I'm getting a bit tired of the LG G3 I have currently.

What are the most decent phones lately that hover around the 400-500 mark max?

I'd like it to have a headphone jack, USB C, A fingerprint reader (On the back if possible), Good battery life, NFC, IR blaster (if possible), Removable battery (If possible), and an SD card (If possible).

I've looked at the LG V20, and it's the closest thing to what I really love and like, but it's impossible to get here, I've also looked at ZTE Axon 7, that looks like a decent choice.

Anything that about marks these things?
I live in The Netherlands.
>>
>>61898749
I bought an ASUS Zenfone 3 for about 350€ on MediaMarkt clearance.

8core 2'0 GHZ, 64 GB internal, 4GB RAM, 5'5 screen and a really nice camera with laser focus.

Only drawback is that the stock android it comes with is a bit bloated for my taste, but it supports AOSP with LegacyOS.
>>
After a bit of using different types of phones, i went back to Samsung for the s8+, although it has its problems i prefer it and at least the company services the phone. I had a Nexus 6p before it and neither huawei or google wanted to fix it. Bitched for 2 weeks before they finally gave in. I'm not one to but a warranty because i take care of my shit but it was even 2 years old and they were telling me no on a well known issue with the phone.
>>
>>61898810
How's the bloat on the S8? It's the only thing that's turning me off it right now

About to buy a Redmi Note 4.
What do?
>>
Really hoping for the V30 to be waterproof, that's pretty much the only thing missing... might be due for an upgrade from my 6S.
>>
>>61898822
Used it since release.

Not too bad. The only issue I had with it was the fucking Bixby button.

You can turn it off with apps and you can even fuck it with via root.

That's pretty much it. The other apps are non-intrusive compared to the fucking S6 for example.
>>
>>61898749
I'm Italian, my father bought a V20 on Ebay for €325
Yes the battery is shit, yes it overheats, yes the second screen is useless, and yes the audio jack is too large, plus it's way too big
If you don't mind this, it's a pretty good phone. I'm still in love with my Redmi 4 Prime tho
>>
>>61898849
PIZZA PASTA PUT IT IN A BOX

BRING IT HERE AND
>>
>>61898849
The LG G3 overheats, The audio is horrible of it.

Seems like some things never change.

Redmi 4 prime hmm?
>>
currently have a oneplus 3, getting tired of it for multiple reasons, oneplus 5 was a stillbirth imo so I'm just done with the OP brand.

Looking into an xperia xz premium, love the design of the phone (even though it has xboxhueg bezels), the hardware is amazing and it looks like the next 3 phones in the xperia line are all weaker and made for cheaper markets, so it doesn't seem there will be an upgrade in the relatively near future.

Anybody have one? Opinions about it?
>>
>>61898867
Shoot a hole in your head, gay ass retard

>>61898892
Maybe you'll prefer the Note 4X/Note 4 Snapdragon, it has way more ROMs, but coming from a G3 (yes, me too friend) I loved the smaller screen (5.5" for the G3 vs 5" for the Redmeme). But no Type-C and no NFC. It doesn't have removable battery, but it lastes 2 days so I don't care
>>
>>61898915
The frames are just too big for such an expensive phone IMO.

Makes me kinda mad. Also Sony has it FILLED with bloat.

For that price I'd rather go for a Huawei p10 or an S8, desu.

Even the LG G6 would do but eeeeeeh
>>
>>61898938
Well I figured I could just root it and get rid of the bloat, then I would just ramboost an SD to make it faster/smoother. I honestly love the design and the fact that it has arguably one of, if not the, best displays on the market currently and the top qualcomm chip, I might as well just go for that one
>>
>>61898838
Between that and the Pixel?
>>
Just bought an xperia Z2, sonys 2014 flagship for 99 dollars. Checked everything before buying and everything looks good, even the battery and keys.
How long can I expect this phone to last assuming I'll just flash aosp builds on it?
>>
>>61899399
Shold've bought BLU R1 HD instead.
>>
>>61899389
Depends. What do you use the most in your phone?
>>
Are the Sony reveals for August 31st going to be any good? Hope the new Xperia Compact isn't going to be a piece of shit
>>
My contract is up in october. Don't have a whole lot of options in aus with my carrier, but really the u11 or s8 is my best bet.
Anything else I should look at as an alternative, or even things that will release?
>>
>>61899673
Right now? Pokemon Go. And I hate myself for it
>>
>>61899848
I've had brief experience with the Pixel, but if it's for PKMN GO I mean just.

Whatever desu.

But between the two it depends if you like Stock android too much or not. I like the curved screen gimmick and it boils down to that AND the camera. S8's camera takes better night pics, Pixel has a tad better OIS IMO.

Also phone HDR screen on S8 is a nice gimmick if you own Amazon Pride.

All around they're similar, but I like the S8 a tad more.

USB-C does not automatically mean USB 3.1 though. Xperia XA1 for example has USB-C but that just means that the connector is reversible. The plug itself is still only 2.0.
Keep that in mind when looking for your phone, m8.

His current phone is some cheap Samsung ~5" device from a year or two ago, so just about anything new is faster.

I want a phone to replace my broken Nexus 6. I don't care about system specs like processor speed and RAM (playing videos is the most resource-intensive thing I'll need it to do). I want it to be waterproof, have compatibility with LineageOS (or an alternative to LineageOS), and have a good battery life. I *don't* want a big screen like the Nexus 6. A fingerprint scanner might be nice, too.

Check the supported bands, as some sellers/sites call it by a different name than others. Only the Global version has B4 (1700/2100) and B20 (800). Often "international version" just means it has the Global ROM installed, but that doesn't mean it's the Global version.

oneplus seems to have issues with MMS. They either get HORRIBLY degraded in quality or just not sent at all. >>
>>61898915
I like it overall. Good: Dual speaker, two stage shutter button, headphone jack, waterproof and good performance. Ok: battery, gets me through the day with some gaming, music and browsing. Fingerprint reader in power button, like the position but it's just not as accurate as huawei and apple. Bad: 4k screen that you can't decide what apps to activate it in, is retarded. Plastic sides, already got dents after 2 months.

Today i saw an used but mint condition moto g4 plus for 150 dollars at a pawn shop, is it a good deal or not? My country only got the 2/32 version so keep that in mind, any glaring issues with this phone besides being enormous and ugly as sin? It sounds like a fantastic deal for 150 dollars considering you usually only get blu, alcatel and low end samsung shit for that price, and i'm a poorfag living in a shit country so 150-200 is the absolute max i'm willing to spend on a phone.

I forgot to mention, i do not want to order xiaomi phones from china because mailmen here always steal money and valuable stuff from packages and the moto phones are overpriced if bought locally (250 for the g4, 320 for the g4+, 300 for the g5, 400 for the g5+).

My current phone is a Xperia Z1 Compact which I got around 2 years ago and its starting to get slow crashes frequently and sometimes it even shows stuff like "The plugged in headphones arent compatible" even though I have no headphone plugged in. What are the current recommendations for phones? Is there some sort of questionnaire that I can fill out like /hpg/ has?

Either way I need a new phone after my last one (a Xiaomi Redmi 4 Pro/Prime, which I was underwhelmed with) broke and then got stolen while I was overseas.

I don't need anything particularly powerful, as long as it can run basic applications like FaceBook, Snapchat and Instagram I'm golden. Need to have a MicroSD card slot with 128GB support. I don't need the camera to be great but a half decent one would be nice. Battery doesn't have to be fantastic but the bigger the better. Something with a strong screen is gonna be a huge bonus, regular glass just doesn't cut it anymore. Don't want anything with a fuckhueg screen, 5.5" is definitely a limit, smaller would be preferred. Internal ROM isn't an issue, I plan on having everything bar some apps on external storage. Prefer to keep the price under $200USD, cheaper is better.

Had a lot of problems with charging, after a couple months it'd connect and disconnect charging every half a second or so. It stopped doing it after a factory reset the first time, but didn't the second.

Repeatedly had problems with the SD card going missing and I had to constantly rediscover my entire music library.

Screen broke and scratched really easily. I'm not the kindest person to my electronics but I've owned a couple iPhones in the past that've been a whole lot tougher.

Also the phone itself is like a bar of soap. I couldn't rest it in my lap on the train without it slipping off every 5 seconds.

Other than that it wasn't too bad, camera and battery life were fine, though my brother's battery swelled up and popped the screen off after 6 months or so and I had to replace his screen twice in the time he owned it.

Overall I probably wouldn't recommend it.
>>
>>61915595
Were you using a screen protector? A lot of budget phones simply don't have scratch resistant displays so that will happen without one.
>>
>>61915622
Yeah, I had a "tempered glass" one when I got it but it broke after a day, afterwards I switched to plastic ones for a while but gave up after the screen cracked.

I'm not averse to other chinkphones but I'm just dubious about how strong the screen is gonna be, I get that the Redmi series is meant to be the budget phone in their lineup and that they have to cut some corners somewhere to bring the price down but a strong screen is one of the more desirable

How do Xiaomi phones compare in build quality to things like Moto and OnePlus? I'm tired of my Moto X Play killing my SDCards and overheating, so I need something with 128gb storage, the best possible battery, decent ram/cpu/gpu.

Currently trying to decide between the Huawei P10 and the Xperia XZ premium. The Xperia is the better phone but it's massive and the battery isn't great. So the P10 seems like a good alternative with a okay camera and screen that doesn't have to be in a tablet case.

Am I looking at the wrong alternatives here if I'm looking for a phone with a good camera and long battery life that isn't massive?

looking for a android phone with a better battery life and better speed(better cpu/ram?), sd card, and perhaps even a better camera. I looking to spend between 350 - 500 usd.

I flashed the NotSoStock ROM off xda-developers.
Yes, it was the correct zip for my device/model.
Afterwards, it was failing SafetyNet, so I restored my boot.img that had Magisk on it.
Now, holding VolUp will not bring the phone to download mode, it display the IMEI instead.
Holding VolDown used to bring the phone to fastboot mode, but instead, it also displays the IMEI. It's stuck at the LG bootscreen.
It's recognized by lsusb, and in Windows, so the device still functions, just can't get to recovery, fastboot, download mode, or transfer any files to/from it.

It's been out for like a month mate check xda, i recommend skipping on it and going straight to aosp ex or lineage though cause motorola optimized it like shit, i legit had to nuke it and start from zero because it was ungodly slow and my material TWRP got erased after flashing, i bet you ten bucks that the 7.1.1 rom was meant for the g4 plus but they decided to half assedly port it to the g4 play when all the pajeets who bought that phone started sending angry letters and death threats

t.someone who owns a g4 play and had to flash it back to stock, unlock the bootloader again and then went with CM13 for xposed

Really? I'm a filthy Latam monkey and the last update I got was last year's September security update. Trying to manually update says it's on the latest version.
This is my first phone with actual firmware updates so I'm kinda lost on how these things usually work, but I've heard this shit differs from region to region, and apparently Lenovo has been pretty garbage overall pushing out updates on time to begin with.
I wouldn't be surprised if it never becomes available here, but judging from what you say I guess it'd be a good thing if it doesn't happen.

I have lost the pic of "/g/s ideal phone", could anyone please post it?

Did it get prefetch images and auto-expand already?
Not switching until it does.
Slightly prettier UI is not worth it.

Best prepaid carrier to bring a Verizon phone over to? I'm getting kicked off of the plan I'm on and would prefer to go prepaid. Phone is a Galaxy S7.
>>
any idea why there's 2 sdcard folders after flashing lineage
I have :
/sdcard : which is the internal storage of the phone with all my files
and
/sdcard1: which populated after flashing lineage and is empty

Same. Unfortunately custom roms for this aren't very well done. Flashed LineageOS 13 on mine and it has bugs like random reboots and such. Also the Camera and head phone is utterly shit on all the custom roms. Reverted back to MiUI 8, Debloated it. Flashed Xposed. Blocked all connections to anything related to MiUI with LightingWall. Doin bretty good so far

Curved displays are dumb. The edge warps whatever is displayed on it, and they're easier to damage (hitting the side or back of the phone now damages the entire screen.

Miui has a built in firewall service and there's also miui roms that remove the Xiaomi sync service entirely.

It's unbelievable that so many people are still shilling for budget Chinese phones when they've already been proven to be total crap. They're loaded with spyware and explode more than Samsungs, but some people on /g/ STILL don't realize that you get what you pay for.

Shopping for a phone under $250.
I have several options:

>Brand new galaxy note 5 for $225
>Used LG G5 for $150
>Used 64GB Galaxy S6 for $215

Mainly looking for good camera and battery life with nice display.

Redmi note 3 pro is missing 1 lte band and it blows in my area.

Moto G/G Plus
Removable battery, expandable storage, stellar ROM support

I thought the G Play was the only one that had a removable battery.

What do you guys think of the upcoming LG V30?
>>
>>61926847
really hoping they keep the removable battery, headphone jack, and DAC
sad to hear we might lose the second screen, but it should make ROM development easier
>>
>>61925857
whats wrong with it?
>>
>>61926890
literally nothing, and it's better than a OP5 in every way while also being cheaper on amazon right now
>>
>>61926910
I was gonna wait till like black friday to see if it gets cheaper after the v30 announcement. I do think it should have a bigger battery though.
>>
>>61926944
Good choice, prices will probably drop further after the V30 release, people will sell theirs all at once so they can upgrade.
Either way, it's only $400 right now on Amazon, half off its original price, and the battery is removable so you can just pop in a new one.
I will agree with you on that though, with the chipset inside the phone, the battery should be bigger. There's been a few days where I thought it wasn't going to last.
