Oh, cool! Thanks for using my drawing.
>>3113380
I like your boxes a lot anon, pretty clean. Hope I'll get there eventually
Postan.
>>3113402
Why is this so hard?
>>3113404
Life is hard, and we don't stop trying until we're dead.
>>3113409
Speak for yourself, I gave up long time ago.
>>3113402
>>3113404
Nice man. You're on your way.
Did this 1 minute timed sketch. I like the way it turned out and wrote some notes about what I noticed about the anatomy... anyone care to share thoughts on potential mistakes that jump out? I know I messed up the lower right leg (and tried to fix it ha). But besides that I think it's more or less correct?
How readable are these?
>make a drawing of a musician
>musician likes my drawing and leaves a nice comment
All those people that told me I'm ngmi? Well guess what. I still won't make it, but now I feel less bad about it.
Fuck it /ic/ this shit was fun
>>3113487
>All those people that told me I'm ngmi?
The people telling you that are only doing it so you grow a tougher skin, which is paramount to succeeding in art.
>>3113495
No, I just tell beginners that because it makes me feel good.
>>3113496
Yeah what this guy said
>>3113496
>>3113497
>Being this resentful
NGMI
How am I doing?
How are today's loomis heads?
Day 5 with my drawing tablet.
Still really hard for me not to chicken scratch.
>>3113520
I like this
looks like she;s holding in a fart
construction doesn't make any sense to me. how the heck do I break down this face?
did this in about 2 hours, any criticism would be appreciated. the tits look a bit flat to me but idk how to define them better
>>3113547
Well your first mistake was trying to fit a sphere into a circle
>>3113552
what
>>3113549
Those hips are fucking ridiculous, slim it down
You might think it looks "sexy" but to anyone else it looks fucking stupid
>>3113543
Very neat. You are not a beginner.
>>3113561
do you have the transfer on your pen set to pressure?
Ok, I think I posted in the wrong thread before
>>3113547
Hair isn't part of the skull, so your sphere shouldn't be so large
>>3113574
another one.
Also, how do I make faces that don't look cartoony?
>>3113569
transfer is like controlling opacity with how hard you press down right? if so yes.
>>3113574
>>3113581
These are pretty nice. Your cartoony faces are cool, I like the style. But if you want to make them more realistic, study real eyes (obviously). Try to copy an eye without resorting to drawing symbols, i.e. draw the shapes and forms that you see, and not the parts of the eye that you think you know.
>>3113547
Welp I couldn't get the construction to work so I just free-handed it. Looks like shit. Whatever. Back to fundies for me.
>>3113517
pretty good. hair is too thin on her left side and face needs to turn a bit more toward the viewer.
>>3113519
those are pretty consistant. are you going to add and facial features? doesnt have to be perfect.
>>3113520
is it a dog?
>>3113543
i really like this, was she supposed to look uncomfortable?
>>3113547
the circle is her skull with the brain cavity. shes got a angular jaw which connects with the skull.
>>3113549
the proportions are very odd to me. Is each thigh larger than her trunk and thorax? than, how are the supposed to connect?
>>3113574

these are too large filesizes.
im trying best not to symbol draw but i already know i might of. whatever, this is practice anyways and i already spent a hour on this image. im going to move on to rendering and will post this back tommorow with ref.
>>3113547
My highly unscientific breakdown
>>3113604
>are you going to add and facial features?
Everything goes to shit when I add any kind of facial features. I thought I'd get the head shape down first as it's kind of unmotivating to see the okay looking head ruined.
I'll try to start adding some seriously though. Pic related is some I've done before but I realize they are just symbols and have no form. Going to copy from reference for the features
>>3113547
L O O M I S
I did a terrible job though
>>3113604
>is it a dog?
It's teemo from league of legends.
He's a little smug shit
>>3113610
It's okay, but it's not construction.
First time here, I am confused a little. In the book(How to draw, scott robertson), he says to practise these kind of perspective box things, and the diagrams are so neat and lines are so straight, am I supposed to use a scale/ruler, or do I sketch these lines freehand ? they don't come out as straight as in the book. Also, are you even supposed to use rulers/circle makers(I dunno what they're called) or make it just by your muscle memory ?
>>3113632
Draw the horizons and stuff with a ruler, the boxes without
But before you move on to freehand drawing maybe try drawing perfect cubes in perspective with a ruler, that'll give you an eye for foreshortened lengths.
>>3113633
Checked. Thanks, will do. Should I keep practising my lines and cubes until I can draw a straight line without a ruler ?
>>3113517
you're doing well. Here's some stuff I noticed.
i tried vilppu technique, spent 5 minutes at every pose, any thoughts?
>>3113632
Your objects should be 5 times smaller than the distance between the two vanishing points. Basically, you should be able to fit 5 boxes in between the vanishing points, otherwise it looks retardedly distorted.
Scott uses rulers for most of the stuff in the book, but you should be training both.
>>3113647
it's a quintessentially cute photo. when you get it right it feels rewarding.
>>3113642
What is the Vilppu technique?
>>3113649
Ok cool, I'll try it out. Thanks!
>>3113650
Fist yourself with your drawing hand before you draw poses
could I get some tips on colouring this and what I should do to improve it?
>>3113639
Well you could practice your straight lines while drawing cubes
Did this from imagination. I really need to get my chicken scratching under control lol
>>3113669
Same as when simplifying lines when drawing, try to simplify the color values (areas of a similar color become one color). stick with big brushes, squint at the piece to get the overall feel right. then dive into details. Try to refrain from using black (it creates dirty looking gradients. set black accents at the end).
put a lot of love into the eyes, when you get that right it elevates your piece the most and breathe life into it.
Observe which areas have smooth gradients (e.g. forehead), and which have sharp corners (e.g. silhouette). Emphasize that.
keep patiently at it.
>>3113669
Her eyes are way to far apart, her forehead is very thick, her nose is uneven. She has no eyelids, the eyes are different sizes. I would recommend fixing the proportions way more before colouring. When colouring use a less blurry brush and use much more contrast, try having more difference in colour, rather than shade of a colour. But most importantly, fix the proportins.
>>3113669
Can't tell without the ref but her nose looks symbol drawn.
Does this look proportionate? It's supposed to be a small Texan house
I keep getting this odd behavior in photoshop where I draw a small curve and for some reason it registers a light/small "Flick" to close the circle/curve no matter what the fuck I do to the pen. This only happens in photoshop, I can do small curves fine in other programs.
Is this some known problem or am I just retarded and have some wrong setting?
Posting my first shot at digital painting/painting in general. Took a long ass time with a mouse
>>3113738
cool. blend the colors a bit to give it a more coherent feel. like add a touch of that skirt's blue to the grey pocket, because right now it looks kinda disconnected. Same with the rest.
>>3113738
pretty good, add a background to make the colours pop (doesnt have to be detailed just some colours to make it stand out).
You could maybe try adding texture to the coat and sash and things too.
>>3113743
Yeah a variety of textures would add a lot of visual interest
>>3113694
You always say you need to improve something but you never actually do
>>3113753
It's a tough habit to break.
>>3113756
draw 10 studies with LONG SWOOSHY lines. It's okay if you fuck it up. if you don't, it's pointless to even talk about you wanting to break that habit and makes it seem like you're just bullshitting.
Study
>>3113776
very nice. soft and crisp. I dig it. more love for the collarbone because it's such a beautiful body part. shoulder on the left a tad too low and lacks a bump. overall could invest a bit more time into this
>>3113776
Damn nice, wish I had the experience to critic. How long did it take you to do?
>>3113750
metal reflects, so mixing in some color from neighboring elements makes even more sense.
>>3113776
Is there a point to this yellow background?
>>3113495
pretty sure they are doing it out of ressentiment senpai
>>3113765
Ok this is my last chicken scratched study. No matter how bad the next studies come out, I will not scratch.
i tried to use different lines, thicker next to shadow
>>3113887
>>3113776
You have everything in the right place, but your values are off. You need to analyze the form in order to correctly see the values.
>>3113887
Try drawing with opacity on pen pressure. Don't try drawing 100% accurate lines on the first attempt, but try "finding" the correct line with very light strokes, until you have the correct line. This should help you to start feeling how to use line weight.
>>3113892
thank you so much anon, this is exactlyy what i needed
>>3113488
Those arms are extremely short my man.
>>3113669
It's completely fucked mate, you need to redraw everything first.
>>3113694
Hold your pencil at a higher point, further away from the tip. You chicken scratch probably because you hold your pencil right next to the point, so it's harder to articulate long lines.
>>3113906
very dynamic. I think especially for a drawing like this, you need a more drastic range in your values. It always shows more pop and gives your drawing real life. Try going in and changing up the lin weights and having more 'pure black' parts.
good luck and keep it up mangakanon
imagination training
>>3113939
Try to train yourself to imagne adult women.
>>3113936
Eyes are too bright and big (unless you're going for the anime look).
Squint your eyes, flip your canvas and correct them.
Also you didn't put black in darkest areas, which makes the image look washed out.
Any advice please.
I'm not sure how to move into more detail and how to make a background
wat do to make less shitty? .-.
>>3114004
make new layer
multiply top layer
add purple to bottom layer so it looks like the flame is glowing on the figure
Shit I forgot to not chicken scratch again. Oh well :/
>>3114004
I understand the hand struggle but you gotta dedicate hours to that. Make a blank canvas right now and draw 50 hands in random positions. Forget the torso, the forearm is fine to draw for perspective. Trust me, shit like that needs to be bootcamped.
>>3114043
you must be a troll. please stop posting.
>>3114043
That's the least of your problems.
>>3114004
How are you so good?
>>3114056
Ah crap, then I look at the hand! ><
You're right, I've gotta practice that shit.
>>3113371
wtf is this am i doing it right? this has taken me like 4 hours give or take i have no idea what I'm doing but I dont want to stay in my drawing comfyhole the whole time
>>3114072
Learning hands gave me so much more confidence to more interesting positions. I'm not great but I improved alot. Try using references for a while but make sure you can do it from imagination so you know if its actually sinking in.
Trying to do armour designs. Based this off of World of Warcrafts Wardens mixed with the style of a Demon hunter in that game. Any advice on how to push if further?
>>3114070
Don't do this to him man
>>3114070
So fucking tired of this shit.
>>3114075
What's your drawing comfyhole?
Starting to look good and you're close but a few distances/angles are throwing the thing off.
1) Look at the distance from the sides of the nose, on both sides, to her eyes. You need to close the distance on both of them and allow her right eye to overlap slightly.
2) Very carefully look at the angle of the nose base, and make adjustments to the slant of the rest.
3) The lips need to curve with ball of the mouth. It's a bit hard to see but i think you've misinterpreted her top right lip to curve in, when really it curves out.
You would benefit from using construction lines if you aren't already. Overlay it and see how yours compares.
If you really want to see the volume, of the face, trace the curves on the face (eyes, mouth) around the head. There's more perspective, and more tilt there than you show.
Which is all drawing anyway.
I think I'll stop here.
>>3113480
Most are to me. Got problems with top left, the one right next to 2, and the one bottom right, tho.
I just can't into art.
>>3114285
It's better than what I can do. Keep at it!
I just realized we can't ever look at the references the old masters used. So how do we know how close they were to mimicking the source vs simply drawing something that idealized the human form. Perhaps I've been thinking wrongly of what art is and what my objective should be.
Draw beautiful things, and don't try to mimic reality. I forget who said it, but there's a quote that I think can be applied to all forms of art.
"A drama is just life, with all the boring bits taken out" -
Just sharing some thoughts.
>>3114287
Thank you, anon. I sure will, considering giving up is what stops me from drawing/further my practicing to improve.
>>3114216
I appreciate the extensive feedback
My drawing comfyhole is just that i'm comfortable with drawing and dont just want to draw without challenging myself occasionally
Second, I appreciate the proportion feedback but I'm mostly concerned with painting draftamanship and how to got gud at that. I threw the actual colours out the window for experimental reasons, e.g., and want to know how to make a photoshop painting without messy roundbrush marks everywhere like advice on which brushes to use etc; i probably should have mentioned this in my original post
>>3114143
Don't ever base a design from anything from Wow. It's all hot garbage.
>>3114293
we emphasize what makes us feel good. Those hyperrealism guys get a boner when something looks like a photo, plus they get a lot of validation because people think it's impressive. So that's what they do. Whereas anime is a really good story telling device, so it gets maxed to be super funny, cute, and eye catching.
any1 got any pencil recommendations

>>3114317
did you manually type his post number instead of clickquoting it...
Did my best to not chicken scratch but my hand slipped a lot
>>3114404
why don't you try it yourself
>>3114397
make a drawing purely with swift loose long lines. not a single short one (yes you'll miss some details and overshoot, it's fine). similar stroke speed as in gif. pauses between strokes are ok
Before I start outlining it, what do you think? What should I improve?
>>3114421
/asg/ is over there pal.
I need a path. A list of books in a certain order that'll take me from babby to gud.
>>3114443
thanks
How does one gauge the depth of a cylinder?
I mean, I get in theory the far end of the circle at one of the ends should be the "back," but it just feels off compared to looking at a cube.
drew some boxes,made them furnitures.
I've been drawing basically exclusively heads since I started just to get better in general. Is it worth continuing this as I really want to get good at them. Or should I draw some other shit too?
End goal is realism tier heads but I also want to draw weebshit aswell. Weebshit not going well though so focusing on this
How bad are these? Should I focus on drawing features or things yet?
>>3114509
dude, if you cant do them from other angles then you cant do them at all, you are just repeating the same symbol over and over.
>>3114498
Yeah, no problem. After all, the noyl way to get better at something is to draw them. Drawing other stuff sort of spreads out your gains but it helps break boredom since most people can't do the same thing over and over for too long before going crazy.
>>3114524
I can't even do them from the angle I posted well. I've been changing it up but I'm trying to focus on one angle before I change.
>>3114530
I don't really mind doing the same thing over. I've done about 40 pages of this so far. It's a little off putting when I consistently get it wrong but that just makes me want to practise some more
>>3114531
https://sketchfab.com/models/1a9db900738d44298b0bc59f68123393
Look at the edges and examine carefully what happens as you tilt the skull to the sides. You'll find that a ton of these angles that are formed on turning the skull are found on people over their flesh as well.
Try drawing heads and make sure to look at the skull as well.
>>3114531
it will help you fraw them better to learn them from other angles. its the way you should be practicing right now
>>3114542
Not him, but I find encapsulating the head in a cube helps. Is this a crutch that's going to fuck me up later, or is it ok as a learning step?
>>3114550
use this for now https://sketchfab.com/models/b7e2cd611d844df9b69efdc9be6d0215
try and do the main 8 angles. post them even if they are bad.
>>3114550
That should really only be used a guide since you still have to draw the head accurately from observation. Yes, it's okay as a learning step, but you still got to know how to draw.
Feels bad man
Am i doing this right?

Shit dude I've been looking for a simple rule of thumb like that for dealing with fov forever now, thanks yo
Does anyone else search for arrangements of geometric shapes when they figure sketches? I Saw this combination of two triangles and a truncated pyramid that may be helpful drawing a male figure from this position. For some reason the left pec looks off. But looking at the reference image I can't pintpoint. Anyone care to weigh in on that and any other potential mistakes? Thanks. I also did this, if anyone care to comment, thanks. >>3113479

Also, stop drawing on post-its.
First week, started with pencil but switched to pen now. Trying to adjust to drawing from the shoulder and neaten up those lines.

I enjoy it so much more when I'm drawing fanart
>>3114683

>>3114679
Sounds like someone has severe autism :^)
Real new beginner here
Guys what the fuck? Literally all of you are better than most artists I've seen online. That's not hyperbole in anyway. How the fuck are any of you "beginners"? I have a month experience and I can't even begin to approach some of you guys yet.
>>3114678
From what I can immediately see, the mouth is too small, the eyes are too small, the nose is too small. Just keep in mind relative sizes, and you should do better, that's pretty much what art is about: relative sizes.
Things like knowing my dick is 3 times bigger than yours, so if you're drawing my dick after drawing your dick there'd be three times as much dick for my dick, you know?
I recommend keys to drawing. It's really good at teaching ways to keep proportions in mind in like the third or fourth chapter (can't recall).
>>3114686
how is that autistic
>>3114679
Fuck dude, each day that passes I'm enjoying it more and more.
At first it was pretty fucking hard to even draw every day, but I stuck with it. Now, it's bizzare how much I crave for it, to the point where I feel weird if I don't do it.
If only I could stop doing studies and start doing some actual artwork ;_;
>>3114690
That's how I feel about exercising.
>>3114687
Compare the posts in here to those in the draw thread
>>3114692
Yeah but fuck off if you're telling me this thread is "beginners" as in my level. What the fuck are people like me even supposed to post? 90% of the people posting here are beyond that.
>>3114688
Couldn't I just make the face shape and the hair smaller, in that case?
>>3114693
post your work
>>3114692
There is a ton of overlap desu. The biggest difference between a beginner and a novice is the amount of time they spend on one drawing. A beginner will take 30-60 minutes on a decent drawing, a novice will spend 30-60 minutes PLANNING where the drawing will go.

mine. sloppy pencil work, i had no pencil sharpener. continueing even though its symbol drawn.
>>3114694
No, because the way you did it the eyes still have a disproportionate distance between them, and the mouth would still have a disproportional size compared to the eyes, and the same for the nose. For instance, look at how much longer the mouth is compared to the width of the nose; it's like double Billy! Your's is like 1.2 times the nose line.
Check these lines out, look how disproportionate they are to each other, compared to the drawing in the example.
The best way to go about proportions is to choose a unit to compare the next distance you're gonna mark before you do it. For instance, you might pick the width of an eye and then measure in eyes, or maybe the width of the nose, for instance.
I like the eyes, btw.
anything to say about this?
>>3114700
Not doodled at school, I'm struggling with smoothness as you can see in my lines. I'm not sure if it's because I'm not used to drawing from the shoulder or my pen grip is wrong, but even when it feels like I made a smooth motion, it's shaky.
>>3114285
How the fuck is this not art?
These name of muscles doesn't have consistence
It's confusing
What the actual fuck?
Beside some muscles written wrong.
>>3114747

He downright says the first week that nothing he will say is "magic information" because it's so basic but he starts drawing other things in photoshop and explains the usefulness of how everything will come together--it's pretty cool actually.
Week 2 he's just constantly drawing shit based on the lecture and drawing things based on what was asked like "Do you notice any difference working on a cintiq vs paper for line quality do you recommend staying with one or going back/forth to "on the discretion of object, I had a hard time trying to render a hollowed out area, like the inside of an empty egg, do you have any tips..."etc
I'm not actually taking his class per se (you can click on other students and watch their videos and with a little work around access other class q&a. I'm taking anatomy and perspective.

Day 2. Trying some shading and hatching
Anyone have any good places to start with digital art? I want to get good with that as much as physical. A friend gave me his old intuos.
>>3115048
Here's the source. I couldn't quite get the exact angle of viewing
>>3115048
Should try not rushing so much and take your time like bargue plates. Just start drawing on digital like you do on physical paper.
>>3115066
Not him but yo hold the fuck up. Someone told me Bargue plates are a meme for beginners.
>>3115069
That makes no sense when Bargue plates are for beginners, once you get better you move on to casts and still life. I don't know what that person told you, but you can fact check it anyways by searching it up.
>>3115024
thank you for the interest, but I usually just delete my pictures when I'm done... never satisfied
I have some on my drive doe
>>3115072
I guess it makes sense since plates are easier than still life? Damn, I got memed.
>>3115073

>>3114709
gesture first, don't add tits and don't add anatomical information you don't know about, stop the spiderman highlight hatching but definately do wrapping line and gesture, did I say that already?
>>3115149
Stop chickenscratching. The white lines look tedious and a waste of time on some, I would choose to block them in instead to cover more ground more quickly. I wouldn't recommend using cylinders to simplify limbs, but instead shapes with more edges like boxes or more complex ones.
I drew again for the first time in two years, after trying way too hard without actually improving for shit. Got into an autistic ragefit and tried to copy a skull stock image.
I'm... oddly happy with this. Literally all I can do is stick figure shit and I don't know what fucking possessed me. Which makes me doubly pissed off because I can't replicate this.
1 min, 2 min, 30 min and 1 hour figure drawings.
Would really appreciate a critique.
>>3115181
would you walk me through the lines you made next to the bottom one? I know they're supposed to mark proportions but I don't understand it
>>3115183
Different anon but it looks like they divided it in half to find the ass and then in half again for the knee. Not sure what the bottom mark is, but it's one head.
can i practice with stabilizer or i'll have bad habits later or something?
>>3115183
I used them only at early sketch phase, so later I went slightly off.
I started with the torso and only slightly indicated legs, so later to find their length I replicated distance from head to crotch downwards and then divided it in half to find the knees.
It's in Loomis's figure drawing book.
4 years of drawing, am I lagging behind?

Stop using low quality ref. It's easy to find interesting high quality portraits to practice on.
You can also look for boards from other pinterest user.

I bought pic related some time ago and have been using this as my first sketchbook. I've heard that you should be shading using the side of a pencil, but when I do that on this paper, it's like the shading is 50% graphite and 50% white holes. The kind of artwork that I find online that I admire, appears a lot smoother with its shading, i.e. no white holes. I don't know whether I should be using different paper, using the point of the pencil for shading, or whether I'm supposed to just deal with the white tooth holes. Any suggestions?

The drawn pot is shorter than the real one. And the pan it's on looks like it's deformed. Your lines need more finess, but that'll develop with time anyway.
The leaves are good. Good job on that.
You just gotta work out your proportions, and observe better.
Keep at it. You're just like me when I started.
>>3115524
Thanks man.
>>3115490
That sketching paper has tooth to it, so you get holes.
anyone got resources or some keywords to look for in getting started with coloring your work?
Most color resources i've read mostly talk about how colors work with each other but I'm mainly trying to figure out how to pick the right value or hue that works with the other colors in the drawing instead of just picking random values and it looking like a mess.
>>3115538
Just start using colors
>>3115511
you fucked up more or less everything. Even the perspective.
>>3115490
>falling for the art supply meme
You idiot. Those books are like 10 cents a page. You might as well practice on printing paper because you'll certainly go through a lot of that. I'd just put that off to the side until you're an actual artist.
I feel like I am still symbol drawing, damn.
>>3115199
you moved onto values too soon. It just looks like a symbol-drawn person in 3 dimensions. Quite unsettling.
>>3115561
It's never too early to move onto values. However, having an accurate drawing before doing them is better since you have less to fix later on.
>>3115113
Its just another outsider art piece for the Podesta Collection anon.
>>3115564
personally I'm not even shading until I get anatomy and perspective down. Someone here told me to do that and I haven't looked back. I think its kind of a question of "is this worth shading, lining or coloring?". Obviously that picture is proof positive it can cover up a lot of sins and become a crutch.
>>3115559
THIS IS MY UNIFORM
>>3115559
You're doing ok

>>3115569
how can i NOT symbol draw? I need help.
>>3115602
By actually drawing what's there in front of you. Keys to Drawing and even Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain talk about this. It's more experience than anything and requires you to be patient in measuring. It's not easy at first, but as you do it more, eventually it's almost natural.
Started drawing a couple of months ago, this any good, lads?
>>3115615
no, the faces are flat/don't show any evidence of any attempt to make them look 3D. The top two are the worst offenders and you kind of hid this by making the bottom two have a lot of hair. You need to start from the beginning.
K :(
>>3115615

>>3115559
his face is a bit lopsided. Erase the face and redraw it in the right spot. i could also say that about everything else but finishing work is important too.
got my pencil sharpener, now its better to render. angles and proportions are off but im still new to using a pencil like a measuring tool. Even messups are important to git gud. will provide reference after i finish but i draw slower than what i would like.

>>3115769
I've posted yesterday and the day before. I'm trying to reference some sketchfab models. I've drawn like 300 of these but maybe only 20 of them are from reference so I'll keep going.
Still feels bad man
>>3115674
You probably didn't observe enough, so you now have a whole lot of new information about how human body actually works, which you aren't used to.

Hey all, this is a study piece I've been slowly working on (apologies it hasn't been completed), I only get a few hours a month to work on it, have never posted anything like this before, feedback and criticism very welcome :)
>>3115797
well for starters the proportions are off. You gave her such a massive head that it is literally coming off the canvas. you also need to soften up the rendering all around especially the front breast, shoulder and thigh. It looks like hard shading when its not supposed to. I guess it to late now to fix the wonky proportions. Why bother making a lifesize painting if its just practice and you can only work on it a little a month?
>>3115773
That sound sounds reasonable. Thanks!
>>3115805
Thanks :) its only my third painting at the moment, i did feel as though the proportions were off, especially around the shoulders and legs, i was hoping the closer up feel would add to the "entrapment" feeling of the piece but perhaps next time ill go for a more open feeling. As for making a life-size painting thats honestly just down to personal preference, ive never enjoyed being bound to a small page size :)
only painting ive ever finished, let me know what you think (y)
what's your study plan?
How do you even survive with just traditional art and no digital
>>3115797
why did you make her a negroid?
>>3115371
Thanks for the compliments man, but I agree with what the other people that answered you. I'm just a beginner which is why I came here to post. I mainly learned drawing by just doodling, and there's tons of stuff I suck at/dont know how to draw. (for example, I suck at drawing fotorealistic faces, and have a shitton of trouble with hands. The cloth folds on the french lady looks like shit imo, and I still don't understand how to make shading look right->see pic related) There's tons of stuff I've never heard of that I found just by reading this thread like this "loomi's" thing, and symbol drawing, so I think I'll stick around here a while longer.
Also, I don't think having a style excuses someone from having to draw anything else, while I'm okay with cartoony stuff, I suck at realism, which is not acceptable if I wanted to call myself an "artist".
>tldr I still gotta git gud man
How does /ic/ sell their artwork online and which sites are recommended? Any related advice would be appreciated.
>use Loomis method
>still comes out wrongly proportioned

Random muscle/bone pics from google.
I don't know better.
>>3114849
Is this a little bit better?
>>3115981
It won't be better until you try making it better. The lines in that thing diverge towards the horizon.
>>3115968
Why is one side of the pelvis higher than the other? It's bone, it does not change shape.
>>3116041
Not even in perspective?
>>3116043
That's not how it looks in perspective and that's how it is in the picture.
>>3116043
Sure, but the image that was drawn over has little to no perspective applied to the pelvis, it is pretty much head on.
gesture drawings
>>3116062
more gesture drawings
they are all from michael hamptons figure drawing book i think its calle design and invention
2nd time painting, i need hard critique. I barely made the deadline for this painting so its all messy
>>3116065
How do I get as good as you?
>>3116065
Is it supposed to be photorealistic or stylised?
Its kinda hard to look at, I can make out details like leaves, the side of a vase, the shoe, and that pumpkin looking fruit in the front there, but other than that, it's hard to grasp what the big picture is.
Try going over the most important parts of what matters in an artwork:
Line. (decent, but alot of things seem muddled, especially at the top)
Color. (The colors are nice, and while they lack stark comparisons it doesnt really take away from the piece, apart from that, combined with the messiness, its hard to see whats what)
Shape. (Like I said above, you got alot of nice, easily readable shapes in there, but you have just as many confusing parts as well)
Form, Value, Space (this one sticks out to me the most, the picture lacks a coherent perspective) and finally, Texture.
Looks cool tho, keep painting, cause it looks 'breddy sick man.

my first, the background was supposed to be a microwave but i never knew how to paint. Only thing that came close to painting was watercoloring also critique this one too
>>3116272
the coomposition and persepctive are a bit unreadable.
everything else is very good, especially for second time. i think you have talent
>>3116272
The face is wrong proportionally, especially around the lips and chin.
The forehead probably could do without that strange bulge/wave in it.
The fingers look pretty weird too, especially the ring finger, it looks like it just kinda bends in at the end, which it shouldnt do.
The lighting seems pretty good, though. Work on your proportions, maybe just do some basic sketches of faces/hands with pencil, just to get the feel for the shape.
