Last phone: galaxy note 3

No clue how the current situation is with phones but looking for any cheap shit similar to what i had.

$150-300
USA, tmobile
removable battery/micro sd, bigger screen is always good but willing to settle for slightly smaller too

I literally just use phones for ds/psp emulation, and occasionally email or authenticators. Dont give a shit about godtier cameras or whatever else phones come with but a nice battery life paired with a large screen is great for video gaymans.

Anybody have any recs around this price range? What are the commonly mentioned phones that would sort of meet this criteria?

no removable battery means you'll be forced to buy a new phone every 2 years. I'm not sure what the phone manufacturers say is the reason but that's the real reason
>>
>>61712833
LG was the last manufacturer to still have removable batteries in their flagship phones (G6 has a sealed battery, V30 will too), it's becoming less common in budget phones too.
>>
>>61713048
I've already been kiked out of more than $150 for fixing my note 3's screen and that turned out to be a huge waste of money since now my touch screen only works semi accurately with the stylus and doesn't detect anything when using fingers.

No point in throwing hundreds of dollars into something that is designed to break on you in 2-3 years. Will look into LG G5 and V20 or consider some other cheap alternatives. This jew shit has gone too far.

I don't frequent these threads (or /g/ in general), but I might have info that's useful. I work as a technician for Sprint at one of their corporate stores. LG has far and away been the worst manufacturer.

>G6
We're now seeing several devices per week that will not charge due to "water detected" in the charging port. The ports are 9 times out of 10 dry with no corrosion found, this sensor seems to be either malfunctioning or just throwing the code and never, ever resetting. This error message is common on the S8 and S8 plus as well, but the difference is that in the G6 the issue will likely persist or return. We've seen this issue range from intermittent charging, slow charging only, or complete blockage of charging through the port.

>V20
Mostly issues with lack of consideration in their design. This device has the build quality of the G4. Battery cover comes off, screws come out the back, and the plastic cover there is the only thing between your mobo and the elements. I've seen a LOT of liquid damage with this device, none of which seemed to come from submersion, just small spills/rain etc. It's a pricey phone to have for a market that's in a space race for waterproofing.

>G5
Same boot-loop issue as the G4 reared its ugly ass head late last year. Software flashing will sometimes resolve the issue, but mostly it seems to be hardware-related and leads to a device exchange after a lengthy mail-in repair. That, or the device is sent back "repaired" (level one repair, no parts used) and the issue comes back a month or less later. We've also seen dozens of them that will no longer find a GPS signal, also hardware. And the power button on the back goes out frequently, either no longer reading a fingerprint or not working at all. Replacing the frame/outer housing is necessary for that one.

>G4
kek
>>
>>61714567

>>
>>61714698
it's sad there always seems to be a terrible problem with every one of their phones, but the G2 is still my favorite phone ever. RIP.
>>
>>61714732
phones are three dimensional, fagget.

S8 and Z1 are completely different, visually, and the way they feel in your hand
>>
>>61714651

Sales for the HTC 10 were pretty low compared to most other devices we've carried, but even given their frequency in the market we haven't seen many of them for repair. Contrast this with other models (like the Bolt) that were not big, big sellers and it looks to be a decent device if you're going to Sprint. That being said, the ones I have seen with issues were either mistreated and damaged or had user-error software issues. Above all, the 10 is the best HTC model to choose at the moment given the intersection of price/age/reliability.

As far as design goes, I'm not as big a fan of the 10's rounded back (kind of like the M8), and I preferred the look of the A9 or Bolt more.

And for service and coverage, that's a different issue. I've seen wildly differing stories for Sprint's coverage and given what I've seen on our network tool, non-metro areas are pretty bad still. If you know anyone who works in a sprint store or can find one, they all have access to "Glance", which shows tower coverage data as well as network trouble/technician notes and tickets. If the area you're planning on being in looks spotty, you'll probably have some issues. Good luck man.

My LG G2 just died and I got a budget around 350 euros for a new phone.

Really considering the number of devices that are out there being used and abused, I think it would have to be Samsung. Our repairs are roughly half iPhone, half Android and though Samsung makes up maybe half of those Android tickets, fuckin' LG makes up the other half of those despite their sales compared to Samsung so that's where I'm coming from.

One thing I can say about them is that each problem I can identify with a given model is not existent in the next model. The S6 has a battery adhesive and ribbon cable problem (long-term heat related), the S7 does not. The S6 and Note5 have cosmetic issues with the colored vinyl (top and bottom of the screen, back glass) peeling, the S7 and S7 edge do not. I realize they recalled the Note7 last year, but the issues that phone had were not present in previous models and they developed some kind of new battery inspection process because of it.

Do be wary of curved/edge screens, though. Plenty of weird display issues with those. Shit like dead spots on the touchscreen, flickering, solid color stuck, black screen/burned out LCD, dead pixels, etc. I believe this is just an inherent problem in non-flat screens, though. Curving that shit definitely introduces some strain to the display and the corners of those are very common damage points.

My experience with those is limited, sorry. I haven't seen any with burn-in, ghosting, or any display defects at my location yet though. Also, those are non-AMOLED displays, right? LCD burn-in after a short time on those would likely be fixed after the Moto G4 brought it to their attention, but that all comes down to whether Motorola does it or not

All xiaomemes suffer from intense connectivity issues, and no it's not just about muh bands, xiaomeme is aggressive as fuck in their implementation of battery saving.
And no, you can't fix it with lineage.

And no, I'm not stating the major brands are free of issues, but there's a substantial difference between 3% of tens of millions of users encountering an issue and the simple fact a company like xiaomeme can't get notifications right (and no, the "3 steps" don't fix shit they're still delayed LMAO).

But alas, this is the poorfag I was talking about.

Anyways, chinkmemes are alright as side phones or temporary ones, but after owning two of them, never fucking ever. The lack of QA is disgusting.

These phones' problem is exactly that - they're not as well documented as mainstream devices. All chinkshit is like this and you might pay more in inconvenience and grief than you did in dollars in the end.

>The U11’s USB-C audio support seems to be proprietary, meaning it’ll work with HTC’s adapter but not with others (tested with a USB-C audio adapter from AliExpress). This won’t be an issue unless you lose the HTC adapter — if you do, you’ll find that you can’t just buy a cheap adapter. It’s not that the U11 doesn’t recognise the adapter, it specifically tells you that it’s unsupported and tells you to plug in the USonic headphones.

Sony Xperia XZ Premium, Galaxy S8, or S8+?

I hate curved screens, but if there is a definitive winner I don't care that much. My options are
>$300 for Moto G5+, no contract

I have until the 10th to decide since that is when the 50% off deal for the G6 ends from my carrier. I plan on traveling/staying abroad sometime next year so I don't want to be stuck with a CDMA device, but it's still a hard deal to pass up. You do realize that they removed it and instead gave you a pair of really great earbuds, right?

Your headphones are shit compared to USonic earbuds after they have scanned your ears.

HTC took something away, unnecessary in my opinion but gave you something special and unique in return.
And You still can use your headphones with the adapter.

Apple on the other hand removed it and gave you nothing in return but a delayed accessory that you have to buy separately from them.

If audio is not one if your top priorities then I wouldn't recommend the U11 but rather maybe the s8 but it's generally a shitty phone compared to everything else this year.

No chinkshit (they might be good, but I think im a bit too uninformed to get used to them)
No iphones.
Most importants for me personally would be
Battery
Storage
Actuality

Nvm, just informed myself about the Honor 9. It seems to be really good. How is it with Huawei and their actuality? How long do they bring updates out?
>>
>>61723548

>>
i posted this a few days ago and but the thread 404'd

i was planning on getting an apple watch along with an iphone se.

That's why no one is talking about it.

Lineage OS is a custom ROM, used to be known as Cyanogenmod.

>Z2 Force
>LG G6

Which one should I get?
I like Moto's stock Android and gestures and I have a Moto X 2013 so I feel more familiar with them. However, apparently the Z2s low light performance sucks dick and the battery is lacking.
The G6 seems like a decent phone but I haven't heard good things about non-stock Android skins. Plus it's made out of glass, the Z2 is a tank. The G6 also doesn't have gestures which sucks because it's what I'm used to.
I think I should cancel my Z2 Force preorder and get the G6 instead, but im unsure.

Sup /g/ I'm well overdue for an update in my phone. I'm an Ausfag with a Galaxy Note 4, on my third battery and the housing has really seen better days. My plan has been up for renewal for quite some time so I'm wondering what handset I should go for?
I'm wanting something with the following
>big/same general size
>headphone jack
>any price
>preferably with a stylus included
>removable battery if possible

Pls help, also interested in using it with an aftermarket stylus as a mini sketch pad

Why is lightning a superior connector when compared to usb-c /g/?

>clicks into place much more firmly and has a better haptic feedback
>pins in connector and socket won't break off as there aren't tiny plastic sheets holding pins together, but a metal reinforced connector and no pins in the socket itself
>easier to connect without the need to worry about breaking off the pins in the connector

Apple originally wanted lightning to be the usb-c design, meaning no proprietary costs for apple phones, but the USB IF decided to go for this retarded design just so notebooks can share the same chargers with smartphones, since usb-c variants wasn't complicated enough for consumers before having the risk of burning your house down connecting the wrong cables to the wrong device.

Pretend to cancle, argue competitor is giving me an offer worth paying the ECF.

Bitch and moan, escalate to a supervisor, be assertive but not rude.

Eventually they will throw money to either keep you as a customer, or throw money to get you to shut the fuck up and stop wasting their time.

>>61724072
It's not made in china, but by some chink in southeast asia. If you still insist on not using it, then at least admit that it is a racial motive instead of a political one.
There are several other eq's on the magisk repo (i've never got them to work though), and the arise mod on xda developers. If you just want an equalizer, just find a music player that can call up musicfx for you (spotify, google play music and poweramp are the examples I know of)

Just get a cheap chinaphone or a Moto E plus or something to hold you out until the Note 8.

Yeah that is totally worth it not being able to use what I want with the device.

I simply fail to comprehend how anyone can bother defending it, with the exception of buyers remorse.

Not a sprintfag, not even a burger but just ordered an HTC 10 a few days ago. Apart from the tonne of great reviews, reading stuff like this really reassures me that I made the right decision.

My HTC One M7 is dying from the inside (it still looks good but 1h SoT and the phone and network functions are on the verge of death)
I'd like a meme-free phone (no rounded screen, no samshit edge, no degenerate screen ratio) with a decent/great battery life and good call quality without having to get a bigger phone (4.7 inches is perfect).
I use it for :
>Messages
>Calls
>Some web browsing
>4kuk
>Love Live SiF

Should I :
>Get an iPhone
Great for everything but might be too expensive and I never really used iOS and I'll lose all my root and xposed tricks I like (youtube in background and no adds)
>Samsung Galaxy A3
Sell my soul to samshit and their shitty UI and button placement for a decent phone with excellent battery life
>HTC 10
Give up and get a bigger screen

No Sony please.

Fuck this noise.

I think I'm going with a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X 4GB RAM 64GB MTK X20 Deca Core.

$188 with 6-13 day shipping.

Is that a good price for this phone, and how realistic is Aliexpress with shipping and selling a genuine Xiaomi product?
