Found a fake rolex.
Was astonished by the amount of work they did on small details for it to not look fake.

Laser etched in the crown into the glass and everything.
Only when I took the back of you could see the less than ideal parts.

Pretty damn cool they went the extra mile

It appears that Daini Seikosha and Suwa Seikosha continued to use their respective marks on watches made by each half of the company well after they were renamed Seiko instruments and Seiko Epson, respectively. As far as I can tell, their marks were used at least until the early 1990s and were not phased out until the 7SXX/4Rxx/6RXX/6SXX/8RXX era of movements.

Don't forget that to this day Seiko Epson remains involved in the manufacturing of parts and/or complete stepper motor quartz and spring drive movements for Seiko watches. It is only the purely mechanical models that are made by SII exclusively.

I've never worn a watch. A friend gave me a Fitbit and I enjoyed it more than I thought.

It capped out in only a few months, so I'm thinking I'll upgrade to a fitness tracking smartwatch. I'm looking at the Garmin Forerunner 235. Any recommendations or warnings?
>>
>>61250949
>It capped out in only a few months
What does this mean? I don't know anything about Fitbits.
>>
>>61251055
Typo. Crapped out. The band I have is one piece, and it's started to tear away from the display.

Its not awful as it was a hand me down, but fitbit won't replace it and if I'm strapping something to my arm every day it may as well be a watch.
>>
Are Seiko SARB watched put together by hand? They sure have a heft that reminds me of a luxury brand watch.
>>
>>61251288
Humans are involved in their assembly, though I caution you that the mass of an object is not a good indicator of it's provenance.
>>
>>61250949

Garmin trackers are great. I used to own a Fenix, it served me well.
>>
>>61251105
I'm not trying to steer you away from our world of watch-centric autism, but why not just replace the band?
>>
>>61251552
A few reasons, I guess.

-I want to switch companies since I don't trust fitbit build quality now

-I'm interested in a larger display that reads better in sunlight, I have really bad eyes

-I'm interested in some smartwatch functionality, like being able to read a message or change music tracks. I don't need that stuff, but it'd be cool.

Since I'd have to spend about $150 to replace what I started with, it makes sense to spend a bit more and step up.

If it wasn't clear, this particular model doesn't have a separate band and display, it's all one piece. My band is fucked, so my whole unit is fucked.
>>
>>61251884
Wtf I hate Fitbit now. Which model is it?
>>
>>61251903
Charge HR. My friend bought one a year ago, it had the same problem they replaced it, he used it for a few months more.

Switched it out for a Garmin watch (hence my interest) and passed it on to me and then had the same issue, but since Fitbit fulfilled the original warranty they are saying tough shit.

I was originally going to write it off and get a new one, but they jerked me around a bit playing like they might actually help, so fuck 'em.

To be fair, the new model HR2 in pretty sure does have a replaceable band now.
>>
>>61252012
>I was originally going to write it off and get a new one, but they jerked me around a bit playing like they might actually help, so fuck 'em.
Tell them this, see if they'll give you an HR2. Still get the actual watch, but keep the HR2 as a backup, or give it away or sell it.

>>61255875
>Why the fuck would you be able to sell a new watch for more than you bought it for?

some watches are only sold in certain retail locations or countries and people will pay more for them than retail in other countries
>>
>>61255875
Not him but around here prostitutes are major customers for high end watches. The reason is simple: a watch is an easy way of transporting money and is reasonable convertible in their home countries. So prostitution is one of the major reasons for the large second hand (or "pre owned" as they prefer to call it) market for watches.
>>
>>61256229
>Not him but around here prostitutes are major customers for high end watches.

Tourbillons are a very useful complication for accurate timekeeping during intercourse since they eliminate positional variation. A moonphase also helps with tracking the menstrual cycle. And it goes without saying that a minimum of 200m WR is recommended.

I really loved the TNG as well, but the other shows are not bad.
Voyager is a bit slow the first couple of seasons and I didn't like neelix or whatever he was called, but 7of9 made that series.
DS9 was very different as well, but it was still great with more continuity than the other series.
ENT was more action than science fiction, but there were a lot of great moments in that as well.

How much of a Loser do you have to be to have a hobby centered around Watches?

>>61275224
The kind of loser who has enough disposable income to blow it on $10,000 wrist candy.

Name a hobby that doesn't make you a loser?

i was not defending panerai. I said they are kind of interesting if you are into the history of the military diver. I would never suggest anyone buy one or ever buy one myself. The guy already bought it... what do i say go fuck yourself?

Does bus drivers get paid well? I didn't expect a city driver to have a $30,000+ grand complication watch.
>>
>>61277592
It probably got passed down from his dad or something
>>
>>61277592
Bus drivers in some cities get paid extraordinarily well. A few years ago I was talking to a driver in Pittsburgh and he was talking about how the folks who have been around for a while are getting six-figures (which is a lot in Pittsburgh, the cost of living is pretty low).
>>
>>61277336
Never judge someone based on what they are doing right now. You have no idea why that guy is working that job or how much money he has. My father was sitting at home every day after he retired and he got so bored he wanted to meet interesting people. he now drives a limo... he is a millionaire. He picks up people poorer than him every single day.

Why pay less for shit? I don't get it. You guys like to get penetrated by meat logs. If you don't have a lot of money look for a similar fucking seiko.

Ignore them. Skaagen are good for what they are.

But note they are fashion items, not real watches.

>>
>>61279843
My dad had a Skagen and it lasted for about six months before the movement shit itself. This is a common complaint among Skagen owners. Ignore this dumbass unless you don't work for your money.

>>61279907
Good, we still don't have enough feedback from the in-house movement so I may have gone ETA, but the warranty's 5 years (the rub is that if there are issues with the in-house, it will affect value).

it's a gay ass microbrand watch from kickstarter. hamtun h1.
i like it though.
full titanium case and bracelet (+silicone strap), sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel, seiko NH35 (hacking/hand winding), drilled lugs, screw down crown. All for £150.
going to use it as a beater.
It wasn't perfect. The titanium bracelet had a bunch of loose screws which were literally falling out, had to loctite the fuckers, the lume is really shit and the silicone strap came with a disgusting stainless mirror finish clasp which doesn't match the case at all. I had to take the titanium clasp from the bracelet and put it on the rubber strap.
Other than that i can't really complain, for the money it's a bargain.
For the same money i guess i could have bought another fucking seiko or something.
It was fun being involved in the development of the watch, especially now that it's on my wrist.
>>
so why all the love for tudor?
>>
>>61280799
Cheaper modernized Rolex brand which is putting out interesting new watches while actual Rolex continues to just make their classic watches flashier and uglier and more expensive for the rich showy Chinese market.
>>
>>61280799
Because they actually make high quality watches, and their new silicon escapement, free sprung balance, balance bridge in-house movement is bringing you Rolex tier movements for Omega tier prices.

Basically they are mostly everything horologically virtuous compared to the craven cynicism of the Swatch Group and virtually every other "Swiss" production watchmaker.
