thoughts on this logo I'm working on. it's for a class. I'm not sure about the colors or fonts. I did not sketch this, does it show...
there isn't much I can immediately see - it has a strong central image and a very minimal and pleasing text title - its aligned well - maybe drop the bold text for BEACH or make all the text bold - i think the orange works best - a light modern palette would look nice - the border around the black and white logo looks forced - bleed the edges it looks nicer if you choose to go with that one. here's some colors i made
I think a bright blue background with a strong orange or red color for the character and the text background would work best - blue for the ocean - bright red or orange for the sun.
eh - i drew this little wave thing for the bottom - it doesnt really work imo - maybe you can find or draw something better?
this ones better - more surfboards - definitely needs a different color scheme
Too much. Adding background to text like this makes it more muddled. This is a really nice logo, it has this 90's windows clip art-vibe to it but goddamn does it work.
I would test this logo by scaling it down and seeing if the main features are still visible. The smallest details (f.x. the shape of the hands and the hair spike) will probably not be visible anymore, but that also means you could take them away without loosing anything important in the picture.
Overall, this is a really nice logo that hits this balance between being fun and not too serious, while still seeming professional.
would a offset grey work for the art under the company name?
I agree it is too muddled - like an embossed grey underneath the black letters ?
I'm definitely reaching and your write up of what works and why it works is great feed back - also not OP but i made the two you commented on.
OP here. Made some changes like you suggested.
