret a dime i spent there, then everyone got PC's and shit and kids will never experience being called a faggot shithead irl for a headshot, i susspect this is why people are so sensitive to words now adays
1.3 was the high point, all the different weapon types were useful and headshots were difficult to get. 1.5 was shit, colt or ak only really good weapons, spraying to get headshots, 1.6 was shit with shields, which were kind of fun because of how they pissed everyone off.
YES, it was (not that cs go bullshit)
More than 10 years ago, when only a small amount of people could afford a pc, everyone played at computer clubs. As I remember it was about 10 rubles for 1 hour (it was REALLY cheap). Clubs were full of people, kids, teenagers, adults. At that moment there was cs 1.5 or something. That old menu with a CT guy with a helmet. My personal favorite maps were cs_assault and cs_mansion. Every one played it.
yes I often sang this under my breath when I was in mid school
>assault, estate, militia, dust2, aztec, inferno
Fightan is objectively the best MP genre, you subhuman fucks
Well what do you think?
I would say if Counter Strike would belong in a country it would be Sweden. Everyone I have met have played it and is above average.
Yes, but half the time I played deathmatch or gungame because I hated waiting for the game to end if I got killed early. Did no one else do this or was I the only one that sucked/was impatient?
This Tbh. Glock always felt dinky and shitty. USP and AK felt much more accurate. M4 had that weird zig zag spray whereas the AK you could spray at chest level and the second bullet would be at head level.
>there are people in the world RIGHT now who have hit ever something in their lives with the Scout
I shit you not, I'm jinxed when I use that piece of crap, I never hit a single fucking thing even when I'm crouching still and aiming at a static target. On the other hand I'm the kind of person that can rambo their way through a round with a heavy machine gun, I also love the MP5 and in CS:GO the Bizon for cheap, effective bulletization of the scene of conflict.
YOU ARE MY NIGGA. Also fy_buzzkill and utterly legendary fy_pool_day, and all sorts of variations of these three.
>tfw CS:GO matchmaking killed community servers and custom maps
>dat millennium pop punk
>dem millennium mugshots
The only multiplayer shooter I had more fun with was BF2. Was BF2 a thing in other cunts? The squad and commander system in that game were so good when people bothered to use them. Haven't played 3 or 4 though, I heard they're bad somehow.
>tfw I could never figure out how to accurately bomb people from jets and would just get shot down
>tfw you realized the online community was going to shit when most of the games became karkand maps
medic with L86 was my favorite loadout (that nice scope for longer distance shots than other assault rifles could take), plus it was always fun to kill people with the shock paddles instead of the knife
>tfw you missed some ebin games at the height of their popularity simply because they came out at a time when your computer couldn't run new releases
Those were the days when computers were nearly obsolete after two years. I've upgraded my almost five years old PC in autumn and haven't even replaced half the parts, and it was mainly for heat and noise issues, not performance.
>tfw bought CS:GO
>never played it
USP always seemed to have less recoil and higher fire rate. The aim also was precise. Much the same with M4.
Glock is only good if you have perfect aim and use the burst fire.
Scout a shit. You can't 360 noscope headshot with that shit.
de_dust2_so_fundo Where it was only back part of it (the hallway).
Bitches don't know about my close encounter burst fire though, almost like a shotgun in interior maps.
>when a fag runs into your face from around a corner and you put three bullets into his face at the same time
>tfw you dominate arms races in CS:GO but you absolutely fail at anything resembling tactics, especially on maps that weren't already in previous titles
>tfw you will never play on the /int/ cs server
I built a computer for the first time 2 years after BF2 came out. It was amazing going from small static maps in CS to huge 64 player maps where you need planes or helicopters unless you want to spend an hour walking across the map, tanks and artillery and resupply drops, there are goddamn aircraft carriers with aircraft and anti-air guns, and there was true sniping with bullet drop (that glorious feel when someone is sprinting and jumping to cover a mile away and you can barely see them but you lead them with the crosshair an inch above and ahead of them and get a headshot somehow). Too bad the online community turned to crap soon after with everyone playing only karkand map and no squad/commander collaboration.
My older prebuilt computer couldn't play it and by the time I built mine it was mostly empty so I didn't get to really experience it. :/
>tfw you will never be in a nice squad again flying/driving around the map taking over and defending flags
I literally made one of the maps you listed desu senpai
Counter Strike is too slow. If you can't rocket jump your game is shit 2bh
Sure, every boy from the age of 8-20 played it in its heyday. I was around 12-13 at the time and I along with my friends were hooked. It didn't get much TV coverage of course since gaming was still a shunned hobby, not like today with e-sports shows, streams etc. Some guys even made a map of parts of my home town and our school. I had been playing it since some time in the beta and it just kept getting better. Then Condition Zero came...urgh.
That said I never got BR and Russian fascination with games like CS (and others). I guess because it was so cheap and easy to play.
>I put me email in the map text like an idiot
one of the fy maps
I've made half a dozen more fy_ and aim_ maps that were quite popular too
t. old VERC contributor pro
How old are you guys who played 1.6 and earlier? I'm 21 and I only started with Source
CT starts near a balcony overlooking favelas, T starts inside the favelas
That field is between the T and CT spawn (closer to T spawn) if you go around the map and not the closest distance
If that's the one
>sit near the bunker, there the bug pack spawns
>have 20 bugs
>wait till someone runs into the bunker
>trow all bugs into
>listen to someone screaming in the another room of computer cafe
>SHIT BLYAT BUGS HELP SYKA AAAAAA
>hey anon lets play nothing but scoutknivez
much like dota only the shittiest maps thrived
>join kosovar/albanian server
>type "kosova je serbia"
>laugh as your own team tries to kill you
>tfw it was always hard for me to find a nice fy_iceworld server
>>listen to someone screaming in the another room of computer cafe
Haha I used to have one dude in the other room to spy on them where they are. If he raised left hand they are going B site, right is A.
My PCs always were shit for CS. First one was built in 2003, CS:S lagged like crazy. Then I bought a laptop in 2008, damn Core2Duo couldn't do shit in games. After that I bought another laptop in 2012, with nice and dandy i7 this time. But it's not that good anymore because, you know, it's 2016. But I have no money for a new one after Russian economy went down the hill. I hope I'll manage to buy some decent PC in 2018 or 2019.
>numerous westerners complaining about subpar hardware but acceptable internet
>here I am with my 2500K and 970 playing AAA games offline because of government-mandated shitty infrastructure
because americans arent competitive and always blame their failures on external factors like luck.
seriously us has some decent talent, but like in every e-sport, americans are just whiny pussies that care more about the money than winning
cafes here were so awesome before good internet/pcs started being easily accessible
sadly they are pretty much dead now, at least where i live
you would go there in a saturday morning and only come home late night. it was such a great time.
we mainly played warcraft 3 TFT, cs1.5/1.6, C&C, diablo 2, age of empires 2. those were the best lan games at the time
>age of empires 2
Life was so simple and enjoyable back then
>used to spend hours messing about with cool (and weaboo) weapon models and sounds etc in 1.5, 1.6, source etc
i made the supermarket in front of my house once. 2 weeks of hard labor and i've lost it forever except for this jpeg
Thanks for the offer anon, but I would make a shitty friend. I never know what to say and a childhood of being told no one cares what I had to say left me irreversibly feeling the same towards others. Besides, I don't play games anymore. I haven't enjoyed it in years. Don't know if it's just me or if games are just shitty now (actually tried GTA V a few weeks ago but was extremely disappointed compared to the ps2 generation GTAs)
Like you said, yes, but I think it's coming back
Also, playing CS and Dota in netcafes were certainly the best moments in my life
Most of that stuff applies to a lot of people here but one thing I realized is that people are extremely perceptive of your projected confidence.
Just relax, don't attach any value (I mean zero value) to the opinions of others and you went place undue expectations on yourself (to acquire their friendship).
>(actually tried GTA V a few weeks ago but was extremely disappointed compared to the ps2 generation GTAs)
I know this feel. I will never live that youthful joy and innocence of playing GTA during middle school and high school. Now I feel like games are just a procession.
I recently begun learning other languages and playing games without any competitive pressure and purely for my OWN enjoyment. I advise you to do the same
Steam was, and still mostly is, fucking garbage. I understand their reasoning for shutting down WON but fuck for the average schmuck there was no reason to. It didn't even work half the time. Also CZ and 1.6 were shit.
>Just relax, don't attach any value (I mean zero value) to the opinions of others and you went place undue expectations on yourself (to acquire their friendship).
Easier said than done, but even when I'm successful at it I just have no idea what to respond to people with other than very short answers, let alone think of things to talk about. My mind is a blank.
>I recently begun learning other languages and playing games without any competitive pressure and purely for my OWN enjoyment. I advise you to do the same
Listening to language tapes when exercising is fun and makes it go by faster. I've given up on games though. I even tried The Witcher and MGS Ground Zeroes and couldn't get into them (even though MGS1-3 were some of my favorite games ever).
Super popular, especially in southern france.
People going to café or playing at home, tons of small LANS.
Eventually it grew with a french community with memes and all.
Also idk if this one was already posted but it's a classic
nah, like someone said, after a time was too easy to have computers and internet connection, so they slowly died, most already went bankrupt, closed
jesus, I'd give everything just to live that euphoria one more time
>My mind is a blank.
Same thing used to happen to me. I stopped placing that hovering 'I am going to disappoint them' thought on the top of my head and acted completely naturally. I figured, if they'll hate me for what I truly am, they're not worth having as friends. Try it once and you'll begin developing confidence, anon. Once they see something genuine and nice in you they'll reveal their own shortcomings and open up to you.
I also have the aussie shitposting mentoring to thank. No one would believe a true Sudanese poster wouldn't try to appease people on an online forum because of his background and shithole
But I broke through that with rampant shitposting and in the process had a lot of nice conversations with people from America, France, Faroe Islands, expatriates in Japan, menabros, etc.
I think you should try it. You'll have a lot of fun in the process and you'll gradually stop putting other people's opinions ahead of your own self-evaluation.
I only went to the local lan place two or three times to try it out. I saw no point when I had my own gaming pc and no friends to play there with anyway.
Thanks for the support anon. I'm saving this post for future reference. Thing is though it's not always about that fear of disappointing. Sometimes it is, but a lot of the time I don't really care about what the person thinks but still can't think of a response to things other than ok, yes, no, etc.
Good fucking times that will never come back.
>awp_porno(yes this was a map made by BRs)
Best of all.
>Thanks for the support anon
Your always welcome, bro.
>I'm saving this post for future reference
Glad I was able to provide any form of assistance with my experience
>Sometimes it is, but a lot of the time I don't really care about what the person thinks but still can't think of a response to things other than ok, yes, no, etc
I underwent the same transition. I used 4chan as an expressive outlet because there was no time limit and pressure to carefully compose my posts, but later with practice I improved immensely IRL. I began reading tech websites and discussing the latest news with people outside the mobile phone and computer.
And best of luck anon on all future endeavours, hopefully we'll meet another time (maybe even oustide 4chan, who knows) :)
I was a source babby
USP, even though the Glock was pretty based in pistol rounds, dem burst fire jumping shots
AK because more damage and dat first shot accuracy
AWP of course, only pub shitters cry about the AWP
As a kid I was convinced I had to download every patch one after the other in order to play
So I had to redownload every single patch from my CD version to the current version every time my computer died.
I wasn't very smart.
Mostly because for internet everyone went to internet Cafes
Now everyone is staring at their phone, cs is ded.
csgo is still a thing but very minor and not really played t lan at all.
Inferno, Nuke, Cbble
I just liked CT sided maps, because it's more of a challenge as a Terrorists
Famas and USP are based m8, mp5s are good to mow down enemies in eco rounds. If you die, the enemies just have a shitty mp5 instead of a real rifle.
>the best "swedish" CS player was him
Speeds were slower back then I don't think that's a surprise. You always pay a price for convenience, I'm just sad that so many people were willing to pay that price. People new to the hobby don't even have any idea of downloading patches piece meal since every company has some sort of launcher or distribution platform. Easier to control.
The most known player here is HeatoN, and is usually refered to as the best.
>Was counter strike a thing in your country?
It's been more than a few years but honestly was there anything wrong with 1.5? I never played pro so I'm probably overlooking things but it just felt like a really solid game where nothing really needed to be changed. Then came 1.6 and Source and so on and it never really made any sense to me.
protestant gaming ethic
tbqh i think it has a lot to do with that we were early adopters of personal computers and the internet
>raiding the warehouse
>defending the warwehouse
>the sniper battles from the roof of the building with ladder and the warehouse
counter strike will never be this good again
Most Israeli soldiers have played Counter-Strike at some point of their life.
>tfw the Galil was first introduced
>get cs go
>BRS talking loud on mic
>leave the server
>mfw my only job was to sit in the vent as T or stand just below it at the ladder inside the warehouse and kill any intruders
>sometimes i'd crawl up into the vent leading to the hostages and wait for someone to crawl by
ayy, we called it SLON (means elephant)
mp5 - PUKALKA (farter)
FN P90 - PETUH (a cock)
GALIL - Chinese Kalashnikov (because it looked like a AK but was shitty )
FAMAS - PILA (a saw)
Steyr Scout - MUHA (a fly)
M249 - Ded (grand dad)
M4A1 - emka
AUG - b-4-4
i was once playing with that weapon and i killed one guy , he raised up and screaming ''who killed me with ''mata pombo?''(pomb killer) and i almost shit myself and didnt said anything
>I preferred casual shit like gungame.
I liked the instant respawn but having a pistol against people with rifles and awps just meant I would get owned even more than usual.
>we also called AWP SLON
>Galil was fake Kalash (aka Chinese AK)
>M4A1 was Emka
>AUG was b44
Are you sure you've never been to Serbia?
i started playing cs go a while ago
>each level you get a drop and can sell it on steam market
oyy veyy i love this game
>friend gets into FPS by playing MW2 on his xbox360, becomes addicted
>show him CS, he says the aiming is too difficult, too fast, accurate, and unforgiving
>play dust2 with deagle, kill 4 people in a row, have one bullet left but don't want to reload in case I come across somebody
>someone pops out of nowhere, I get an accurate as hell headshot
>friend was really impressed
Felt good until I realized the only time I ever impressed anyone was by playing a video game.
at least you have impressed someone once
That instant mouse snap to his head and then "counter-terrorists win" felt great. That was like six year ago though and I haven't talked to that friend in years and I doubt he remembers it, so there's nothing to be proud of.
We called most of the rifles by their number
kalachnikov = 4-1 "quatre-un"
zoomed terro rifle = 4-2 (tho no one bought that one anyway)
M4 = 4-3 "quat' trois"
Aug = 4-4 "kat kat"
desert eagle = deagle
awp = awap
Yes, because romanian teens are tech illiterate they are still playing the 1.6 game just because they can't afford new upgrades or prefer buying a fucking pre-build with integral graphics for 2000 lei.
