>Pope orders you to stop
>Germany declares war on me
>The Pope excommunicates me for fighting back
literally this, OP take a fucking boat, fill with ALL armies you can muster and sail to rome and fuck them. after you take the region start training a fuck load of priests, who auto upgrade to cardinals and BOOM you basically win ever new election
I tried doing this as the Byzantines, in an attempt to expand my territory while the Mongols were fucking shit. The campaign saw great sucess, I took all of Italy in 3 turns or so, but the cost of maintaining the garrisons and fleets against invaders nearly bankrupted me and I had to pull out to defend Asia minor.
3/10 would not Byzantine crusade again
Nothing wrong with simulating huge battles and sieges mayn.
Side note tho
>Rightful Genoan clay
This was like, the first successful game I ever played 3 years ago
They are one of my favourite historical empires, so it sucks. I tried playing as them in Kingdoms, but doing anything but auto resolve results in mass routes from all my fucking units
You're not conquering fast enough, I owned most of Italy and some of HRE by the time mongols came
Use your early units to take out the Turks and Hungarians quickly and send priests ahead for converting
Make Constantinople into the jewel of the Mediterranean it's supposed to be
>Either my videocard or motherboard is on the blink
>Using onboard graphics right now so I can't play any game that uses even a moderate amount of resources
>All I want to do is play 30 Years War, but I can't
Why don't you just spam a fuck load of assassins and sent them to Rome and assassinate the pope whenever he's being a cunt. After the assassins score a few successful kills, they'll be able to kill the pope at any time easily, especially right after he spawns.
what a shame senpai, that mod is GOAT
>trying to not go to the point of unpayable bankrupcy while smacking heretics as spain
Perhaps your should reduce army size?
The original Medieval:TW and Viking Invasion got insanely good after you had played several factions to completion, some multiple times, and let the game keeps the logs.
It was like playing against dozen of previous campaigns, which is absolutely vicious if you're an aggressive player vs AI.
But the good thing was, that the AI built a proper diplomatic intelligence, like declaring into extended wars and economical problems, and not leaving themselves completely defenseless when helping allies.
It gets absolutely brutal if you play through a .conan campaign, and the rebels start working as a united front.
>I don't usually play manual battles in total war games
Be struggling as Greece on extended timeline when suddenly Trump pops up
What's your favorite faction to play as in SS? Or even in Vanilla medieval 2?
I personaly like to play as byzantium and try to restore the empire
bretty good though imo it is too dated, some things are just retarded, like the population that spirals out of control to the point that you have to slaughter your own people regularly in the late game
still a great game for its time
>like the population that spirals out of control
I finds this part of the "Medieval Ages Experience" since overpopulation was a problem back then
Squalor always barely controllable and plagues every couple of years
Download NTW3 for Napoleon, literal god tier mod
why aren't you guys talking about INVASIO BARBARORVM II: CONQVESTVS BRITTANIAE III?
it's the best mod for m2tw. huge map of nw europe, can sail down the loire, seine, & rhine. look at all those factions, too, sorry about the names being in french
there's romano-celtic culture, pagan culture, germanic pagan, romano-gallic
the unit rosters are intense and everything has extensive historical descriptions
