You are mistaking words for intentions. If Britain and France wanted to aid Germany, they would have done so regardless. They would have extended them the same leniency that they instead gave to the Soviets. Ask anyone at the highest levels of politics: there are no reactions, only justifications. At most, the actions of another give you a reason to do what you always wanted to do anyhow. It's kind of like being drunk at a party and telling your boss to go f himself.
