Gujira is a hentai artist that threatens to quit unless pirates stop.
"While content creators have varying reactions to piracy, generally they're not too thrilled about it as it cuts into their profits. Gujira, an erotic manga artist (Gal toka Bitch toka Iroiro), is having a particularly hard time coping with illegal downloads of his work."
"On Twitter on January 17, Gujira complained that he had received notice via mail that copies of his manga books had been illegally downloaded. At first he thought "I can't stop it, so I'll give up," but when the magnitude of the theft became clear — 25,000 copies — he grew desultory. "I completely lost my will to draw manga. I probably won't do it anymore." He thinks that while CG collections and dōjinshi are personal efforts, manga books are the result of team effort, and feels that pirating them is correspondingly worse. "Uploaders, apologize to everyone involved with this and compensate them fully, and if you're good-looking, we'll make you our ass slaves."
"In further tweets, Gujira worried about being dropped from the adult magazine Comic X-Eros, and mentioned that he had sent cease-and-desist requests, leaving him with nothing to do but "pray that they quietly take [the pirated books] down."
"Piracy is an ongoing problem in the entertainment industry, including manga and anime. A high-profile case involving One Piece manga led to three pirates getting arrested in Kyoto Prefecture in 2015. The Manga Anime Guardians project uses famous anime characters to support the fight against piracy."
Lol @ *high profile cases*
and he blames pirates? He dumber than the sluts he draws. He should go change profession for not learning common sense, hes a mangaka and for eros 2 ffs, he wants to actually live off money made from that?
Furthermore, even if this slant-eyed jew only makes 50% off of dlsite, he still makes more than the average income of Japan if he only shits out two of his doujins a year
He's complaining, though, because he hasn't actually made anything since 2014
He just wants income from doing fucking nothing
Fuck off, Gujira
Fuck you. He has his right to earn very single profit from his works. Also, your calculation is wrong. You will do the same hypocrite.
What's wrong with wanting more money? He deserves it and you got no right to complain. You're just jealous he can do something which makes him more money.
It's you who fuck off. Piracy is killing hentai. Translators are OK for most hentai authors but actual piracy of their stuff aka
uploading to g.e-hentai.org is just plain wrong. If people wants something, they should buy it, not hoping someone pirates it.
You're wrong. People will know him sooner or later. There are a lot of forgotten works that have been translated by translators years after they are published. I'm sure the same applies to importers.
I wont even bother giving the trolls arguing the time of day but to OP if you care so much about piracy WTF are you doing on 4 chan? the beginning of anon and DA hackers world wide. the pirate bay even started here. since then people used 4 chan during the TPB crisis to order new sites and data bases. introducing KAT and other many many great sites that do such things. if you dont like piracy GET THE FUCK OUT OF OUR HANG OUT.
sooo YEAH tits or gfo?
okay fine. since your clearly OP or troll ill reiterate in a more clear fashion...
4chan is a place of hackers, granted it maybe only 10 percent of us. but this is one of our spots. we are gods behind computers, we can break code, and rewrite at our desire. we live and breathe legality, we can do as we please on cyber space so long as we play smart. that guy thinks he lost 25000 copies. hes STUPID so IS op SO Is "OP didn't say anything about piracy one way or another, chucklenuts. He just posted the article." this ASSHAT dont waste space, that guy will never stop drawling. he is making bank on a side hobbie. it just bums him out how much he could have made. again he lost way more than 25000 copies. KAT alone has 500k dl;s pirate has 4-5 versions all with over 200k. dont repost this asshat's complaints he will keep drawling. Op idk what your stance is. but if you want to help him. become a coder and make security we cant break any more. posting his story here will do no goood.
I think he's talking mainly about Japanese pirates that pirates his work. Now, I do not think the number of pirated stuff = lost sales but I still think harm is still being done.
E-hentai has mostly Japanese users. 58% of users are from Japan. Its literally the biggest pirating site.
One of his work has 33k downloads from Japanese people. You can't possibly tell me that does nothing to him at all. The harm is bad enough to want him to quit.
There are so many factors that dissuade financial investment into this market.
Linking your identity is seen as a generally uncomfortable move for most potentials, avoid via piracy.
Physical copies are a complication. Logistics (shipping + import), legality (content) and privacy (customer info linked to site + actually owning the book).
Digital copies are *slightly* less inconvenient in this regard but still link identity and financial info.
Plus, it's really fast and painless to retrieve a gallery or torrent for something you want, almost always DRM free.
There are so many pros and cons to both, but piracy suffers from a tiny fraction of cons.
It's a shame that authors don't look past the legality, it's pretty narrow sighted of them.
Yes, people should pay to play. But, it's far more ridiculous to hinge your career investment on the decision of a faceless mass of pirates.
And what a nasty word to use. They're fans, they enjoy and consume your work eagerly, way to tell them to fuck off.
Sounds like he just wants to take his ball and go home. Immature for a guy who draws /h/.
Queen bee? You mean this <<<
You're stupid. Piracy will exist, but why foreign piracy of content you cannot even understand exist, i don't understand. Only a greedy person looking for fame will do it. Japan already killed piracy long ago. It usually chinks or ESLs that pirate.
Do you have a job?
i still lol? did i claim piracy will end? no i just said if you want to help this one man. make a code not worth breaking. then maybe well back off. piracy will never end because people like me exist. im just trying to point out bitching about this man/s greed is pointless especially on here. where AT least one of his "pirate" culprits must lurk. MEEEEEEEEE
i love his work. i love that sexy lil succubi. and if i didnt think id end up in jail faster for ordering that to the United states than using a vpn and proxy jumper to get my own version, than i prob would buy it. but that is not the case. sorrry to inform you. but its just not.
>make a code not worth breaking
>stronger DRM prevents piracy.
3DM hinted at this, but it's otherwise mostly untrue. People will simply stop consuming that content and look elsewhere. Then, when the DRM falls through they'll eat it up. Stronger DRM will NEVER end well for legit consumers, Origin and GFWL are dreaded for a reason.
For proof, that Kasumi Rebirth game. For so long people were stuck behind DRM and the only publicly available cracked version was old. Then the DRM was defeated and it was shared. It didn't lead to a rise in sales, the product was still as (un)popular as ever. It only re-entered the limelight *because* it was cracked.
And what have you ever done for breaking DRM? You seem to think that you've played a pivotal role in sidestepping encryption, got any examples of your alleged skill or are you happy to keep talking nonsense?
>An incubus is a demon in male form who, according to mythological and legendary traditions, lies upon women in order to engage in sexual activity with them. Its female counterpart is a succubus.
lol this is the internet, im just a mere anon who no long has to hide. and what type of idiot asks for proof in full open lobby. clearly your fucking retarted. if you have any skills that make mine worth proving to your dumbass. i have a deep web port connect 7 proxy's in from where i am right now. if you can find my GLtext port once you get there. ill speak with you, the program is running and waiting for a guest. ill show you the fucking world if your ready? on a side note. i may have confused this work with another.>>4169816 are you saying that char in this is male? at first glance of the picture i thought this was a different one. yikes.
Don't knock it until you try it. One can't gain an appreciation for it until you actually try it. Buy a 1 month subscription to your favorite porn site and I 100% guarantee you it will change your mind on the subject.
BAKA i did mess up i got stuck in the words and trolls i did not take a good look. i was looking/ talking about the hentai with a small black hair female succubus. by far one of my favs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sadly my break is going to end soon. and i need more coffee before i go back in, it was very fun you trolls of trolls. to the ass hat talking shit it would have taken me about 30 seconds to find your ip back track 7 proxy's and double click an icon. you are far to slow to be worth shit to this world. please toss that toaster oven your running our the window please!!!!!
Does this faglord not understand that without internet exposure, he would be even less of a nobody than he is now?
Better quit if he can't handle the world he lives in. Heck, he's a "doujin artist" already, quitting may just as well bring back some semblance of human worth to the homo.
"Theft"? Really. 25k views more like.
I'm still sayin' fuck him. You can't be that sensitive if you want to publish anything. The next thing you know doujin artists will have agents, license holders, publication staff, editors, lawyers, advisors, consultants, and... everything else that keeps an artist doing his own thing, as in doujins.
But sure, if they want that, they can do that. I am capable of guaranteeing that no-one will be left without masturbation material even if the entire scene shuts down out of piracy fears.
> it's far more ridiculous to hinge your career investment on the decision of a faceless mass of pirates
This is the most reasonable post I've seen on /h/ in a long while. I applaud you anon!
Patreon can be a good thing if done right. People who want to support can give in their money and receive some goodies on the side, while the rest can just freeload and get the bulk of the content for free.
There's some guy who's been making some very extreme 3/d/ animations, and his Patreon page is clocking at around 8k a month. His work is released for free, but patrons get full resolution video (as opposed to just 720p), more previews, and they can help decide the content of his future work.
The only things that ero mangaka should be complaining about are the money being left on the table by not translating and uncensoring their works. A Kisaragi Gunma or Distance can get bank outside of Japan by offering translated, uncensored works.
Funny that I never see Nips commenting anything, even though there's so many of them. If there's comments in other languages besides English, it's mostly Chinese, Korean or Spanish.
Maybe they should add some kind of policy to not post raws of anything until it's been one month after its release so that at least some of these lurkers would buy it.
Things are pretty binary in your mind, huh. This discussion is wasted on you if you've already reached a conclusion. If you're simply looking to disagree with people then feel free.
So why have I made this enormous assumption that pirates are still a valuable asset to content creators?
Same reason adblock users are useful on websites, they're fans. Fans circulate content, they're advertisements in their own right. Sure, sharing for free is less than ideal, but getting your name out there, across the world even is a massive benefit.
Of course, legitimate consumers can do all this and more, but as multiple anons have confirmed before me, this guy was off our radars before this thread which discusses piracy. On /h/, which is fuelled by sharing.
In the adblock analogy, sharing content can lead to ad revenue through referred users. In the same way, shared content can actually lead to sales.
It's an unlikely outcome given the nature of piracy, and if you read back you'll find why piracy is just so much more convenient, but it is absolutely a waste of time and effort for an author to actively feel remorse against piracy when there's nothing to be done about it.
It has been proven time and again, using Kasumi Rebirth as an example duebto its so called popularity, that DRM does not result in sales. It harms your legitimate consumers and eliminates pirates. But those pirates were never planning on buying the game in the first place, and don't have a sudden change of heart bring denied the content.
To say that pirates are awful is a mentality that revolves around the fallacy that pirates harm the industry. Unless they're going around preventing legitimate sales this is simply a flawed perspective.
You guys do know this can end up with other artists taking their hit and leaving too?
You want your wank material, so it's better not to bully the guy who happily provides it.
Then again, we're in 4chan, there no moral compass to find here.
Boo hoo, artist quits because artist doesn't get money.
How about get a real fucking job, mister artist?
C'mon. They produce works for entirely different reasons, and this entire thread leads from the fact that Gujira is having a tantrum over his own personal failures in business.
do they really think people who pirate would otherwise give a fuck and buy it if they didn't have a free alternative
i honest as fuck would be a productive member of society ignorant of this entire field of work if it wasn't free
k go buy his work and frame it on ur wall to support him fag, he went into the industry knowing fully well that he wont be able to live off drawing ahoges , ur the fucking hypocrite who thinks drawing lines and compiling them into one or two piles will support the rest of ur life financially
You know I find this very funny.
>I pirate because I don't have the money to buy it
>Ah, I see. Totally understandable
>I'm the creator and although I know piracy can't be stopped. It still is awful to me. I >think I will quit eventually.
>Oh, suck it up you faggot.
>I wouldn't know him if it wasn't for piracy
We're completely irrelevant to him. He's in one of the biggest magazines in Japan, so he doesn't need piracy for publicity. Unless you import or Fakku decides to publish his book, this has nothing to do with you.
"In cooperation with 15 major anime production companies and manga publishers, the Japanese government will next month start a huge extermination operation against 580 foreign sites which have illegally uploaded anime and manga contents on the web without the copyright holders' permission, NHK reported on July 28. While the government has started supporting the genre as one of their important cultural exports, there appears to be no end of illegal uploading of anime and manga via pirate sites, mainly operated by Chinese. The Cultural Affairs Agency estimates the loss caused by the Chinese pirate sites last year was amounted to at least 560 billion yen (about US$ 5.5 billion).
On August 1, the government will start simultaneously sending requests to delete illegal anime and manga contents to the operators of the 580 foreign pirate sites which they have found. In addition, the operation will launch a new site to guide the fans to a legitimate site offering some 250 titles including
the latest ones at a cost of several hundred yen."
Ok, you're missing the point. Sure, I can also add in what you just said but the point is pirates and the creators have their own reasons for doing what they're doing. Pirates have reasons to pirate but creators also have reasons to be mad and be unmotivated seeing their work distributed without permission and for free. Just because piracy cannot be stopped doesn't mean you shouldn't be mad as a creator. I don't see why you guys are insulting him for being mad when he has a reason to be mad just how you guys have a reason to pirate.
Of course it may not have much of an effect since stopping piracy from foreign countries isn't as easy of a thing to do but the numbers of money being lost is still there and the fact that 15 major anime companies/manga publishers are contributing in helping means they hate piracy and here you have pirates justifying piracy when the creators themselves hate it soo much. Is piracy going to get all those lost money back? Ha, I doubt it.
These are the people who know the effects of piracy because it's being done to their work. They're the one who knows how it feels to have their work pirated. You guys don't.
Why do you think hes talking directly to foreign pirates? Japanese pirates are a lot larger. On e hentai, 58% of visitors are from Japan. His work has 33k downloads from Japan and 6000 from westerners. Now, tell me what hes mostly talking about.
>drawing in 2016
>expecting people to not pirate things in 2016
>expecting to make money off this shit in 2016
His new book came out, just last month. Probably didn't hit well, he looked at Nyaa and saw his work with 60,000 downloads.
Raged, posted this.
>If I don't know him no one else does
Why would he even care if some foreigners know him if they are not gonna pay shit for his stuff? Do you think people live just of admiration or fame?
Fuck him, he isnt a special snowflake, he isnt one of the major popular artists, he is nobody and no one cares what he thinks.
I would tell him to fuck off if he wants to quit, someone will take his place and probably do a better job.
Here's some food for thought. If your effort - art or not - can be pirated, then you are going for the low hanging fruit. To put it another way: your work is on the lower levels of the social hierarchy. What you earn is not based on how hard you work, but the irreplaceability of your work. Artists complaining about piracy get zero of my sympathy.
Man, fuck this. I come to /h/ to have a good time and suddenly I read that my absolute fav artist may quit. COME ON. If Fue leaves too then I have no business with 2D anymore. FUCK.
Piracy won't stop so I better get prepared to find some other guy that does some stuff like him.
This pretty much we are never going to be the main target for sales it's always going to be there own local sales to begin with. They hate and complain about non Japanese people pirating there garbage but most of the pirate are their own.
They should get over it and deal with their own problem not us.
My only thought on this subject is
I'll pay for a product if I get what I expect from that product.
But the one thing I will not pay for is Censership.
When Artists stand-up to their publishers and demand the right to distribute their works without edits or mosaics hiding their work, they they've earned the right to demand payment for their product.
Would you pay for a pizza if, when it's delivered to you, it comes without Cheese?
Why should I pay for a product when I only get a part of what I ordered?
I some cases I don't mind the censor, to be honest.
Take a look at Seishin Izayoi, in France lots of his books are published by local publishers who make a point to have no censor, but his works end up censored because the original files are lost.
Same deal with Konomi Shikishiro whose censor is not an edit.
Maybe Gujira should then stop working for Wani who went into business with a piracy website that kept stealing from authors for months afterward.
Also fuck OP for linking ANN, a site as bad as FAKKU. They literally don't give a shit about hentai unless it's a clickbait article.
Cant say i blame the man. Yeah we need pirating as it helps in different ways. Though we had that one 3D artist that made the awesome orc rape one and pleaded to stop pirating on different boards also. Ever since then the artist never released anything.
I don't care what you think cause you're wrong. Fakku works with the artists and that is something I won't stop supporting
Does he honestly believe anyone gives a hit how he feels? he's a trap shota artist.
Does he honestly think that people that would fap to an incubus demon being turned into a cock hungry slut would have some sort of sense of morality?
These hentai artist are fucking hilarious, of course you're work is going to be pirated. The only people willing to indulge in it are socially scrupulous.
"I can't believe people that read trap-porn aren't highly honorable"
>Fucking slack jawed faggots complaining about piracy on 4chan of all place
>Obscure degenerate japanese picture etch & sketch artist bitching and moaning about his filth being pirated.
Call me when Jun, or hell anyone else starts making a concerted complaint.
Piracy is the only way western consumers, or at least I have got a hold of any of this.
If your career is dependent on the good will of the human species. Expect to be fucking unemployed in short order.
Wow great argument fagtron you sure convinced me with those hot opinions
>When Artists stand-up to their publishers and demand the right to distribute their works without edits or mosaics
That's like expecting 3D actors to stand up and demand the right to make videos with 10 year olds. They don't censor shit because they want to, it's the law. Your only choice is someone outside of Japan publishing their works for them.
>sooner or later
He is getting more publicity from pirating than he would have gotten if it didn't exist, and now it seems he is probably just using the situation to say he "might never draw again" so that way people feel bad and go buy his shit.
Tetsuya Tsutsui's case showed that some peoples in charge of censoring are fucking assholes.
In his case, he drew the manga Manhole (not a hentai) and it was blacklisted at one point in the district of Nagasaki, under the motive that it was toxic for young readers.
Not only was it put on blacklist, the assholes who decided on it didn't even tell him nor his editor.
He discovered it a few years after the facts and appealed it to no avail, the response being something like "we dindu nuffin, suck our dicks, choke on it"
He's currently scrambling a team of lawyers to get their asses.
Among many of the blacklisted artforms, he found a lot of Shunga (the ancestor of hentai) from the Edo era, the facts that some peoples are going so far as to censor pieces of history is quite shocking.
The piece of evidence is presented, it's only your choice to believe or not.
Lemme just say that no Jewish reptilians are involved.
>Not acknowledging the fact that art is the sole medium to not be manned by artificial intelligence during the next 20 years.
So FAKKU decided to jump on the occasion and license the book.
Say what you want, that was to be expected, though.
Not sure the japanese title makes any sense though.
How is everyone so salty over Fakku still?
They made a business out of your fapping, pay up or move on.
He's done what people where bitching about and got rid of the scanlations, it's all licenced content, no different from any western manga outlet.
No one is butthurt Jacob and Fakku are a shit, if you bring them up people are going to tell you they are a shit.
People have already moved on or simply do not care the only people butthurt are shills that keep trying to defend jacob despite knowing that everyone on this board is already aware of how much of a tool he is.
All I'm gonna say is that there's probably a reason why most "intelligent" artists don't post all their stuff at places where people can just easily right click and save, or simply take additional work that doesn't require risk of piracy.
Not pirating all the hard to get shit available on certain websites will just make you lose too much money.
I do understand both sides though.
