Anens i have a very old keyboard with aristotle switches (eartly 90s). Should i try Zealio/Gateron mod with them ? Also 2 keys even though they seem to click they dont register. What is probably wrong ?

>>
Where can I buy a set of stabilizers? It doesn't matter if they're cherry or costar. Also, I'm in the US and would prefer to not have to order from China, but I will if that's the only choice.
>>
>>60283030
First time I've seen a board where the num lock key seems to make sense (I'm assuming it switches between the arrow keys acting as arrows and numbers). Looks pretty good honestly.

On another note, hopefully the chinese can figure out how to make backlit PBT in a few years in a way that doesn't suck. Backlighting's nice, but I'd give it up for better texture any day.
>>
>>60283088
Set I got on are PBT double shot from China. Seem to be about the same quality as Ducky PBT caps. They go for 30 bucks off ebay.
>>
>>60277014
Ahaha that's u/ChucklingKumquat an online personality at /r/mechanical keyboards and one of the funniest dudes around. Met him at a keeb Reddit meet up. Great guy.
>>
>>60283044
And, adding to this, I'd actually slightly prefer costar stabilizers, since I'll need to be able to hack them apart somehow so I can mount them in a 5mm acrylic plate. I think I'll have better luck with this with Costar stabilizers, since their "base" part is simpler. However, I only see cherry stabilizers even on aliexpress.

Hey man you're the guy that linked me my current keycaps I thiink. I posted a couple pics and opinions like 3 or 4 threads ago. They're really good for the money. I want the ones in your picture with the white legends next I think.
>>60279089
Really nice, I love the boards that are bezel-less with just the plate like that and the cable looks good. The mixed up keycaps are triggering me a bit but I don't have great taste.

Anyway, Coolermaster just announced this board. It uses some weird switch but the important thing is no branding except on the keycaps. I know most of us dislike big brands like corsair, cooler master, razer, etc but this is a really nice board for a big brand. I hope it starts a trend because I would have no problem buying it. Do you guys think it's nice?
>>
My old piece of junk (acer ku-0420) just broke and I figured I should move to mechanicals. What would be a good one for someone moving to mechanicals from old flat keyboards? I don't care about LEDs or loud buttons, though some kind of volume control keys would be amazing.
>>
>>60284604
Well, I cloud mention 100 keyboards you might like. Why not go over to amazon or whatever site you like, pick a few models in your price range, then come back and ask about them?
Plenty of boards under $50 these days. Blue switches are clicky, red switches aren't.
>>
>>60284641
That's the problem I have, there's too much to choose from. Feels overwhelming. Gonna keep looking, limiting to red switches should help.
>>
>>60284468
>those red keys
>qwer

>>
What's quietest keyboard I can buy? Videos don't differentiate sounds enough between switches for me. Also, are there keyboards that come with the o-rings already put on?
>>
>>60284659
I understand.
On US amazon specifically some good models would be the DREVO 84, MechanicalEagle Z-77, and of course anything by Qisan.
>>
>>60284292
it seems that all their kits require pcb mounted switches and it seems that the backlighting isn't on the pcb itself so my smd switches would be useless . My gaterons are also plate mounted sooo I would need to buy new switches.

What to do
>>
>>60284747
Give up on tacky RGB backlighting
>>
>>60284723
Those seem pretty good, gonna look into them more. Thank you.
>>
>>60284747
You can totally stick a PCB to the back of some switches while they're mounted on a plate, as long as the plate's flat. Just stick the switches in the plate before soldering the PCB, obviously.
>>
>>60277227
Call me a retard for this. But what keyboard is that?
>>
>>60284747
>my smd switches would be useless
Do you know what smd means? Cause I don't think you do. Smd means surface mounted diodes, or LEds mounted on a PCB.
>>
>>60284995
He's talking about 3-pin and 5-pin switches, which most of the western mech community have taken to calling "plate mount" and "PCB mount" switches respectively, despite the fact that you can use each switch for either. The only thing ever preventing you from using 5-pin switches is PCBs without the holes for the two extra anchoring pins.
>>
>>60285180
yes I know that. I was a bit wrong with my wording but the thing is that I want led on the pcb to uethe full potential of my switches. I dont like led on swtiches since the light isn't diffused enough.

Hey guys

I have one of those GH60 HHKB boards from Aliexpress.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/GH60-HHKB/32719978752.html

It's driving me nuts as I have Win/Meta and Alt swapped on my genuine HHKB. This board doesn't have DIP switches for me to do that.

Does anybody know how I can read the keymap from this board so I can modify it?

Too cheap imo, those caps are thin and nasty, I had a few before.

I know it's unlikely I'll be able to find a doubleshot MAGA but anything other than laser printing on paper thin caps would be neato.
>>
>>60277325
Limp wrists.

Literally.

If you have shitty posture and let your wrists hang down your thumbs will tend to strike the spacebar edge-on instead of from above. This bruises delicate baby hands so they flip the spacebar to face where their thumbs shouldn't be, but are.

Not really. On most cheap keyboard the keycaps are painted black, then a laser burns off the paint in the desired shape.
>>
>>60288226
You're misunderstanding. There's multiple ways to make translucent legends, and as far as I know there's no difference in durability between, say Ducky's doubleshot PBT shine through keycaps and any other doubleshot PBT of the same thickness.

100% + 5 or 6 extra keys to bind (on the left side of the board), along with volume +/- and mute at the top right of the board

I hate to say it but something like pic related maybe? Without all those extra keys at the top though. And backlighting doesn't matter. Again, I fully accept that I am a pleb but I absolutely need a new keyboard.

Because it is a keyboard that is meant to be rack mounted. They can jack up the price because the keyboard is meant to fill a particular need and I doubt that there is a particularly large amount of rack mountable keyboards available. Also it's by Cherry, so even though it has the ML switches it still has the brand name driving up the price.

make sure it's actually the switch that's inconsistent. remove the keycaps and test them so the acoustics don't fool you too much. i thought mine were a bit inconsistent at first but now i don't have any problem with them at all. non-clicky switches will still be "inconsistent" (different keys sounding different) if you try and look for it.

>>
>>60305834
That's accurate pricing sadly. Cherry only makes clears and greens in low volume by special request and that costs a hefty premium. Unless you're buying them by the million for large production runs (which Qsian apparently is not) they're literally several times more expensive than any Gat, and Gats can be had for 20-25 cents in volume.

it's not programmable? they have an SDK for custom lighting but they didn't bother to let you program the keys?
>>
>>60307329
You can also just buy separate mechanical numpads now. I keep mine in a drawer unless I need it. Best of both worlds

Why can't there be more keysets with OS-neutral meta keys, like the diamond key?
>>
>>60308132
The majority have "super", "code", "hack" or a novelty symbol/word for the default OS key and you have to pay extra for Windows, OSX or Linux, what are you talking about?
>>
>>60308146
Most keysets I've found have a Windows key as default. I really like having a diamond key like Sun keyboards for example had.

Might hope in on this, cost is $100 shipped. I'm not gonna camp out reddit trying to hope on a group buy though. I do love my Master Key M but I like MX Clears, my MK Pro M is in browns.

Hey guys I'm a bit of an idiot so apologies in advance. I'm 99.9% sure I'm gonna pull the trigger on the Drevo Gramr but I really want to pick up a replacement keycap set as the font on the stock caps looks naff. Is it as simple as buying any keycap set that works with MX style switches or do I have to take anything else into account seen as the board is compact in its layout?
>>
>>60308779
A non backlit ducky one tkl costs 80€
>>
>>60309126
There are a few nonstandard keys due to the small layout, so you're gonna have to buy the more expensive sets that are compatible

Why have a switch on the keyboard to change between NKRO and 6KRO and so on?
Why not just always have NKRO enabled, why does such a switch even exist?

>>60309728
some OSes have issues with nkro

Alright, now... credit cards are a rare thing here in Germany, but apparently Aliexpress requires a credit card. My mom has one though but refuses to buy off aliexpress after they lost one of her packages. How do I convince her to approve of the purchase?
