The site's problems are too many to list. Just off the top of my head, the biggest reason I stopped using it is the delay in uploading key releases, and then when the scraper gets around to uploading these files, it's often done in duplicate or triplicate for some reason. This is what people mean when they say that GoLang is not a serious language to work in.

There's rarely a perfectly defined thing that you're scraping and there are constantly edge cases and issues.

Even when you get it perfect, websites change and suddenly it's broken again.

Anime and manga is fiction, not some sort of academic literature or business documents. It's primary goal is to entertain, not to give Japanese linguistic lessons to foreigners. As such, it should be translated with functional equivalence in mind, period.
Like just consider for a moment something with a lot of jokes. Then consider the fact that nothing kills a joke faster than having to explain it. A comedy show where every single joke was translated "literally" and explained in notes would be basically taking a dump all over the whole idea of it being a comedy show.
People in general really underestimate the impact of script quality when it comes to actually enjoying a piece of media, and this very much applies to translations. A subpar translation can easily ruin a script that was very well written in its original language, especially when you're dealing with languages as distinct as Japanese and English.

Still, there needs to be some translation going on, or you should just offer RAWs. So why don't you just translate? Like the first example in the pic did, and then you can even take the explanations in brackets out. Because the joke would not be lost!! Why? Because the show is still not supposed to be watched in mute, you can still hear it, and this particular "joke" is nothing but a simple wordplay. So when you read the translation and hear the words, it becomes fucking obvious what the joke was, for any foreigner. Again, there is no need to explain any further, since you're not giving lessons, and the joke was understood without even needing notes. Plus, you have your translation, you didn't miss any meaning at all in the whole dialogue. And I repeat: the joke could be perfectly understood. Comparing it to that, the commie TL seems to be the subpar one. Not terrible, though... Of course, this is all arguable. But I really think it is better to honour the functionality without needing an equivalent. Just translate, man. (Again: this applies just in this case!!, usually the amount of adaptation that a line needs is variable, needing to comprehend the context and a lot of other simple stuff, achievable by common sense)
