I don't know if this question belongs here, if not, ignore me or let me know

I've just purchased these nice headphones, and now I need a DAC
I don't have tons of money so the best price/quality DAC that you can think of may be helpful.

Something good enough to boost the quality to acceptable levels, not too expensive and for PC use

Thank you beforehand

Yeah but at least it's not bass heavy. All the frequency graphs I looked at for closed back over ear headphones show that the ones with prominent treble also have prominent bass. To be expected because the seal of closed back lends it's self to bass

So I bought the SHP9500S few days ago.
These headphones are actually alright. I don't really have any some form of regret after buying them anymore. Just had to listen to some other genre of music to appreciate these bad boys.
Super comfy and the sound feels good.
>>
>>60653327
Thank you. That's actually very kind.
Uhh to offer my 2 cents I really enjoyed my Sony MDR 7506. Just a heads up. If you're at a desk where the cord really doesn't have anywhere to sit, you're gonna knock them off a lot. They took a hell of a beating before one of the ears stopped playing.
Loving my sennheiser hd 598 cs right now. Although I don't enjoy the short cord, the longer one is only for the big headphone jacks, of which, my computer has none and since I'm a faggot and can't fix my computer's front headphone jack, it now sits sideways so it can reach. But this is because I'm too lazy to order a plugin so it'll fit my computer.
>>
I'm hoping you guys can help me since I got no replies in the stupid question thread.
I got a pair of sennheiser 558's and I'm confused about which bit and hz to choose in windows.
The default is 16 bit 44100hz (cd quality)
>>

Just choose the highest one and get it over with

I'm trying to choose between the NVX XPT100 and the ATH-MSR7 for an entry into this meme.
Are the extra shekels worth it, or is it well past the point of diminishing returns?
>>
Are Dacs and such worth it? I have the X2, and its generally ok, but will a dac improve my sound or is it just placebo?
>>
>>60653628
Lie to yourself like this. Say you're going to buy the NVX XPT100s this week, but don't. Then when next week rolls around, I hope you get to keep at least $100 of what you make a week for toys, buy the ATH-0MSR7s on the principle that you would have spent ~$100 last week, but you didn't and now you have it + your cash now to buy the better ones.
Plus the retail therapy will kick in and you'll feel better for buying big boy headphones, nothing against the NVX XPT100s, but when you spend more money you feel like you have nicer stuff.

At least that's how I do it.

Sleeved my K7xx and ModMic cable together today.
Worked pretty well but I couldn't find a good way to seal the ends of the mesh.
Don't think I can get shrink wrap big enough and the Velcro cable organizers look tacky.

Did the ATH-M50x go up in price or what? It's $50 more compared to a few years ago...

It's a different model number, but seems to be the same thing.

M40x is the better deal now.
If you don't want shitty pads, go for the CB-1. A lot of people recommend the XPT100/HM5.

Would a DAC fix this? Since I don't get any noise with my phone that means it has a much better DAC doesnt it?
>>
>>60657169
>Since I don't get any noise with my phone that means it has a much better DAC doesnt it?
Or not. The computer's might be better. But that's irrelevant if they screwed up and didn't isolate it properly. Effectively, you're getting shit noise, so yeah... your phone does it better.
Thankfully, solving this issue is as easy as spending a little money. I suggest the Schiit Fulla 2. Note they don't sell these on amazon, Schiit is a company that does direct sales, which is why its devices do not cost twice as much as they do. And yes, the name really is a joke on shit, but they make good hw.

Hey hpg, my old amplifier just came, i am the guy who decided to get the hd600 for music, vr, asmr use
and hook them to a good old amplifier that my father used to use for his speaker system.
So the model is hk6300 and now i'm looking on how to connect it to my computer.
He used to use a 3.5mm male - 2x RCA male for audio input for his phone/laptop, would that work well?
The amp on the back just has a bunch of RCA females so there doesn't seem to be any alternative to that.

>>
>>60664431
Can you stop these shitty blanket statements? Nothing inherently wrong with "on board". Motherboards can have a good DAC, an excellent even. The chip being inside your PC isn't telling of the the quality just like having an external unit isn't necessarily any better. DA-converter is just about the least of the worries in a modern audio setup. Being better is relative, nobody knows a damn thing about the gear at question here.

I wouldn't waste time looking at a frequency response graphs. They are inherently flawed. You cannot possibly display all the traits of a headphone on a single visual plot. Headphones need to heard. Frequency response graphs don't tell you about the soundstage, the speed, the detail, the imaging of a headphone. If anything, it should be used as a basic idea of how a headphone's sound signature is.

>What does this mean for music with bass guitars? Even if they're not the focus, I want to at least hear them being plucked.
Bass guitars are fine, it's just EDM which focus on a lot of fast and I guess differently textured bass notes which suffer on the HD600.

>What about the soundstage when listening to classical music reproductions? Watching movies?
Soundstage is straight up shit on the HD600. If you like soundstage, look elsewhere.

>What are some headphones that come close to HD600's tonal balance but without its weaknesses?
HE400i, AKG K612, DT880, but they all have different weaknesses of their own.

>>60670404
Sorry, let me make this clearer; there is still bass on the HD 600s, but sub-bass is basically non-existent and bass as a whole isn't exactly hard hitting. The bass is still there, and you would still hear it, but it is never fully present. That's probably the best I can describe it; sorry.

HD600 bass and subbass is nonexistent and masked by its midbass hump. Your brain can actually perceive pitch without the fundamental frequency, so the bass HD600 shills hear is actually harmonic distortion. However, because your ears are bad at localizing low frequencies, HD600 autists will claim the harmonic distortion is "tighter, more accurate bass" and that it "sounds better and not muddy."
>>
>>60670849

I'm eyeing the DT880 now, but I've read contradicting review about tonal balance and the beyer's 8k peak.

Rather than poor build quality, it's more like a lottery. If you get a pair which works perfectly it'll most likely last quite a long time.

>>
>>60670250
It isn't. It has roll off, it notably lacks sub bass but it has boosted upper bass. It does not sound like "no bass" at all, not even bass light because of the boosted upper bass and rest of the response being quite neutral. This is /hpg/ hyperbole yet again. The headphones have extension down to 20 Hz with lowered sensitivity depending on the seal you get. Due to the design and clamping the headphone seals very well once realized ears. If you are worried, use an equalizer or pick another pair of headphones that has different performance in lowest octaves. The sub bass range in general has a pretty small impact on overall tonality and does not make it unsuitable for specific types of music, especially with the sort of roll off you see with HD 600.
>>

The "literally no bass" troll literally interpreted sennheiser's logo as the HD600 FR.
>>
>>60673439
On real ears*
>>
>>60670415
Because HD 600 has sub bass. Roll off doesn't mean no sub bass. It might indicate bass light response but the HD 600 doesn't sound like that either because the midbass is a bit forward. Does it lack sub bass? Yes, clearly, although measurements might lie a bit here due to additional ear pad leakage. Does that it mean you can't hear sub bass? No. Is it something you could fix with an equalizer? Yes.

Can't believe this sort of shit is an argument here. Ported loudspeakers with their sharp cut in bandwidth after the port resonance can actually sound like there is no sub bass at all. It's the type of listening experience where you hear every other note in a dnb bass line. Pic related doesn't happen with headphones.

I'm thinking about getting them but reviews are mixed. Some say they are great, some say they suck.
What i'm looking for: good, clean, precise and not muddy/bloated bass, decent mid range, clear treble and all of it packaged in a closed, portable headphone. MSR7's should fit that.. kind of, right?
Some more info: I like DT770/880/990 sound signatures, dislike Bose and Beats, Rock Zircons are nice but fragile, Sony MDR-1A is too mudy imho, ATH-M50x.. idk, only listened once to them, Fidelio X2's are nice, but can't remember much since i only listened once to them, liked them though.

As long as it's decent i'm fine with it. I won't be weaing them for 4 hours straight. My main concern is sound.
For example, i directly compared my DT990's against a friends MDR-1A's and on some (mostly rock/metal) songs with heavy/constant bass guitar the MDR's turn the music into a mudshitfest.
Sabaton - Attero Dominatus turned into Attention Domyanus muddfest and Rammstein - Zerstören was literally zerstört by the constant mud being pumped into my ears.
From what i've read the MSR7's are not muddy at all, they are refined and precise and should be closer to Beyerdynamic bass. I prefer precise, hard hitting quality bass over a sloppy, muddy shitfest.
On the other hand, i've also read that the bass can be a little too little and that the headphones might sound a little thin.
I can live with bright headphones, after all i like DT990's and those chink Boarsemen CX98 or whatever they are called.

You may ask why i chose MDR-1A's as comparison, that's because they were available to compare and also a possible candidate. Also compared to Bose but don't get me started on Bose aka buy other sound equipment.

Yes they are, it's just a special edition. Also great choice.

They're fine, I think the higher priced stuff may not be worth the cost, but the Fulla 2 and Modi/Magni are good values.

>>60682154
Beyer Custom One pro has the DT770 drivers with a detachable cable and leather pads for better isolation.

So Asgard 2 not worth it? Any alternative suggestion with this price tag?

Magni 2 / Objective2

Prove it. You can't, cuccboi.

I never claimed it existed. Second post in the thread. Now prove it doesn't, cuccboi.

>>60683378
I have no business with you, redditor, the burden of proof is on the faggot to prove that soundstage exists.
>>
>>60683421
But I didn't make any claims, cuccboi so the burden of proof is on you.

Burden of proof always lies on with the one able to present proof, who made the initial claim is irrelevant. There is no such thing as anti-proof, you simply cannot prove something doesn't exist. At best you can prove there is currently no way for us to measure it or that our current understanding of the universe does not logically allow for it to exist. Neither is a resolution. On the other hand, verification of existence through irrefutable objective reality (the Oxford definition of existence) is possible.

Waste of electricity for no audible benefit.
Instead, consider Fulla 2, Magni2 or Jotunheim.
