Italy got BTFO by a country with outdated guns, mostly untrained soldiers, little artillery and only decent tactical experience, the only advantage Ethiopia had was their skilled leadership. Doesn't help that Musollini put so many resources and manpower into his 2nd invasion of the country that he had to ask Hitler to let them back out of the axis until 1942 (Hitler didn't listen).
