>.72 freedom cents to one whole "LOONIE"
And at the start of 2015 our dollar was higher than yours. Shit happens when you have a resource-based economy.

>High taxation to pay for """""free""""" healthcare and Trudeau's refugees
The taxes are honestly pretty reasonable. Also, FYI, you pay more tax dollars per person for healthcare than we do.

>fucked up cost of living
...how? The cost of living in a major city is comparable to a major city in the States, and everywhere else is the same. Only difference is that it's in Canadian dollars as opposed to American, and we make more money (in Canadian), so really it comes out to about the same.

>10 ranks lower than us on GDP per capita
...you also have ~10x the population, actual useable land, and so on. Frankly it's a surprise we're so high.

>90% of land uninhabitable frozen wasteland so the entire country clings to us for warmth
And most of your country is on the coasts, what's your point? People go where the weather is nice.

New suburbs just outside Vegas.
>>
>>53069437
Not enough property for a rural boy like me, but that's still just an amazing feat of human accomplishment that we can settle in a fucking desert and totally thrive.
>>
>>53069501
I don't know if I'd call Vegas, or anything in Southern Nevada, Arizona, or New Mexico "thriving".
>>
>>53069529
>access to housing, food, water, television, internet, vehicles and entertainment

American "cities"
>>
>>53069597
Having amenities =/= thriving.

There's still the issue of energy (for cooling, etc.), the fact that you NEED a car, the whole water supply issue, and so on.

The desert States are pretty shitty. I lived in Arizona for a bit and visited Southern Nevada a couple of times, and...it's not sustainable at all. Not really any room for growth (due to the issues mentioned above, water being the biggest one), and even if they stay the same size they'll run out of water within our lifetimes.
>>
Urban planning in Canada and the US is equally bad. Could never live in a car suburb like this >>53069316 , want to have a grocery store by walking distance and good public transportation so there's no need to own a car.

What do you do if you want to go to the grocery store though? Waste $5 on fuel every trip?
>>
The urban planning isn't bad. Roads are set up in a convenient way for the most part, but there's just so much fucking land here that we don't need everything everything in one compact area
>>
>>53069645

>Waste $5 on fuel every trip?

Answered your own question, mate. Same if you want to go to the movies, go shopping anywhere, go out for a drink, or even leave your neighbourhood at all.
>>
>>53069893
Shit, I'd honestly prefer to have to take a 20 minute walk to get groceries than drive... That seems like hell...
Always thought Simcity/Cities Skylines cities or videogame cities like in GTA looked weird, but they seem pretty accurate to America.
I live in a rural area though an dhave never lived in a city, so maybe I'm biased.
>>
>>53069962
Australian urban planning is almost similar to North American desu.
>>53069854
>Roads are set up in a convenient way for the most part
And that's the problem. You're building a city for the cars, not for the people.
>>
>>53069793
He's talking about the cities you were posting. American has a lot of cities, plenty of which are really fun and have a lot to do (especially if you have money). You haven't posted NY, Boston, San Francisco, Miami, hell even Burlington (great food there).
>>
>>53070107
Rural towns seem to be a bit different.
There's a lot of scattered grocery stores/etc in my town so you're never really more than a 10 minute walk from one

I dislike southern English seaside towns for this reason.
At worst, they are commieblock shitholes.
At best, they have nice, pastel architecture, but it looks silly surrounded by grim mud/sand.
