I have a bunch of .mkv files. They contain multiple audio and subtitle tracks. I want to remove everything but the Japanese audio and the English subtitles, what is the best way to go about doing this without re-encoding and worsening the video quality?

I mostly want to do this because MPC won't default to the right subs because the Signs/Songs are also designated as English and is preferred in the other.

Ideally the program should be able to do this in batches.

hi guys, i got my work laptop reinstalled, because they decided to change domain and log-in information. It's windows 10, but I lost a very neat little functionality, and I finds its lack disturbing:
I have This PC / Explorer pinned to the taskbar at position 1, and I used to be able to press WinKey + 1 to open a new "This PC" window. Before resorting to PXE, BIOS did see the USB installer, but the installer wouldn't into USB3 support (even after throwing drivers into boot.wim & install.wim), resulting in the installer not seeing itself after booting. 10/10 retarded, but that's how it went. So you got a heatsink too? Seriously, get involved with the OC dude. It's not hard at all, I put my 2.4GHz stock Q6600 on 3.9GHz just tinkering & self-teaching.
Grab prime95 or some other CPU-stressing benchmark tool, establish a baseline performance level for stock clocks.
Look up your RAM timings (usually just on the sticker on the side) and set that exactly in BIOS (not auto).
Increase multiplier, reboot & run prime95 for a few minutes. Repeat until it crashes, increase Vcore a bit, repeat until Vcore is at whatever ark.intel.com says is max for your CPU.
When you find as fast as you can run your CPU (keep an eye on temp max ~80°C after a few minutes' full load, else reduce Vcore) start to increase FSB, but reduce multiplier to keep same CPU frequency. Add a little NB voltage if necessary, max is probly in your mobo manual. Every iteration, make sure you can boot & run prime95 for a bit. When you think you're happy with a tune, run prime95 overnight to make sure it's stable.
If you make small incremental steps, and google each setting, RTFM, you'll be fine.

I think it is possible to slipstream programs into Windows installations, there are some tools out there for it but I don't know the names off the top of my head.

Also there are tools like ninite that are nice to facilitating installation of multiple common programs at once. (Though you're forced on default settings so I sometimes stick to manual installs for certain things even if they are on the site.)

Yeah, no reason why not I guess. Just find some backup program you like and use it to make the disk image after setting everything up how you want. Not sure what the best such program is, I've used Acronis True Image (kind of dislike the interface which has a tendency to hang but it did eventually make my backup, probably wouldn't have used it if I didn't have a free key bundled with my SSD) and another tool the name of which escapes me right now which I think was free and better.

yeah, mpv is available for windows, linux and macos. i run it on windows no problem. it's the best video player out there but desu this discussion gets too autistic past a certain level aka if you're okay using vlc there probably isn't anything about mpv that will sell you on it over vlc. just try it out for the subtitle problem and if it doesn't render the character properly still you can either assume it's the subtitle itself or go ask the developers about it over at mpv's github page (a lot of people there are heavily into anime so they can certainly guide you in the right direction)

Unzipping files in linux gives me garbled text for japanese, how do I fix this?
I can read and write files with japanese text fine in linux, and I can unzip the files correctly in windows.
For my locale I have the jp-utf8 encoding so I don't see where I've gone wrong.
Is there a way to get this to work? I am using Ubuntu, using the default archive manager.

The drive is removable, but my problem isn't getting an OS installed on the drive. The problem is BIOS doesn't recognize Win7 or Win8.1 as directly bootable OS's. Debian works, in a few minutes I'll know if openSUSE works, and I assume Win10 works as it's the only stated supported OS on the hp website.

What I'm hoping to achieve is to let GRUB convince BIOS it's ok to load OS's, then switch the default to Win7 in the GRUB menu.
This failed with debian, as BIOS refused to get over the fact Win7 was registered in MBR. Not sure why I expect openSUSE to go any differently as it also uses GRUB2, but I'm pretty much out of ideas for fooling this hackjob of a BIOS into running an otherwise perfectly valid windows installation.

PrtScr is fine but I like the screenshot options that programs like ShareX give you so you can crop without having to open it up somewhere and then having all game screenshots be inside my one screenshot folder instead of their default game directories. Also having a single hotkey for it makes it easier for a whole screen capture.

I've got an MSI GTX 1070 Aero (reference card) GPU. This thing is getting hot as fuck and throttling me in this heat we've been having. Case has decent airflow. Any good ghetto solutions to cooling these things besides not buying them in the first place?
