/tg/ also has good drawthreads for stuff that's less fan-arty, and the art usually means a lot to them because the characters are their own rather than just some vidya / anime character they like.

well generally you're hurting freelancers when you do the work for free. like if you think of actors in hollywood, tons of people would act in a movie for free, so SAG makes it so you can never ever work for free and thus actors get paid enough to make a living.

obviously it doesn't really matter in threads like this but it's a sort of general 'good guy' rule. because the more free art, the less people will pay for art. and devaluing the field as a whole is bad for everyone.

It depends how you work. Drawing feet first is nice, because you can orient your figure in perspective correctly in reference to ground plane and then work from that.
However, you don't have really problems with perspective. Maybe try overlaying it with copying sheet first (I don't know how it is called in english), drawing box in which you will entrap your character and then orienting yourself with reference to it. Best if box will be divisable to head proportions, so you'd have little grid. You know, like in krenz tutorials.

Generally be careful as you work up-down and vice versa. It's common to elongate or shorten due to accumulation of small drawing errors over time. Either be more patient with measurements, or try working differently. Remember that most important in figures for expression are eyes, hands and feet.

unironically loomis. he'll teach you the foundation of proportiona and anatomy. aftet you're decent at that you can play around with the proportions to give your charactets a more cartoony look - but even those type of characters follow certain rules. you need to know them to efficiently break them.
