movement
2892-a2 vs 4r36
one of the best mass made movements on earth vs seikos lowest end machine made movement that is used in the invicta pro diver.

Case
42x13 vs 45x13
The Steinhart case clearly has a far better level of finishing. The initial machining is better as well. The SRP has been plagued by qc issues since it was initially put on the market and they have never been resolved.
bracelet

Bracelet
The seiko clasp is slightly better but the steinhart bracelet has closer tolerances and does not rattle as the seiko bracelet does. The seiko bracelet on these models is chintzy.

NO one is going to think a big blue steinhart is a rolex. The proportions colors and bracelets are all different. Your only argument lies in the fact that you personally dislike watches that look like other watches.

The large blue ones are traditional Chinese calligraphy. 15,30,45,60 are in normal script, so the same as Japanese for the most part. I don't know much about how Chinese is written, but I assume 45 is written that a way since three characters would throw off the balance. It says something like 'lunar calendar' next to the moonphase, and something like 'solar calendar' along the date track.

If you like divers, I'd look at the Orient Ray II, the Citizen NY0040, the Seiko SKX007/009, and the Invicta Pro Diver (seriously, even though Invicta is a meme this is a good watch for the price). Seiko has a ton of other diver offerings with better specs than the SKXes, but they ramp up in price pretty quickly.

Also, you're not really going to find a watch with a stock orange bezel like your Planet Ocean homage, but you can mod an SKX or Seiko 5 to look the part. You could probably also find Orient or Citizen modding communities too, but it'll be a lot tougher.
>>
>>62276966
>>62276955
Do any of these come in stock blue like the Sea master? I thought about buying another Alpha(they have a seamaster also) but wanted to move up in price a little bit. Although my Alpha I've had for like 7 years now and it's still going strong, should I avoid homages?

>>62276955
I think you did my man, I'm really not looking for the exact same style since I already have the alpha, more just giving an idea of what appealed to me last time I bought.
>>
>>62274605
fuck me that's beautiful mang
>>
>>62277007
The Orient Ray II has a really nice sunburst blue dial and blue bezel, and the SKX009 has a blue dial and the classic Pepsi bezel.

I'm sure you can find the Invicta in a whole range of blues, but most of them are pretty trashy looking imo.
>>
>>62276901
If you really like orange, check out the Seiko monster.
If you have large wrists, there is a black-dial orange-bezel Orient Mako XL, as well as one with the colours swapped. They also do a regularly sized mako and ray with a black bezel and orange face.
>>
Any strap/bracelet suggestions on my 6139? I 've been thinking of throwing it on a navy blue Perlon.

Also, does anyone happen to have the Orient titanium slide rule watch? I've been looking for that one for a while.

>shitty pic I just took
>>
>>62277077
I'd probably suggest a solid blue NATO or perlon, too. You could go with red to set off the chrono hand and bezel, but it would probably be too loud. I'd definitely stick to solid colored bands (no stripes or patterns), because chronograph faces are busy enough as it is.

>>
>>62277215
Panerais are garbage watches. The fakes are nearly indistinguishable from the real thing.
>>
>>62277138
I'd personally only wear an homage if it were as a stepping stone to the real deal. Even cheap Japanese watches who take a lot of design cues from the big boys can give their watches endearing qualities of their own.
>>

Seiko SARB line.
>>
>>62277500
Nice, the SARB035 looks like what I want, how hard/easy is it to mod the hand to that blue colour? The blue on white contrast is sexy.
>>
>>62277527
Hands are pretty easy, just gotta buy them online from a place like Otto Frei and have them installed by a watch repairer (probably gonna cost about 20 bucks for the hands, and maybe 40 bucks for the service).

If I recall correctly, the 035 has more of a cream colored dial than the super bright white of that Grand Seiko. You might be better off with another SARB model.

The SKX always has something misaligned (dial in this case), try exchanging it
>>
>>62284341
On second look it's really just the face.
God I love that watch it's stunning
>>
>>62283930
Chapter ring and the dial is definitely misaligned from each other. Not a disaster imo, but your local watchmaker might know a fix for it.
>>
>>62284388
what you just said right there is all that matters.
>>
>>62275592
I got the silver one myself a week ago. First time in my life i came to the conclusion that i need a watch. No need to take out the smartphone to check the time. The watch itself is cheap and well made.

Well I will probably go to a watch maker to have it looked up but I want to thank you guys nonetheless.
I started lurking about to month ago after I bought a mall watch and posted it here. You kinda opened my eyes and I'm grateful that you did.
I love the SKX. It's not the best watch but it fits my budget (university student) just perfect.

I already ordered the super oyster II with it, should arrive tomorrow. Because a lot of you said it looks stunning.
It's my first mechanical watch and hopefully not the last.
Love you all

I'm hoping my CousinsUK package arrives, I've been sitting on a customer's Sicura waiting for the part to arrive.

Pic of the Sicura, more like Shitcura. It uses a BFG 866 shitter movement.

More or less. Like Timex, they're a pretty consistent brand with good value-per-dollar.

I feel bad for you my lady. Russia life must be awful.
>>
>>62284812
I don't get the steinhart reference
also the ladies watch is for my girlfriend. She is finishing up medschool and needs a watch for the hospital she can wash in a sink or throw out.
>>
>>62284858
No reference. Just took a low light shit of a macro photo.
>>
>>62284342
You may want to check out Seiko as well, they have offerings from the bottom all the way to the top.
>>
>>62284883
how do you like it?
>>
>>62284903
Like it very much thank you. It's my 2nd so far and I'm thinking about buying a 3rd.
>>
>>62284946
that's a lot of steinshitters
>>
>>62284984
hey man to each their own. I personally think that would put you close to a nice used Rolex or omega but hey.
>>
>>62284984
Well I sold the first one long time ago (btw for the same price I bought it). Now I have the 500 and I'd also like to get the regular steel one (maybe used).
I use it every day anyway so doesn't matter if it's a little scratched.

>>62284999
You can't get nice used sub for 900€ anywhere. I'm also dealing with solvents and other stuff but I can bear the risk of spilling some of it on 500€ watch but no thanks on 5000€.
>>
>>62284999
>>62285049
if you say so, at least get the ceramic bezel
>>
>>62285049
You can find deals on those Domino's Pizza branded Rolexs, the newer ones are just branded on the bracelet.
>>
>>62285073
I have the ceramic on the 500.

I do sometimes look out for used Tudors (I like the look) but I want it with the in-house.
>>
>>62275592
buy it. The watch costs like 40 fucking dollars

Money changes you. When I was poor I didn't care at all about watches or cars. Then one day I realized I could afford a sports car, so I started researching sports cars.

Now here I am, whoreoligizing myself.

I-It was the Milgauss I ordered. I apologize for the confusion.

Its a Slava

CЛABA, C wraps around and Л is stilized.
>>
>>62285360
I'm not a huge fan of the design, be it real or fake, but I can certainly see the appeal. If you enjoy it, that's really all that matters.
>>
>>62285398
>If you enjoy it, that's really all that matters.
Guess you are right!
And I hope I will, I have been contemplating buying it for about 6 months and I still wanted it, so I'm hoping that's a sign that it isn't just a fleeting fascination.
Now for the dreaded waiting.

>>62285049
Thingen about getting their Ceramic GMT Master ripoff, have you ever tried that one? Want a beater GMT to finish off my shitter trilogy (SKX, Laco B-Uhr with the Citizen movement, and then the Steinhart).

The Milgauss is a steel stunner and the lightning bolt hand adds a bit of flavor.

Super cool anon.
>>
>>62285524
Nah I don't really have interest in the GMT.
>>
Quick question, sorry if it's something dumb.

I'm in a situation similar to >>62284179, I need a cheap watch to wear around on the lab, it's not convenient to check time on my phone when wearing a labcoat

All of those in the list are listed as "water resistant" so that means I can wash my hands and, if I accidentally put them under the faucet like a retard, they'll still work, right?
>>
>>62285573
Indeed, it was nosier than my Genova shitter hand wind from the 60's. At least I can only hear that one from a foot away if the face or back is facing me.
>>
>>62285644
Generally yes. Check out Seiko, Citizen, Casio, and Timex.
>>
I just ordered a hand wind watch. Did I mess up? How often do you have to rewind watches?

pretty new at this
>>
>>62285695
Depends on the watch, generally once a day unless you bought something expensive.
>>
>>62285306
Thanks man, likewise! I never though I'd love it as much as I do now that it finally arrived. I frequently wear dress shirts on the job and the watch fits perfectly.

>>62285536
I payed around $250 I think (bought in another currency).
>>
>>62285743
Same with mine, I wish I could photograph the texture better, it looks fantastic in person. I work in office IT and it matches my general attire as well.
