I have a folder with over 1.5k unsorted galleries (afaik each and every single one is from a different artist, all are either zip or rar files, some are HCG galleries). On external HDD I have my main archive, where galleries are sorted into folders named like this "group (artists)".

My question: which of managers from spreadsheet will properly sort those unsorted galleries into appropriate folders in my archive? Will it create catalogues for new artists? Normally I'd sort it manually, but I can't be arsed this time.

Because you have the default program to open images set to "Paint". You have to set it to a different application. HappyPanda is better though.

Which is better/easier to manage with panda viewer, 1500+ zips or 1500+ folders with loose files?

Can someone help me understand hydrus? I hope I'm wrong but does it make a copy of whatever you import? So if your collection is 2tb, you need 2tb free space on whatever drive you installed hydrus on?

is it tho? if you think about about other "management" software they do exactly the same thing: databases and document management systems let you import local files (csv,xml,doc,pdf ...) so you can delete them afterwards and access your data in a centralized way. plus you get things like indexing, versioning and full-text search. i don't think it's dumb.

Another is that it requires a lot of 'trust' to be placed on the software, that it'll keep working to manage your stuff. If it fails your files are now all over the place and good luck organizing your shit again.

For example now, hydrus refuses to start up and is stuck at loading gui for an hour now, if I had moved my entire collection into hydrus I would be royally fucked now.

For me personally, I find Hydrus best for loose images, and the other two are best for manga. Hydrus has a bit of a learning curve, but it really is incredibly powerful. After using it for a while you'll realize just how archaic and backwards trying to organize large collections into folders is.

See, instead of trying to find the images in the folders, you'd want to retrieve them from within hydrus. Find them using the tags you previously assigned them, then export them into a new folder, giving them filenames based on the tags. If order is important, give them a page number tag. It's a small hassle, which is why I prefer other managers for comics in particular.

that makes sense: once you import stuff in a software you shouldn't be able to access it "the old way" (via folders) or you're most probably going to mess with it. it's like importing a bunch of csv files in a database table: once you delete your local files you're not going to be able to access your data in a folder structure, you have to use the database via it's api/gui/whatever.

if you think about it it's no different than trusting a filesystem. you store a bunch of "files" that are in fact chunks of 0s and 1s spread all over your disk platters. if a filesystem fails good luck with that too.

Possibly. If you sync to the public tag repo, then if someone else has tagged an image, you'll get those tags, too. You can also get tag databases from gelbooru and the like.

If you download images through hydrus's downloader, you can pull tags from the site you're downloading from, as well.

So it's not perfect, but there's a good chance some of your images have tags already, especially if they came directly from popular boorus without modification (i.e. the same hash)

I just downloaded the Danbooru Downloader, and it works pretty well so far. I have one complaint though: when using the Batch Downloader, I can't seem to get jobs to grab from more than one page at a time; or rather, I can't do it consistently.

I managed to get the first 11 or so pages of a query to download at a Limit of 100, but beyond that the Limit has to get smaller and smaller, which defeats the point. Does anyone know a workaround? Google has given me nothing so far.

Could be any number of things, but the tool still works.
Failing to grab HTML means that accessing the URL returned some form of error, grabbing HTML relies on User_Agent and Cookie info.
The most common fix is to blank out the User_Agent string, or replace it with some other one.

I've been using imgbrd-grabber for some years now (since the earliest releases) and have liked it very much, but I've never seen anyone talk about it.

It's basically a booru downloader. It has all the popular boorus and you can add various types of boorus yourself, depending on what the booru is running on (e.g. Danbooru 2.0, Gelbooru 0.1, Shimmie, Booru on Rails).

I saw here a discussion about organizing of image collection.

I actually save a lot images mostly everyday and now have around 40к manually saved images in my collection. It was really a mess without tags and I decided to write nice storing application. I'm using it for last year and well, it's better than nothing.

Why can't I get on ex anymore? I was able to get on with no trouble before, but sadpanda'd for about a month now.

I just got the latest HappyPanda, and upon trying to run it I got this error. I already have some version of Python (3.4.3, it seems) installed in here, do I need to uninstall it for HappyPanda to work?

If exDownloader tries to download a gallery that doesn't exist (e.g. removed), then it starts spamming exhentai like crazy. I got ban in like minute or so. Delay settings does nothing.

The copy/paste method I used was where I copied the cookie that was in e-hentai(I don't remember which), typed in exhentai.org.
When the screen came up with the sad panda, I would open the cookie editor I have and paste the ehentai cookie.
After I did that, I would reload the page and it allowed me access. For some reason it won't work now.

There is a new Panda Viewer version out, surprised no one has posted it yet.
