This thread is for the discussion of the possible replacement/mirror of the late Nyaa.se (which also hosted Sukebei);

>latest update: nyaa sent an email and confirmed it's gone for good. and yes, it was due to the EU ruling. and no, db is almost surely wiped.

He probabbly just wanted to exit this train, that EU nonsense he is telling is bullshit. He could just move the servers or give away the website with domains to somebody else. As i know only UK now have 10yers in jail for copyright material but UK is not in EU anymore, moreover there are shitloads of trackers hosted in EU and nothing gonna happen. EU is not a country. Someone from germany can't "arrest" someone from Poland or Norway. Only thing they can do is ask as US asks when they want to arrest someone in europe. Their govt can literally say go fuck yourselves and nothing gonna happen.

You should be glad you're not getting arrrested for copyright infringement.

That shit is apparently often punished far worse than high seas piracy where you take hostages and want ransom.

Also, H@H has no CP unless you're in retard land that equals drawn art to actual children. Which AFAIK the USA was not... or has that changed?

The idea seems to be that it sets a "precedent" for copyright laws applying to a srvice that enables accessing copyrighted material.

This is, of course, complete nonsense from a legal perspective because a.) EU law isn't like US law, "precedent" is irrelevant from a legal perspective and b.) the issue with that one was that he made commercial use of that service.
It doesn't really apply to nyaa's case at all, but the owner of nyaa just got cold feet and pulled the plug in advance.

Not state dependent.

This is how it works in the USA:

While(moral crusaders exist){
Legislators pass laws attempting to ban loli manga
The supreme court keeps striking it down because "no real victim" and "first amendment"
}

It's still grey because many activist judges refuse to honor the USSC rulings, but I've only heard of one case actually going to conviction .. probably because the guy's lawyer sucked balls.

Anywhere you want it to be done, start organizing, there must be plenty of major piracy sites out there that would like a safer haven, they just need to do something thatr requires a little effort, which is co-operate.

Poorer, less organised countries that get less funding from the west would be better since the time it would take would be longer for them to intervene and less chance of being bullied to stop it.

Im sure most capital cities around the world have some sort of stable internet connection now for corporate/company use.

I don't think that's how the world works.

If the right (powerful / richer) people in a rich country pressure or bribe Somalia, they'll probably let your servers and whoever maintained them disappear and then bury you when you come to check.

Not to say it's guaranteed (desperately poor countries too have people who think morals and obligations and not letting rich / powerful people walk all over you are a thing), but it could more easily happen there than in other places. Plus your country could also pull various other strings if it cared to.

What ACTUALLY protects us is all the possible trouble and (in democracies) voter butthurt that could start if they took our fun and hobbies and so on away.

That it's not completely legal is only the consequence of a few people having a bit too much influence and us not having quite enough dedication to make it fully legal.... but you'd not want to really piss off a fraction of people this large already.

The real world is like Eve

The further you get from high-sec (first world), the more likely this is to happen.

Just last month some rich saudis bribed corrupt filipinos to detain some woman seeking asylum so they could kidnap her and honor-kill her

Sites that link to video streams and profit from it are subject to criminal charges.

Well, I had an outdated info. SHA-1 does have collisions.
>On February 23, 2017 CWI Amsterdam and Google announced they had performed a collision attack against SHA-1
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SHA-1

SHA-1 is a magnet. I don't know what is used as a unique id in DHT.
https://wiki.theory.org/BitTorrentSpecification#Tracker_Request_Parameters
>>
>>60191664
The upload was taking a while, so he went to bed.
>>
Anons please research ipfs for hosting the magnets.

It is like magnet links but for a structure of files. Each file has a hash which becomes it's "magnet link" or ipfs url and a directory is a list of files with filenames, the list of all files.

So you can have a whole directory filled with files as a URL, and since it is just URLs, you can just open it in your browser.
>>
>>60191684
>teenagers should download porn
>>
>>60191698
The magnet.

Still, in order for an attack to be possible you don't only need to have a collision in the magnet but also in all the little chunks of data each with their own hash.
>>
>>60191575
In your dreams. One can't be smart enough to make a local copy of a website while retarded enough to not compress it in a suitable format and make a torrent out of it afterwards.

which are up to date and I've managed to start torrents from it. My question is, there's supposedly some way to edit them together? Does that exist or do I need to do it myself?
>>
>>60191731
I was building a chinese drawings viewer with it, so you just needed to put the URL and it would download and show the files.
>>
>>60191758
I'm an idiot, what's wrong with zip and what's a better format?
>>
>>60191800
Not him but I imagine the best way would just start a torrent for it, and also if your gonna compress it, use .7z
>>
>>60191755
To answer the original question >>60191056 then:
the client will download the first torrent matching the given magnet/infohash. If it happens to be a collision in the torrent itself, the affected user will consider the torrent misnamed as it will have totally different content (file and directory names, sizes etc.).
If it's a collision in a torrent part, one or more files in the torrent will be fucked and the error will go undetected by the torrent client, potentially fucking up file(s) downloaded by other peers down the line. Nothing catastrophic, considering that part size rarely exceeds 4 MB.
>>
>>60191818
Yea but what's the difference between zip and .7z? Better compression algorithm?
>>
Thanks, Daiz. You finally killed chinese cartoons
>>
>>60191800
ZIP compression is incredibly inefficient compared with 7-Zip and WinRAR due to extremely small compression dictionary size by moder standards (32 KB as opposed to hundreds of megabytes of the other two).
>>
>>60191873
yes
>>
>>60191867
>The error will go undetected by the torrent client

Nope, torrents check the chunks for consistency and if a chunk is bad it will get redownloaded from a different peer
>>
>>60191873
Moreover, ZIP files often have a locale-specific (Japanese) encoding on file names which requires being in the same locale when unpacking, or else the extracted file names will turn into mojibake. The other two store file names in locale-independent Unicode.

>>

It is almost impossible to make a torrent with the same hash and then a chunk with the same hash but different contents.

That too, but there also are just collisions (without being an attack).

Simply generate more than 2^160 different files and hash them with SHA-1. You're *guaranteed* to get at least one duplicate and extremely likely to get many duplicates well before you're done.

Apart from that: 160-bit SHA-1 is used to identify the BTIH of the torrent file, but I don't actually know how many bits Mainline and Kad use...

>>60192397
>>60192437
It is impossible to learn Japanese, anon.
>>
>>60192570
Yep, it can.

But for it to work as such (and not just "indirectly" by the UI decompressing the archive into RAM/a cache the background and then handing you the one file only) the archive needs to be created NON-solid, which is always a bit less efficient.
>>
>>60192600
Even if you dedicate over 5000 hours to learning?
>>
>>60192570
Depends on whether archive in question was created as a solid archive or not.
7-Zip archives are more likely solid while RARs are more likely not (different default settings).
>>
>>60192653
Even the Japanese don't know Japanese
>>
>>60192621
PS: Default on almost all implementations is solid chunks of x MB or entirely solid because, again, it's more efficient than compressing files individually.

The x MB chunks is a common compromise variant. Extracting one file can then just extract the x blocks the file is contained in.
>>
>>60192621
Alright, next question: can 7zip be configured to always create non-solid archives by default, and would they still have a better compression than non-solid RARs?

>>60192674
> Can 7zip be configured to always create non-solid archives by default
I think 7zfm saves the last settings, but I don't think there is a way to prevent an user from changing the settings.

On the CLI or whatever or by hacking 7zfm of course you can just alias 7z.exe with the proper arguments.

And yes, the average compression will still be better than on a non-solid RAR (assuming typical / appropriate dictionary and word sizes and other sane settings, of course).
>>
>>60192674
You can make 7-Zip default to whatever settings you like, but you should use it when you need the smallest possible archive with no chance of it being corrupted ever, since the whole solid block (or worse, archive) is fubar after the point of corruption.
The archive being solid or not only matters when you're packings tons of similar files (like logs or web pages), otherwise compression dictionary size influences final size much more.

When you stop complaining
>>
>>60192202
A few points regarding this: You can protect your identity even if they keep logs.

For example, buy your VPN access token (or credentials) on a public system, making a transfer from an unlinked bitcoin account. You can, for example, purchase wallets on pen drives containing small quantities of bitcoins, which are basically the pre-paid cards of the bitcoin world.

Secondly, there are VPN services that are not account based but token based (i.e., tokens are minted, the hash of which authenticates you as a user - there is nothing that associates the purchaser with the user).

Lastly, there are VPNs that are log free by design; as always, good infosec design means you -can't- log even if you wanted to. Regarding the token system above, preferably there should be no means of associating a sold token with an access hash either.
