How do I get upload/ratio on RED?

Joined a few days ago and this ratio system seems completely hostile towards newbies. I have a few dozen old CDs that I can rip and upload but looking at the stats of similar torrents already on the site, I don't expect them to get more than 1-2 snatches per year.

A remux is just the bluray or dvd embedded into a mkv container and is not the best version.
A good encoder can encode the bluray and get even better quality than the source by applying filters in vapoursynth or avisynth with half the size, the problem is that the majority of encoders think that handbrake is enough but it isn't.

For me, the issue has been the time to upgrade not the bonus point or snatches. I downloaded about 10TB worth of shit in the first two months and have had it seeding since then.

It seems like a pretty easy system to work your way up, much easier than RED for me so far. Download lots of stuff and make sure to keep it seeded, rake in the bonus points. I did have to download a bunch of trash 100mb files for the snatch requirement on my Elite upgrade though [100mb is the minimum size for a snatch apparently and I kept them seeded for a while to avoid HnRs]

Honestly just having it seeded at all is enough to rack up a ton of bonus points. Even if your connection is slow, they don't track ratio on BTN and no one will get mad at you for a lopsided download:upload as long as you keep stuff seeded. Plus BTN doesn't have any upload requirements for user classes, The data required doesn't discriminate upload or download so download to your heart's content!

Instead of a monthly seedbox cost I would recommend buying a big ass external or slow internal drive for more space. Big external drives are cheap and a fraction of the cost that you'd pay for the disc equivalent of the media you can store on them.

But the blu-ray is already heavily compressed. A truly lossless video would be a 24fps (or whatever recorded) sequence of bitmaps/losslessly compressed images. Which is a fucking lunatic idea.
