The problem is that even tough $8 microphones have nice sound quality, your PC/Laptop has a trash audio chip that ruins the audio, so you always need a good sound card.

The BM-800 + the "8.1" USB sound card (the one with orange buttons) is a great beginners setup for about ~$19 USD if you pick the BM-800 with plastic shock mount and ~$25 if you pick the one with metal shock mount

Oh yes, it's nice and all but quite costly. I don't think I will wear mine out for many years though. The mechanism is so simple and the button closed cover keeps the leather from sliding around and wearing out. They are actually quite good for the price. Taste in audio quality is subjective. For me, the X6 has good bass and average mids and trebles. It sounds good when listening to good classical music.
