So what's the difference between psychopathy and sociopathy? Is there a difference? Is it possible to 'teach' empathy to a psychopath/sociopath?

Interesting thing about those two, they simply don't have the capacity to feel those sentiments.

They can be "taught" in the sense where they will display the behavior, but it would only be a superficial reaction, the apperance of a response is there, but no eternal sensation. Though, sociopaths can form some form of emotional attachment, unlike psychopaths.

Big differences between the two, sociopaths do feel emotions, albeit negative ones mostly, while psychopaths feel nothing whatsoever.

Also, a little fun fact is that it is easier to spot a sociopath versus a psychopath because the former tend to be more volatile.

Are sociopaths more volatile because they can feel negative emotions or is it independent?

You'd be right about it being because they can only feel negative emotions strongly.

Another thing I forgot to mention, psychopathy is considered genetic mostly, whereas sociopathy is commonly cause by environmental factors.

Sociopathy - the inability to comprehend other people's emotions; lack of empathy and compassion

psychopathy - you know exactly what you're doing, you manipulative fuck

Mental disorders are labels to describe a set of symptoms that correlate with the DSM book. People tend to lose their critical thinking skills when it comes to this shit. They aren't objective hard truths. In some cultures what might be seen as a mental illness, can be a totally different thing. It's a huge social construct from a medical field that hasn't even been around for 200 years. It's scary how little we know about the brain, yet we have doctors pushing pills in a medieval fashion.

psychology isn't a science
i thought this wasn't an argument?

Psychopaths have no emotions, sociopaths have disturbed emotions.

Autistics have empathy and compassion, you dumbfuck. They just don't always express it in ways you might recognize.
>>

>autism
Actual autists can have a lot of empathy, but it's misplaced often and not expressed very well.

Psychopaths are kind of the opposite. They know very well where empathy should be placed and how to display it in order to fit in, but they don't feel it in a way that has any hold on them.

There isn't a clear line. Many professionals don't distinguish.

More important is the distinction between primary psychopathy and secondary psychopathy.

There are also different conceptions of psycopathy. You can consider it as a category or, instead, a set of traits that can be more or less present in every human being, with some humans being outliers (these guys get over-represented).

It is impossible for a human to lack emotions without missing their cerebrum.

Do explain pls
