This thread is for the discussion of NyaaPantsu (pantsu.cat), a free (FOSS) torrent indexer, and other nyaa alternatives.
The aim of this project is to write a fully featured nyaa.se replacement in golang that anyone will be able to deploy locally or remotely.

>Why is Pantsu down/error 502?
Most likely because the team is deploying changes. Wait for a bit and refresh the page. It should be mostly stable now.

If there is a nyaa replacement already, why even have this thread? We didn't have daily nyaa threads back when it was still up. This general does not have a place here anymore.

I was into anime for a few years... Too much time trying to find shows, download then store rather than watching. Made me move on from anime altogether.

So what happened to nyaa or whatever? I never used them, just google searched torrents and that was that.

Did anime torrent sites vanish or some shit?

Piracy going away didn't increase sales did it? Why anyone believed that was stupid inn on itself. But. I don't care about downloading anything now.

I just buy if I REALLY need it, if I don't need it I don't bother. Too much shit to worry about.

I think it's probably a better idea to get the new torrents as fast as possible for automation before the old torrents

OK, Pantsu seems to be mostly working now. Time to watch anime.

What are you guys going to watch on this season? I'm interested in Fate, but I've read somewhere that I should read Strange Fake before watching Apocrypha. Didn't check other shows yet.

>>
>>61222935
Nope, the current versions of both are pretty similarly conceived, but that's about it. In-story they aren't tied to each other and of course neither is a prequel to the other. You can watch/read any whithout knowing the other.
I actually like both, though, and they are the Fate entries that I am most excited to see getting an adapt (besides Heaven's Feel, of course). And there aren't a lot of good Fate stories around nowadays

Pantsu is really dead huh, what about people uploading with random flags on sukebei? stop the search box focus behaviour.
if you search some shit and want to use the mouse to confirm (quick copy/paste is faster that way cuz the box doesn't autofocus) the icon jumps from under the cursor
that is SHIT behaviour

move shit to the left to make the box wider from the start so you don't need the focus behaviour

autofocus could be nice but if you do it it needs some js to jump back to category drop-down first then resume normal behaviour. easier to just make the box fixed size rather than dicking around with width

Why not use the previous advanced search? It would be more useful if other refining features are added like search by username, hash or filename.
Or at least if you don't want a new tab or an extended menu that can be hidden above the torrents list make it like in the archives with a further right bar and a drop down menu that doesn't overlap the torrents list, however it would be wide header all over again.

Are you talking about pic related
I personally dislike it because you're forced to search for something to see it (can't have empty search box)
And the header needs to be worked on because there's some overlap going on in Japanese and a few others on long user names / when opening the user menu. The previous picture i posted reduces it's width while retaining the same search options (on top of having more option & room for even more like flag search and whatever will be added in the future)

Ugly. Do it like how other pages do it, have an advanced search link that either expands the header downwards for more search options or opens a new advanced search page altogether.
Also make sure you get rid of the "between # days and # days old" and replace it with between XX date and XX date. Number of days old requires more steps than just inputting XX date to XX date.

That doesn't exactly say that trackers are bad, trackers are in a way faster.
Opentracker software is quite efficient and a cheap vps with 100mb/s can definatly handle at the very least 1m seeders/leechers. The title of that article also looks like clickbait. Torrents can work without a tracker but a tracker makes things a lot easier.

Pantsu only needs 1 textboard to post issues and talk about the site itself on it. You can use 4chan for talking about other stuff. Pantsu's textboard should only be about the pantsu site and it's development and any issues that would occur relating to anything on the site.
>>
>>61268841
Yes it is.
>>
>>61268874
There should be a clear separation of strictly bug related issues and feature request (aka ideas about useless stuff that retarded devs put more priority on that actual bugs).
>>
>>61268874
Nobody died and said 4chan was the end all be all for discussion. I would like to see other text boards on pantsu being used for the purpose of rebuilding the sub community, translating media, and just general discussion of either sfw and nsfw topics that pertain to Pantsu.

I never implied that either. I'm saying it's pointless to build pantsu up as another 2ch clone as it goes outside the scope of the site and frankly speaking, I doubt you'll get many people to post there in the first place.
>>

Exactly. So having multiple categories of textboard for pantsu is going to be worthless when they're all going to be empty.
I mean just look at this thread. It can barely sustain itself anymore. Pantsu only needs 1 textboard at most.

This guy gets it.

These pantsu guys may boast about nice concepts like "more sites the better" >>61286818 and other nice sounding things like "transparency" and "no ads" and then be plain shittalking the very site they so desperately seem to depend on for content in their cozy IRC circlejerk where nobody ever says anything mean to them. You might want a reality check there guys, the site is run by incompetents who can't even scrape properly because their fucking scraper goes full bore with no sleep time whenever it runs, and go figure cloudflare considers that to be a bot and asks for a captcha. How many issues has the site had now? All technical in nature? Fuck if I know, I lost count around the 15th server migration, and 30th time the search was fucked up. I'm sure I'll get the usual "nyaazi shill" knee jerk reaction, but frankly everyone should just use tokyotosho, they've been around since 2006 and will outlast nyaa.si or pantsu, also the owner isn't Australian.

>>61288085
>They just won't whitelist their rival
Why should they willingly cooperate with an openly hostile 3rd party? Sure is entitlement.
>>
>>61290689
it takes me 4~6 seconds to load a page, it's acceptable; to compare, a google search page is loaded in 2 seconds.

ping 188.42.254.39, min 127ms, max 164ms, avg 146ms, in 30 ping request

I'm in Asia.

TT is not a tracker you dummy.
>>
>>61291528
I might still switch server since this one is rather slow in terms of actual connectivity and it might not last during peak traffic times, however thanks for the info.
>>
>>61292570
Because there aren't infinite available open trackers that won't continue to exist forever. Also what is DHT? Do you even know how torrents work? Lol.
>>
>>61293821
>Because there aren't infinite available open trackers that won't continue to exist forever
Sure, that's why you only use nyaa for your chinese cartoons.
>>
>>61293876
The point is that bittorrent is pretty resilient with DHT, PEX and tracker exchanging between peers. All it takes these days is one peer to tell your client about some trackers from you starting with none in DHT. Hence the reliance on silly "anime trackers" makes no sense. Just use an indexer like TT with open trackers which has been around for eons and is proven.

How come this shit project is still alive?

/g/ found out they can do email and make a web-based kernel with Go. Because screw making a good website.

You say that as if pantsu isn't in it to profiteer too.

>facebook
>Shitty stickers for their cringy logo
>2.80USD(?)
Would anyone even use these? Like holy shit how could you not be embarrassed to be seen with this IRL. Let alone the laughable price. Seems like they've got a few thousand too at least from the video on their twitter. I'll eat my shoes if they sell more than a couple dozen.

>Upcoming store all your weeb needs.
>Upcoming store
Using piracy to launch your business is cool I guess.
>all your weeb needs
So basically they want to try to be another stupid anime store like jlist, if this isn't attempting to profit from piracy I don't know what is.

>>
>>61298295
I would buy it to support pantsu, not to win some abstract war against the cartel. Besides, I would like to know who is selling it before I blindly throw money at something
>>
>>61298189
That's avoiding the question here...
The problem is not whether anyone can or can't sell it, it's WHO is selling them.

The money will be used primarily on hosting and bounties.
I wasn't even going to advertise or post about it until after pantsu was actually stable and completely functional.
