I've tried rotating my monitor vertically, but with a 40" 4k, you either move your eyes or your neck up and down.

It's unnatural to move your eyes up and down totally independent of your neck, and your neck gets more tired looking up and down. You end up putting your windows in the middle of the screen to economize neck movement.

Horizontally, your neck and eyes don't get as tired because the have a higher "range of comfortable motion".
