Most earbuds including Senns and Yuins are already approaching or over 100% THD under 100 Hz and would need heavy equalization to meet any reasonable target curve, so this isn't true. You have the right idea though, something inexpensive with extremely low distortion and high sensitivity could be used like you describe. I'm not sure that product actually exists though.

>>
>>62205569
But if I get a job how am I going to 24/7 listen to anime music on my Sennheiser HD600™ and Schiit Fulla 2™?
I could work from home I guess but last time I checked they don't allow home office in McDonalds.
>>
>>62204523
I'm not an expert but from what I understand most DACs will oversample to make the reconstruction filter simpler. So the modi might oversample 44.1khz to 176.4khz (4x) and 48khz to 192khz (4x)

Since the filters are running at 176.4khz and 192khz if your source is 176.4khz and 192khz it would be non-oversampling.
>>
>>62205485
But your cheapshit sennheisers are far less "worth it" and you can sell them to get memephones at no net cost to yourself. Either you should sell all the crap you're not using.

be warned that audeze has an inside-your-head style of signature. this means that female vocals are in your face and no little depth. most cans have this issue it's just more apparent on audeze. it does female vocals amazing it's just it sounds like women are singing 2 feet from your face

amd was a good buy, but no where near as good as crypto. Also you better be careful with that legacy market. It's due for its next recession real soon.

Some anon actually has both. Prefers HD600 for the mids.
Personally, I'm mid-centric. Voices + most of the instruments do live there. Forward bass just gives me a headache. I'm not even considering the HE400i because of that.

they weren't exaggerating, it just doesn't bother you. And yeah it happens to the HD600; there's only a handful of cans that don't do that: HD800, T1, MA900, orpheus, he-6 (maybe), AD1000X (not sure), etc. Anything with a wide presentation but does mids well.

Socialism works in the sense that it provides the middle class with a safety net. Communism doesn't work because it doesn't give people an incentive to at least provide to an economy.

I'm all for one payer healthcare, disability services, and financial assistance but I feel that unless you're crippled or disabled you should at least work part time to receive those things.

Jesus christ three peroids of 12 hours of straight up work? That's not worth the extra money. Once you get to the point I'm at more money doesn't make you any happier. All you need is enough to eat and maintain your computer, as well as it's peripherals.
I wouldn't trade 36 of my hours for more money.
It's the same thing in headphones.
Once you get past the $300 range the return for your money falls off rapidly. Most people say that if you start off with an hd600 you'll save yourself a ton in the long run.

Is the IE800 any good? The design is really nice and seems pretty unique in the midrange IEM category.

>>
>>62204523
>>62205648
Does not internally increase sample rate for signal processing.
Baseband reconstruction of discrete samples has two key issues intended to be addressed by oversampling.
One is quantization error. Quantization artifacts are spread out beyond the range of the original signal. Another is the analog filter.
A more relaxed analog filter (usually Bessel) can used to remove ultrasonic spurious solutions that come out from analog reconstruction. The "images" are pushed further up so that a low order filter can suppress them fully.

Wrong, the sound isn't the best but the SHP9500 is the comfiest set of headphones so far, with the AudioQuest NightOwl/NightHawk Carbon coming second on comfy. So far in my comfy quest I've tried the following other ones at home, from friends or in store:

Monoprice M1060
AKG K550/K7XX

Really, sounds great for me, I love when female vocals hump my head as long as imaging is precise. I don't mind small soundstage but I would like for some depth, I am completely fine with how vocals are on my HD600 altho I dialled down 1db at 3.5k because with some not so well recorded songs it's a bit too much at certain moments.

I don't get them until monday which is very sad. I have some spare sz1k pads I'm gonna slap on and probably solder balanced jacks on it just so I can reuse cables
>>
>>62207747

They sound more centered when I put them on backwards, but then I mess around with foobar and reverse channels and there's no discernible difference on a track where the vocals are supposed to be centered.

Alright, here's the deal: it's almost the end of 2017 and I've been using strictly only wireless Bluetooth headphones for the couple last years, simply out of principle and to gather all the needed first-hand experience on this entire "wired VS wireless" debacle. So, after using strictly only wireless headphones on a daily basis for almost two-and-a-half years, I can definitely without any doubt openly state that the "always pro-wired only" and "only highly expensive portable players, no pleb-tier smartphones" pseudo-audiophilic FAGGOTS are completely and absolutely FULL OF SHIT. I won't argue with anyone here that wireless headphones in general and wireless sound technologies in overall were utter garbage just 5-or-so years ago, but nowadays it's NOWHERE even remotely close to being as bad as it was in 2012 and further down the line. Everything (literally EVERY THING) the so-called self-proclaimed pseudo-audiophilic kiddie shithead trolls are openly and absolutely brainlessly proclaiming loudly everywhere about MODERN wireless sound technologies being "bad" or "not on par with wired" is COMPLETE, 100% BULLSHIT. Abso-effing-lute LIE. These retarded deaf kiddies clearly never used any modern wireless headphone piece that cost more than 50$ (and actually good/worthwhile wireless headphones start from the 140$ mark AT THE VERY LEAST) and/or they never tried Apt-X LL or ESPECIALLY the GODLIKE LDAC. The fags basically don't know jack about any of this, but they act like they're the hottest and most knowledgeable shits around the block while in reality they not hot shits, but just shit. Modern wireless sound IS actually very good and does NOT lose to wired at all by the sheer quality of sound and latency (if it's apt-X LL or LDAC), WHILE being WAAAY more convenient and comfortable to use due to headphones being completely (WELL, DUH!) wireless. Fuck all those pseudo-audiophilic pseudo-elitistic sudo-entitled "pro-wired" shitheads, I say. They know fucking NOTHING.

>What ~50$ range wireless headphones would /g/ recommend?
Unfortunately, there are almost no actually decent/good models in that price range. The closest one you can get to be of a "decent sound quality" is Rombica's "MySound BH-10 2C", but they have extremely crappy Bluetooth range and they usually tend to bug out and turn off even if slightest electromagnetic interference is nearby (like, for example, when you're in a convenience store and standing near a commercial fridge). Also note that the are literally "Chinshit Wireless" headphones. If you never ever had a pair of wireless Bluetooth headphones before and you wish to get ACTUALLY worthwhile device from the first attempt - you'd have to spend AT LEAST 120$ and these will be MEEElectronics' "Air-Fi Matrix 3" model. This is the EXACT very point where actual wireless QUALITY starts.

>Have they also opened it up for non-Sony headphones or do I need a Sony wireless?
That we don't know yet, as there are simply no massive amount of Android 8-based smartphones on the market so far, but I personally highly doubt that this will be Sony-only when it becomes mainstream, simply due to default LDAC implementation in all Android 8 devices making no logical sense in the case if Sony decides to not license this to other wireless headphone manufacturers. They've already licensed this to Android 8, so why the hell will they restrict it only to their wireless headphones now? That will be an asshole move and will undoubtedly garner a lot of critique on Sony's ass. I don't think that Sony's THAT stupid as to not provide other wireless headphone manufacturers with a LDAC license. And even if (and that's a very big IF) they actually in all seriousness restrict LDAC usage only to their wireless devices, this still at least leaves us an option to not use a Sony smartphone for it if we wouldn't want to, so there's at least that.

>Name one worthwhile wireless headphone that isn't shit-tier or overpriced for what it sounds
Plantronics BackBeat Pro 2 SE (monitor, closed, neutral, medium price segment)
MEElectronics AirFi Matrix 3 (monitor, half-open, bright, very start of the actual quality in wireless headphones so this is as low as you should go if you're planning on using LDAC or at the very least Apt-X LL)
Marshall Monitor Bluetooth (monitor, closed, V-shape, medium price segment)
Master & Dynamic MW60 (monitor, closed, V-shape, high price segment yet not ineptly overpriced)
Bang & Oulfsen H9 (monitor, closed, neutral)
Sony MDR-1000X (monitor, closed, warm-to-neutral, mid-to-high price segment)
Onkyo W800BT (IEM, closed, neutral)
JVS HA-S90BN (monitor, closed, V-shape, mid-to-high price segment)

All of these currently available headphones are absolutely worthwhile wireless solutions. The most expensive one in that list is Master & Dynamic MW60 and even it is not really overpriced (usually sells for 600$, but can be found for a cheap as ~420$ at some places during sale-off days).

P.S.
Answering the question that was made in the previous thread: "open" structure is not actually common in the wireless segment, at least when it comes down to monitor headphones, but if anything - you could always try MEElectronics' AirFi Matrix 3, they're partially open. Also please don't ever lump "closed" design and "bad" together all the time, because this is simply not true. All of the closed monitor headphones mentioned above are absolutely top-notch pieces of hardware and sound very good for their respective pricing segments (Master & Dynamic MW60 having the best materials and sounding phenomenally even in artificially created bad conditions, but it's sound curve, which is very clearly V-shaped, is definitely not necessarily for everyone. I personally prefer absolutely neutral sound, so my personal wireless headphones of choice for everyday usage are Plantronics BackBeat PRO 2 SE and Onkyo W800BT).

i dunno myself what is up with headphones like AKG and Beyerdynamics that insist on having perfectly circular earpads instead of oval ones

but whatever, if you want comfort, it's more important to ask if the earpads use memory foam or not. They can make a better seal and fit much more naturally around your head regardless of its shape unlike cheaper earpads. so more comfortable.

Well if you do decide to get a NFB. Here is what the quote/invoice looks like. My order had the TCXO upgrade (+20usd) probably makes no difference to sound. And the shipping by DHL. You can opt for EMS/auspost shipping for ~$35 usd instead. :)
>>
>>62214117
Good stuff anon, thanks a bunch
I probably won't order anything for a few more paychecks but the NFB is looking like the winner for me.

I got a fiio K1 because my PC's onboard broke and I wanted to use it on my ps4 as well but the surround audio is backwards

What headphones would this handsome man wear?

What's a decent portable amp that can get hd600s loud enough not ear piercing levels but comfy levels. I want one so I can use it with ny 3ds
>>
>>62214845
Check out the new portables from topping. I was shopping for a portable recently too and found they had the best output power for the money but I no longer have my numbers.
They're on ali and amazon iirc

Thanks

Hey, /hpg/. Recommend some good portable players. Something that isn't bloody expensive. I got a FiiO Q1 to partner it with, just need a nice player

Whats wrong with a cheap phone with a SD card slot? I have a dragonfly(don't buy this is shit) that I use with a moto e 2nd gen and a 64gb sd card. This way you'll have way more control over the UI and software that you use. Shit like AIMP, USB Player Pro($), Foobar2k are all nice. I got my specific model for $12 on sale new in box and it has god tier battery life and it's small.
I suppose a dedicated media player is good too but if you already have the source I don't see the point. That is the main upside to dedicated players, they have good dac/amp chips.
With the dirt cheap price of 64gb cards right now I think it's something worth considering.
If you still want to go dedicated pmp I suggest going to /csg/.
Pic related(it's before i got the moto e)
>>
I have an O2/ODAC and LCD-2. I really have no complaints but I have money I can blow. Debating getting LCD-3 and/or HD800s. Should I keep my amp and upgrade or is the amp holding me back? My experience is low, I just bought a good setup and have been enjoying it a lot for a couple years now.
>>
Can you help me decide on some speakers, looking for £50 or under ($65), with some good bass.
>>
>>62215214
I like my products doing only what theyre supposed to do. Kinda like how buying one thing that only does one job but does it job well is better than getting an all-purpose device, just for music. The Moto E4 Plus is a nice device though, I'll look into it.
>>
>>62215278
I actually have the moto e from before that, the e lte. I just bought that because it was on clearance for literally $12. My point was that a(any) cheap phone with an sd card slot will probably give you a good experience for cheap.
Either way I think PMPs are strictly the domain of /csg/ at this point, chinks are making them by the million.
>>
>>62215301
Alright, will do some research and ask there
>>
>>62215260
From that tier upwards most amps and DACs are better only on an inaudible level and the land of make believe. Go for the headphones, and if you still have money to blow a couple hundred on snake oil, buy a new amp.
>>
>>62215406
That's what I was thinking but like I said, I am an amateur. I didn't want to ruffle autism by posting a "cheap" amp with headphones that are 5x the cost. Thanks.
>>
I've read that for optimal quality you should set your system sound level to 100% volume and control the volume with your amp, but the volume is so loud that way that it becomes too loud for me if I barely even turn the knob. Am I being memed? Should I set my system volume to something lower?

What are entry level/average earbuds that would survive exercise, and preferably stay in your ears, constantly shoving them back in while running sucks.

I'm getting this A1 24bit DAC, what headphones should I buy to complement them?

I have QC35 but they are mostly for wireless noise-cancelation. I don't think they will do good here over the wire, or will they?

Go for a different sound, HD800 + Valhalla 2

I'd say not more than 350 EUR on the headphones.

I mainly listen to everything - hip hop, house, drum and bass etc..

The monoprice desktop amp provides the juice. Either that or a magni 2. They're pretty inefficient

Monolith M1060, HE-400S/400I, PM-3, ATH-R70X/AD1000X, K712, and HD 600/650 are some of your options at that price point. Not anon

Some people prefer different sound signatures. Same reason why some people go for the HD 650 instead of the HD 600. If anon can though, he should listen to each headphone
>>
>>62217812
Sure. Some people prefer beats, too.
But between 650 and 600, most seem to prefer the latter.

>>62217784
From the review it seems for me 650 is actually better because I don't listen to a lot of rock/vocal tracks.
>>
>>62218046
Neutral headphones are best for all genres. If you listen to primarily bass-oriented music and you get bassy headphones the music and the headphones stack the bass and you end up with a boomy mudfest.
>>
The difference between HD650 and HD600 is minimal, and both are pretty good, so you won't end up with trash even if you make the mistake of getting the lesser yet more expensive HD650.

For the most part yes. Quantization error is already really, really low, so using some of it for volume control has no real drawback. Actually, leaving the digital volume control at full scale induces its own problems in the real world.
If you want to satisfy that irrelevant audio itch, get a digital volume control that operates at 24 bits or more.

HD600's 30 Hz response is even with its 1 kHz response when it is measured with a good seal. Most music doesn't even have fundamental tones as low as 30 Hz. This is more than adequate bass extension. They are not noticeably lacking bass response. In fact, to my ears, which are used to completely flat, Etymotic-like bass, they sound slightly bass-heavy.
>>
>>62218155
Still a bass roll-off

>>62218155
