Why when Germans are speaking English they'll speak English entirely correctly and not use any German but when it comes to fries/chips they say pommes? Why just for that one word do you Germans switch to German?
Also why do Germans have trouble with the word since and use the word "handy" for mobile phones?
this is a pomme, op's pic is a pomme de terre and first of all it is a frite
germans if you're gonna borrow our words at least do it right thank you
You have to admit that handy is a better description than mobile phone. When was the last time you made a phone call with that thing?
We call them pommes because you cab't decide how you want to name them
It's "Pommes", "Fritten" or "Pommes frites".
Because those were not really "handy" back then...
>pomme de terre
A Kartoffel (potato) is also called Erdapfel (Soil-apple, pomme de terre) in low-german...
