Maybe install some apps like Weibo or Tencent Video on your phone to see how much more advanced and fun it is than what's happening in the West.
I learn mandarin since 2012 and I'm planning to move to Shanghai in 2017. I look forward to leave Europe before it definitely sinks desu.
