Samson SR950 pads. I used to have Cosmos pads on them but the subbass rolled off too much and bass in general was more in the background. The SR950 pads brought the sub closer to neutral and EQ helps.

According to them the SHP9500 sound just as good as the HD600 for 1/3 the price, don't snap on you and DT990 sound better than both.
>>
>>61243986
Whenever people bring price into a review there is a bias. 600s sound slightly better but not $200 better, but it's still a fact that they provide more clarity than the 9500.
>>
What are the benefits of running a headphone balanced vs single ended?
>>
>>61244569
Of course you have to factor in the price, after all you're paying for it. Well, unless you're a NEET leech who gets everything for free.
I also didn't factor in the cost of an amp that you will need for the HD600 which is about 100USD, that's now 300USD more for the HD600 that perform virtually the same as the SHP9500 that cost 100USD and don't need an amp.
Also what about the DT990? They have a better rating on overall sound than both the HD600 and SHP9500 and site between both at 175USD on amazon. The 80 Ohm version does not need an amp, the 250 might need one, still cheaper and better according to rtings.
>>
>>61244837
>I also didn't factor in the cost of an amp that you will need for the HD600
The HD600 has high impedance, so impedance mismatch is unlikely. It doesn't *need* an amp, but as always when spending that much on headphones, it doesn't hurt to ensure your source isn't shit.
>>
>>61244873
Considering most use standard laptops or PCs without high-end onboard chips yes you will need an amp, at least most will. So that's another 100USD.
So what's about the DT990 that are considered being better and even are on the recommended list, what about them?

>>
>>61245496
Do not believe anything posted here blindly. Don't overspend on meme shit and do not actually buy any headphones just because someone here said so, find a store or someone who owns them and listen to them. Different strokes for different folks, some might enjoy Bayer's treble, some Senn's mud. There's nothing wrong with wanting a bit colored sound if you simply like it more than a flat FR.
One thing I can confirm though, I had the HD650 in my hand and the plastic creaked so much all the time I could swear I held $20 chinese headphones in my hands instead.

>>
>>61245670
Are they broken? Are you not satisfied with their sound? Do you have unlimited money?
If you answered no to all questions, do not upgrade.
Buying new headphones is like chasing that high. The first time you upgrade from some stock mobile earbuds to proper headphones, you're blown away and everything is amazing. Then you invest into some $150 headphones with your preferred sound signature and it's great, but not as amazing. So you start looking further, you get some cans for $300, but the quality raise isn't as high, that sense of wonder isn't there. So you convince yourself you hear things that aren't there to justify the money spend. Before you know it, you're eyeing that one $500 model that is supposed to sound brilliantly, hoping that this time you'll get that amazement high. It won't come, but you'll still try to justify your purchase because it's easier than to admit you just spend several hundred dollars for heavily diminishing returns.
Don't make the same mistakes as me.

If volume doesn't increase when you pump it up, your source's not keeping up.
You need an amp. A lil amp+dac usb device like the schiit fulla2 is a good first purchase, and you'll likely never ever need anything more.

It simply isn't. It's you being retarded. HD600 like all high Ohm headphones will most likely require you to buy an amp while low Ohm headphones like the SHP9500 do not. That's something to consider when buying.
>just not by price vs sound
Yeah no. They can. As i said, unless money is not a factor for you it IS a deciding one and no sane person will spend 300+100 USD when they can get like 98% the experience for 1/4 of that.
>What question?
According to your review site the DT990 are the best of those three headphones. Why not simply buy them for the better overall experience. Better build, good comfort and better sound than HD600 while being cheaper.

All headphones start out tight, and gradually loosen the more you use it. Please help me! I don't like my Sennheiser HD598s. They're awful. I don't like the sound at all. All anyone does is suggest HD600s, and I'm completely at a loss. Could you please recommend another brand with my solid build quality than Sennheiser?

I listen to a lot of pop, rock, metal, classical, and yea..

Going by that, you're pretty much guaranteed to have some issue with your source.
Get an amp. Schiit Fulla 2 is suggested.

Got any good suggestions for a portable DAC/AMP?
>>
OK. So memes aside which pair of headphones is in the sweet spot? I have an Astro Mixamp pro.
>>
>>61250049
If portable means to use @ pocket... just use your smartphone.
If it doesn't suck, it'll have a decent amp built in.
>>
>>61250044
Schiit stuff doesn't help, they barely affect imagestage and the overall timbre is unimpressive.
>>
>>61250052
>I have an Astro Mixamp pro.
I tried one of these in the office with my HD380 Pro, as a coworker uses one.
It's absolute garbage, noisy AF too.
>>
>>61250060
>they barely affect imagestage and the overall timbre is unimpressive.
Schiit's particular about being true to the recording (transparency). Don't expect their devices to color anything.
HD598 will sound weird on a poor source, as it has some crazy peaks of impedance, which will fuck FR. They sound like different headphones with and without Fulla2, as compared to motherboard.
>>
>>61250052
>Astro Mixamp pro
Don't use that shit. Price to performance for headphones is usually $150-300/400 USD.
>>
>>61250103
It's not coloring. A good amp will reproduce the ethereal and liquid nature of some recordings and schiit simply doesn't do that.

A real headphone amp like MDA, DAC X6, E10K, Fulla2 or Magni2.
>>
Tell me why I shouldn't buy shitty Steelseries Siberia headset for 60€, /g/.

I need a microphone, period. I've owned previous versions and found them comfortable to wear over long hours, so I know that I'll have that front covered too. I'm not a big audiophile either, and feel like the V2 I'm using right now are good enough.

I know, I know, shitty retarded gaming headset. But what else combo of headset+mic can I get for under 60€ that has better quality and comfort than these? Will /hpg/ convince me otherwise, or should I just do it and ignore you autistic retards?

It's always better to have a seperate mic and headphones for versatility. There's also the HMC-681 if you want another option for a headset. It's basically a Superlux HD 681 EVO with a mic.

>>
>>61250477
Update to this: I actually found out that Amazon is selling those for 34€, which makes it even more appealing.

>>61250530
I actually find it annoying to have one on the table, but I'd deal with it if it was legit better for cheaper/same price. Problem is, everyone says it's cheaper but then recommends a combo that would be at least 150€. I don't want to pay that much.

>>61250536
My current Siberia V2 have lasted me about 7-8 years. They're still perfectly good in terms of hardware, but the cover on the earpads is peeling out everywhere, same on the top part, plus the earpads are starting to degrade in comfort and hurting my ears because of it. If not for that, I wouldn't even be looking for new ones.
>>
>>61250602
Just buy a fucking samson go mic. It will last you a decade. Figure out headphones later. Maybe you'll even end up buying a pair worth owning.
