Although he would have felt sympathy for the party lines of the NSDAP, members of the German armed forces before and during the Second World War were not permitted any political suffrage and were forbidden from joining a political party, and therefore technically could not be considered a Nazi.
If you want to go by the allied definition, the one used for sentencing at the Nuremberg Trials. A Nazi was any enrolled member of the NSDAP. almost all other government workers such as mailmen, service workers, soldiers, etc weren't admissible for punishment during the trials. Only mid to high level government figures and those who played a leading role in the German war effort such as generals and marshals were up for charges.
Whether you want to call the soldiers who fought for the German causes nazis or not is up to you I guess, but they definitely weren't part of the NSDAP, or the more sinister special operations groups such as the Waffen SS or the Einsatzgruppen.
>>533728 >Indoctrinated Why do liberals use this word for anyone that holds political beliefs they don't like?
Nazis were not "indoctrinated." They were human beings with free will who made their own political decisions.
I'm not even going to get into whether or not the Holocaust happens as we are told it is, whether the Germans deserved what happened to them, etc. For better or for worse, stop treating Nazis like they were brainwashed zombies. They knew what they were doing.
>>533794 Stalin had 30,000 tanks hidden behind the Urals. Yeah, he was just using those to get rid of those nasty Siberian pony infestations...
It's irrelevant if Hitler invaded the Soviets first. Preemptive strike, nigger, ever heard of it? Hitler knew the only way he would be able to stand a chance against the massive industry and manpower of the USSR was if he struck first while they were unprepared and hadn't had time to mobilize properly.
>le anything that doesn't agree with what my liberal arts professor told me is revisionism! I highly recommend you actually learn German/Russian and read some of the documents concerning the Molotov Pact, on both sides. It was very clear to each party that war between them was coming. They were both just trying to buy time.
>>533796 BS. people are a direct reflection of the environment they are brought up in. people only have are not born with "free will", we learn what we are taught. try telling someone who is brought up in an islamic household that they had free will.
Or maybe it's commonly believed that Operation Barbarossa was a war of aggression because Hitler had just fought a massive war of aggression in the West after signing a treaty agreeing not to.
>MUH STALIN WAS PREPARING FOR WAR MEME
Which is why Stalin let the Germans mass 3 million troops on the borders of the USSR, why the first German reconnaissance units drove east past trains full of raw materials headed for Germany, and why Stalin spent the first two days of the war convinced that this was the work of a rogue German general and ordering his troops not to fight back.
Read some primary sources, you cum gargling, pillow biting cake boy.
>>533816 >Massive fucking country 40 times your size with 5 times the manpower is building up enough tanks and aircraft to outnumber yours 5 to 1 >has a history of aggressive expansion in the past >realize you're going to get absolutely curbstomped if you allow them time to fully prepare >instead, strike while they're in the middle of all of this and confused about it, negating the possibility for an organized counter attack Don't you have a Black Lives Matter meeting to attend, cuck-for-brains?
>>533788 regardless of weather they are educated in politics, they are still a creation of a nation that is under that political philosophy. most people under the nazi rule pushed for hitlers view point.
>>533861 You realize you're doing the same thing, right? >>533855 >weather Everything about this post is pants on head retarded. >a leader being in power means his political ideology is loved by literally everyone Holy shit you're fucking stupid. The average German had never fucking met Hitler, never read his book, and could fucking care less if it was him or the incompetent parliament in power. They, like everyone in history, just wanted to be left alone. Which is hard to do when you've been drafted and told you're fighting for your Fatherland.
You see, non-cucks have this thing called patriotism, and telling someone that the lives of their loved ones and their country depends on you has a way of motivating them, regardless of the politics involved.
>>533901 Stalin was in the process of preparing, dolt. You think he kicked up his factories and cranked out the amount of equipment he had in the space of a few years, in occupied Russia?
Yeah, I'll give the Russians credit for them still running factories while the front lines were a mile away and shit. But at the start of the war Stalin had, literally, 30,000 tanks tucked away behind the Urals. He had an incalculable number of IL-2s and other aircraft. The reason a lot of this gear wasn't available at the start of Barbarossa was because it was so far away, hidden (or so he thought) behind Germany's eyes.
He knew damn well there was going to be a massive war. I'm not arguing that he was surprised, again, he surely was. I'm pretty sure no one expected Hitler to be stupid enough to launch a war on another front when he hadn't even secured the two he was fighting on already. But the fact of the matter was that Stalin was preparing for full out war with Germany and the rest of Eastern Europe.
Hitler went with a ballsy move to try and stop him when he could. I'm assuming his reasoning was like this >I can attack now and catch Stalin off guard. Sure, I'm fighting a shaky two front war already, but my manpower reserves are more or less stable and if I knock the Russians out of the game now I can focus on the West and Africa without worrying about a threat to the East that will hit me when our manpower and industry is depleted from fighting Britain and the US
>>533875 >The average German had never fucking met Hitler, never read his book, and could fucking care less if it was him or the incompetent parliament in power
they cared a lot about who was in power. The economy in germany was fucked. The whole reason hitler got into power was due to the influence he had on the Masses. a leader being in power doesn't mean everyone loves him, do you even know politics? there have been countless hated dictators and democratic leaders. You can't call anyone retarded.
>>533694 Some were, some weren't. Depended on the person and their personal beliefs. Of course there were followers of the ideology in the ranks but there were also regular guys who were conscripted and just tried to survive. >>533707 >Luftwaffe Literally led by Goering. Also had hardcore Nazis in its ranks like Hans-Ulrich Rudel. Kriegsmarine was probably the least nazified branch.
>>533921 >You think he kicked up his factories and cranked out the amount of equipment he had in the space of a few years, in occupied Russia?
No, he moved his factories behind the Urals. Lend-lease helped a lot.
Virtually none of it survived the war. The opening stages of Barbarossa were a ridiculously one-sided raping, and most of the Red Army's equipment was obsolete by the outset of the war.
In 1941, the Russians were in no shape to fight a war, especially given that Stalin had killed most of the general staff.
>if I knock the Russians out of the war
I think this has to be one of the most irresponsible strategic decisions in recorded history.
>sure, we have no way of pushing past Moscow with our shit-tier logistics, sure the Americans have the greatest industrial base on the planet, and sure the enemy outnumbers us by a ridiculous margin >we don't we bring them into the war anyway
>>533954 Where he took after Otto von Bismarck, turned the statesmanship and manipulation up to 11, and eventually went down in history as the guy who crushed communism, and turned Germany into the second greatest world power
>>533841 >Those brave whermacht troops dindu nuffin. They was just fighting an illegal war of continental annexation, with the express goal of liquidating the overwhelming majority of Slavs in the USSR and enslaving the rest of them is all.
You're retarded. Leave this board and never return.
>>533694 If they believed in Nazi ideology and/or were a member of the Nazi party, then yes, they would be considered a Nazi. If not, then they were just another soldier in the Wehrmacht that fought for Nazi interests whether or not they believed in them.
