I just installed my first ever Linux system, putting a Debian 9/XFCE on a brand new Lenovo. I can confirm that everything just werks out of the box. My only problem was that I can't get temps for the Intel 405 GPU. I ran sensors-detect in root, said y to everything but still nothing. My GPU shows fine in lspci and OpenGL info.
I read somewhere that Mesa Intel GPU drivers aren't as good as Win drivers. Is it true?
Also I get great CPU temps. I mention because people complained about overheating on Linux but I'm getting 40 idle and 50ish under load.

Can someone tell me more about Qubes OS. I currently run on openSuse but have to run some windows programs for work which i do in VirtualBox since I couldnt set up a shared folder in virtmanager. Ah, you want to send mail to a foreign host. Quite a different beast.

I know very little about this. There's a good chance you already have an email server, but other servers will probably reject your mail if your host doesn't have a domain name - I think it goes like that.

If you don't plan on hosting a full-fledged mail server on that machine, I think what you'd need to do is instruct sendmail, or whoever it is, to use an external email server instead of the local one. Pulling this out of my ass, though.

I think what you should do in this case is forget about cron's mailing function, find a scriptable email client that can work with any usual SMTP/POP/IMAP account (maybe cone, alpine?), then write a script that fetches your external IP address and then runs that email client to send email to you.

Never used any. A quick scan of mutt's manpage doesn't suggest it can use external accounts. In my repos I found the two I already mentioned and also "sendemail" which clearly states it works from the command line (the other two might just have ncurses, interactive interfaces for all I know) and has few dependencies.

Currently, the fastest method is to use the mouse, then paste it into a text editor to use block edit to remove the UI elements, then paste it, but there must be a way to do it.
I could also just create a script where I cut the right number of fields out, then pipe it to xclip, but it seems a bit over the top for something I rarely do.

I don't have problems pasting, I have problems getting stuff copied.
It doesn't matter what method I use to paste, I always paste the last thing I highlighted (xsel) or the last thing I copied (xclip) (or whatever trivial bullshit it is called).
Vim can send the text to 12 other buffers only vim can use, but vim cannot send it to these as visual mode is not the same as selection.
It is a bit weird since it is such a trivial thing you would think they had a method where you could in a single key yank the text and write or pipe it to a file.
It seems like a thing vim could do. with or without a graphical toolkit.
