Sweden, built a massive battleship that sunk on its maiden voyage, within view distance of the port. Hundreds of sailors died, dozens of cannons were lost and of course the entire ship sank to the bottom of the ocean. Failure of the millennia.

Although the ship was recovered and is now a museum, so something good came out of it.
