Why do people keep trying to make other layouts when the 1800 already exists and is perfect in every way?

What switches could it have?
Does anyone know if these models have at least 6KRO?
>>
>>61349986
A tad overpriced, but you're not gonna get RGB Topre switches with MX stems anywhere else. If you want the authentic Topre sound, it's gonna sound higher pitched, and the switches feel lighter than 45g (that's what people say, I have no idea other than they're smoother).

I've been wanting to buy one myself, but have been hesitant because all the autists say they don't like it.
>>
>>61350041
Yea, just make sure it comes with PBT keys. Great board.

I just want a board in 96 format. If anyone were to make one easily available like Ducky or Leopold, they'd be millionares since the market is absolutely barren.
>>
>>61350197
I'm typing on a Type Heaven right now and it's alright. I prefer them over MX Browns in any case.
>>
>>61350262
Isn't that the board that doesn't have "real" Topre switches? I'm starting to think the Topre community is severely autistic.
>>
>>61350274
Topre autist are one of the worst fanboys existent.
They don't ever think that the "differences" between a real topre and a clone could be product of placebo.
>>
>>61350290
the differences between a real topre and rubber dome are the product of placebo
>>
>>61349895
Funny you chose that picture, I just bought a Dolch PAC 64. Hyped af.
>>
>>61350321
I'm sure that there's a difference between a capacitive rubber dome and a rubber over membrane over.
But that difference isn't too much.
>>
>>61350274
it has real topre switches
>>
I was fine with a membrane KB before but now I have to do a lot of typing and I can't stand missing keystrokes thanks to mushy keys. So I bought a WASD V2 104-Key Doubleshot PBT.

Insult me.
>>
>>61350540
Ducky One would've been cheaper for about the same quality.

If you're really worried, Leeku in Korea makes aftermarket 1800 PCBs that are 6KRO and fully programmable.

If you got it with MOD switches and GMK keycaps, then it would've been good.

The keyboard itself is decent enough, but the keycaps are complete trash. You didn't totally fuck up at least. How much you buy it for?
>>

Cherry MX Clear for 165.00 American seashells. Their doubleshot PBTs are considered bad too?
>>
>>61350635
Why do people always posts fucking guns in these threads. You idiots must be Americans.
>>
>>61350635
You spent extra money to buy a Mk25, but you didn't spend a little bit more for a better quality keyboard, why.

That being said, Chink shit is actually pretty good if it comes with Gateron or Cherry. The Tada68 is pure quality and that's straight from China.

Thanks.
>>
>>61350722
The fuck is a MK25? Also this keyboard is cheap, and I tend to change keyboard when the keycaps gets worn or shiny keyboard makers charge so fucking much for new keycaps.
>>
>>61350752
just get some real damn keycaps the pbt ones last damn near forever
>>
>>61350658
If you bought the keyboard they offer with Originative keycaps (complete black), you're fine, but if it's their keycaps, you're fucked.

WASD owns its own factory, and for whatever reason, they don't give a shit about quality. It probably has something to do with allowing custom printing that causes them to wear so easily.

So, you spend money on marked up pistols without even knowing what they are, and you buy completely new keyboards just because their cheap ABS keycaps wear instead of just buying $40 EnjoyPBT Cherry profile keycaps that never wear.

As I suspected, you're a retard.
>>

Please advise me on a MK:

>Budget - whatever is needed
>Location - UK
>Preferred switch type - Cherry MX Blue
>Layout - QWERTY, ideally ergo
>Form factor - 60%
>Backlight - Yes, but not RGB shit, white?, sidelit
>Previous/current keyboards - Logitech multidevice membrane junk and a cherry MX blue numpad I use for accounting rapidly

What do I buy chaps? I was looking at the erdogan or whatever it's called. A little put off by the autist aesthetic.

That sounds about right.

Check out the Tada68 and Poker II. If you don't like the Tada and want a true 60%, you can spend a lot more money to make your own with an aluminum case, white LEDs, programming, etc.

I'm honestly surprised nobody has yet reverse-engineered the flash applet or at least translated the chinese bits.

My greatest fear regarding my tada is that the dns-less server probably sitting in some chink's basement will die and I won't be able to reprogram it anymore.

>>
>>61350941
It you want something ergonomic then it's obviously not going to look just like a normal keyboard, except being magically more comfortable.

Ergodox is a good choice. There's a bunch of similar ones though. Atreus is a 40% one, though it's recommended you instead add a couple of thumb keys while building it because the current design is slightly retarded for no reason. Keyboardio is the ergodox for hipsters. There's certainly more I'm forgetting. Oh yeah, check out the Kinesis Advantage.
>>
>>61351467
Well our
Reddit
neighbor translated most of them.
https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/52totq/tada68_layout_editor_translation/
And supposedly you can replace the firmware and add lots of other stuffs into it

Feel free to give that a try and report back here.

It seems pointless... I have a feeling it would be annoying the constant change in switch types depending on what sort of typing one is doing.

Said this a number of threads ago: While comparing that to a TADA68, I found the MF's spacebar to be extremely wobbly and unstable.
Then again, the TADA was double the price.

If anyone was thinking of buying this or a different Outemu keyboard:

Got my 'VicTop/Easterntimes/whateverthefuck I-500' today (pic not mine). It's been a long time since I've used Cherry MX blues (I use buckling springs) but these Outemu switches are way clickyer than I remember Cherry MX blues being. It's surprisingly well put together for something so cheap, it makes my Unicomp feel like it is made of bin lids.

I need to use it more, but I think I might prefer these switches to buckling springs. They don't sound anywhere near as good to type on, but they have a more tactile, almost sticky/rubbery release. The only indication you've released a buckling spring key is the ping sound it makes. These don't make any noise on release sadly, but they feel a bit better in that regard.

I hate the uterus logo though, and the USB port connector thing looks pretty gay. Pretty good tenkeyless in my opinion for the price, ty to the anon who recommended me it.

Are the Unicomp keyboards worth the money? Is there a way to get one without the ugly Unicomp logo above the LEDs?
>>
>>61353128
I considered buckling spring but since my previous keyboard broke and I wasn't looking to spend too much money I went for this one. Guaranteed I'll have a buckling spring board as well within the next year or two, keeping an eye out for Model M's. Might get a Unicomp one but I'd really like an IBM one if I can find one
>>
>>61353057

G810. I got this a year or so ago not knowing anything about mechanical keyboards. Can I swap the keys?
>>
>>61353311
Quite sure it was an English seller, I'll check
Why do you ask?
>>
>>61353252
>Are the Unicomp keyboards worth the money
imo they are great to type on but the build quality is kind of garbage for how much you are paying. It never really bothered me though, the key caps are of good quality (I think PBT) and the board itself doesn't flex at all, the newer ones don't have the problem they used to have in the past where the number pad would flex. It's just the outer shell is made of a shitty creaky plastic, it's not the end of the world though, the rest of it is solid.

If you like pissing off people around you then buckling springs are a great option.

>Is there a way to get one without the ugly Unicomp logo above the LEDs?
Yeah, on the Unicomp site go to like the accessories section or whatever, they sell stickers to replace that light cluster. You just peel off the one thats on there and put that one on. They do a one without the logo, and also one that's just totally blank.

Just got a new keyboard. I came from one with an indented caps lock key, to one that doesn't, like, it's the same height the full length of the key.

I'm finding it hard to type on at the minute because every time my little finger tries to find the A key, I think I'm not all the way to the left because I can't feel the gap where the half sized caps lock should be.

Will I get used to this or have I just thrown $250 down the drain?
>>

Why do people care about the vertical height of a keyboard? The only time I could think it would be matter is if you were in a cubicle at a library or at work or something, but if you're using a mechanical keyboard in a setting like that you're an immense faggot.

Pretty embarrassing. I bet you jump on every opportunity you get to talk to people about why your keyboard is smaller than theirs.

>>61357431
It's not a meme form factor. If you have a fuckhuge mousepad and not such a big desk, moving the section of the keyboard you actually type on a few inches to the right makes a hell of a difference. It's annoying as fuck having to reach to the left like a total shitter.

There is literally no reason to use 60% when 40% exists.

If you want everything to be in close reach, and the keyboard to be really compact, 40% is objectively superior. If you don't like using layers so much, 65% or even 75% is objectively superior. 60% is the worst of both worlds.
>>
>>61352209
I got it on sale for like 30€.
It's my first mech keyboard. I've felt really impressed with how solid it feels. The keycaps aren't great quality, in that the lettering starts to fade after use.
8 months in and the WASD, ctrl and shift keys are starting to fade.

But overall it's been a pleasurable entry into the mechanical keyboard world. Once i upgrade i'll go with something less noisy, and maybe with a numpad, or i'll buy a separate one.
>>
>>61357761
Disagree

40% is pretty horrible for productivity, being able to touch type a small string of numbers without breaking typing at full speed is important as most people still use a number fairly often when typing. A fn layer is great for fn keys, arrows and the like when you are already breaking full speed touch typing.
>>
>>61349986
Topre is a weird choice.

On the one hand the Realforce is the BEST feeling keyboard there is. The sound is also the most satisfying. Because it's electrostatic it's presumably extremely durable and you can always replace the individual rubber domes.

On the other hand the typing experience is hit and miss. It's difficult to know where the actuation point is, sometimes you'll have letters swapped all over.

Needs a lot of practice to compensate for it and you'll lose about 5wpm. But fuck does it feel and sound good.
>>
>>61357911

Have to agree with this, definitely worth it for the feels though

No, they come with their own Razer switches that are rebranded Greetech switches which are complete crap. I also think that they come with a non-standard bottom row. Cheap ABS keycaps too.

Avoid Razer, Corsair, & Logitech. Get Ducky, Leopold, Varmilo, Filco, or any of the Chinese boards with Gaterons.

It's like the Strafe, but worse. Everything is made of plastic so it's gonna feel and sound cheap as hell. Plastic backplate, cheap ABS keycaps, non-removable cable, non-programmable, REEEED LEDs. I personally think it looks ugly as hell.

It does have standard key sizes and Cherry switches though, so you could change keycaps to make it half-way decent. And I'm not sure you can find a full sized board with Cherry or Gateron switches for that price (maybe I'm wrong and someone can find a Plum108 for cheaper).

For $65, it's a decent entry board if you've never tried a mech before.

Browns are often called "reds with dirt in them" and after using clears I'd have to agree. The tactile bump in the clears is so much more pronounced and the weight of the keys is so much better. I wish I'd gotten them sooner. Compared to reds clears would be much heavier and have a pronounced tactile bump compared to the linear reds

Nice man thanks for the info. I like switching things up from time to time just to experience something new. I really want to try mx reds some day just to see how I like them.

Matias Click KBP V80, costing so much because I live abroad.

Looking into it, I'm not sure you can even get a 75% with Matias Clicks unless you make it yourself.

Good board but get the one with PBT keycaps otherwise you get something like this.

Here's what you look at:

Tada68, Drevo, and Plum are good Chinese boards too.

45g topre clones feel less tactile than 45g topre. Get 55g clones which feel like 45g topre or 65g clones for 55g feeling topre

Make sure you get something with F keys or women will laugh at you.

Don't buy something with linear switches or we will laugh at you.

Don't buy anything RGB or everyone will laugh at you.

is cherry mx red nothing more than a meme?
>>

Reds are fucking trash. So are browns
>>
>>61369743
Go use them, any PC shop will stock mechanical keyboards these days.

They are kind of just as good as a 'good' membrane keyboard in my opinion.
>>
I have to find a new keyboard instead of using MX Reds which don't have any feedback. Consiodering browns but they seemed strange and would use them for long probably.

Any cheap boards with 2-5 same switches?
>>
has anyone ever lubed their switches before? because it got super old? mostly talking about blue switches here

is there such thing as a set of parts that contains everything but switches and keycaps that you can make into a 104 key keyboard?

Can you still comfortably play dota2 on blue/brown gats?

Just got my keyboard. Holy shit it feels so much better to type on this.

>tfw mechanical keyboards aren't a meme

It's way more satisfying and my fingers just glide around the keyboard effortlessly. The only thing is I'll have to get used to the noise it makes. It's way louder than I expected.

I'm bought the Redragon Vara btw I'm really impressed by how good the build quality is

Nothing stopping you playing games on any keyboard so long as it has adequate rollover.
>>
>>61370357

I've heard people say that tactile would be worse for double tapping. I'm using MX blacks now and those are fine, but the keyboard itself is kinda worn out.

by that logic keyboards are only just "hunks" of metal and plastic

what do you guys think about lk optical switches?
>>
>>61370412
I've heard people say as much too but I've never found it an issue at all on any keyboard I've used.

>Redragon Vara
Nice keyboard. I used to want that one too until I try the demo at local store and I found that cherry blue is much better (more expensive too).

>>61370412
Cherry brown is the best for double tapping thou, because the bump is very light.

Lol they do sell one. They have the 303 and the 403 both ar 75% and the 403 is split

Yes its called a kit and you can get them from chyna
>>
>>61367897
It would've been cheaper but I got a good use out of the blue switches before going for greens (about a year). Also by that you mean that yhe shape of the caps lock key is different? I still find it weird that it doesn't have stabilizers
>>
>>61371141
Ah, I see the one you mean, the one made by Matias themselves. I didn't bother to look at their layout at all because they look fucking awful and are made of piano plastic which I hate, I just assumed it was a TKL.

Meh, it has bezels which probably makes it barely any thinner than a TKL in the real world, I also couldn't handle it missing a dedicated print screen button. It was mainly the width I was wanting a TKL for as I have limited desk space and a huge mousepad.
>>
>>61371191
>Also by that you mean that yhe shape of the caps lock key is different?
No I just mean that the keycaps are brittle/weak feeling and shiny ABS plastic rather than PBT. It isn't that big of a deal I suppose as you could change them were you so inclined.

Other than the caps though, the thing has really great build quality for something that is near enough so cheap it's disposable.

>>
>>61371277
You can rebind one of the keys to printscreen. The only reason why it has a large top bezel is for the built in usb hub, the other bezels are as big as the kbp v80 you bought. The glossy plastic does suck, but the build quality is one of the best for a plastic case. Luckily you can remove the gloss. The 75% layout sucks tho and wouldn't recommend it.
