What's a good place to learn human anatomy?

I don't really feel that just copying pose maniacs teaches much. I think each time you draw a human you should spend a couple of hours on it that way you learn every little thing you can.

I believe hundreds of references/life drawings are the best possible ways to do this.

same. trying to learn better muscle and joint anatomy but a lot of references seem to contradict each other

Well I mean there are tons of anatomy books out there.
Artistic Anatomy, Hampton and Bridgman are the ones I suggest you to look at, then continue doing your posemaniac exercises.

do you know of any pdf/online free versions of these books? i've looked at my local library and they don't carry copies and i'm flat broke

For loomis look at the sticky, for Hapton is pretty easy to google and for Bridgman try your luck in the artbook thread.
