30G NIZ (plum?) topre clone just arrived from china. First capacitive board and it is holyfuckingballs levels of smooth compared to cherry reds. This is easily the best keyboard I've ever used bar none.

G20 blanks arriving some time this week, just departed city two hours from my place. Will post pics when they arrive. Can't recommend capacitive switches enough after getting this.

I've got a Microsoft Natural Keyboard Pro, still working like it's new from 1999, complete with a 2-USB internal hub I still use.

Is there a decent <100$ mechanical board which could possibly tempt me?

Haha, OK you got me. The fucking membranes finally came unglued from the board 19 years later.

Seriously though, I'm in college and am fucking broke. I'm using the virtual Keyboard until I get a replacement, but I don't want to buy something that isn't lifetime quality.

I'm looking at getting a 96 key layout, best I can tell is I have to spend a ton of money or get some chink shit. ZZ96 is $250-$300 and GB only, guy doesn't seem to be running another one anytime soon. RS96 is the chink shit, thought I can't find it on Ali anyways. Duck Lightsaver is $600-$700 and also super hard to find.

How do I get my hands on one?
>>
>>59953979
yeah, seems that way- i wanted something spherical anyway... first choice would be SA, but those are apparently super rare for whatever reason

that's why the matt3o drop caught my eye- looks like a similar profile

>>
>>59954091
SA is not rare, but it IS bad.

SA is appealing. It looks so nice. Thicc, doubleshot, hi-profile chunks of plastic? Sounds great, doesn't it? I'm sure it does.

Problem is, they feel awful. They're tall, too tall. Switching between rows feels wrong, it makes you hate typing on a mechanical keyboard. They don't feel right, and they can really make the mech experience feel bad.

Don't do it kid

Plum makes a 96 key keyboard, but it looks like shit. Maybe try an 1800 layout instead since those are cheaper and readily available
>>
>>59954336
Extreme different. All Cherry style switch bottom out feels about 1000x times better than a model M, but cherry browns aren't tactile at all, and buckling springs are fairly tactile

Cherry browns really do feel like reds with sand in them, while buckling springs are very tactile and responsive

TADA68 arrived today.
this is my 2nd mech keyboard, my first being a shitty budget gaymur gigabyte board that died on me.
I wasn't sure if it would feel much different but I was pleasantly surprised today.
I'm not sure if it's the gateron switches or the build quality but it's much more satisfying to both type and game on.
I chose red switches and was anxious that maybe that was a poor decision.
However it feels more tactile than the cherry reds I had in the gigabyte board, which is a refreshing change.

I've fallen for a lot of /g/ memes, some excellent some mediocre.
But this was a good meme and I'm glad I fell for it.

Enlighten me?

I've only tried Blues, Reds, and Browns. Blues were fine but a little loud, reds I didn't like and Browns seemed like they were ok.

What would you recommend?
>>
>>59977700
noppoo nano is a 60% keyboard with a function row on top
>>
>>59977764
cherry sucks
brown bumps are lazily done shit half bumps where they just add a a tiny bit of plastic rather than changing the mechanical contact
>>
>>59977808
>Cherry sucks

What would you recommend then/?
>>
>>59977832
if you want something smooth but still mx for keycaps go gateron
if you wants an actual quiet tactile switch, the bumps on matias quiet clicks are good
I've been shilling them all thread cause I just got one and the difference between my brown board is easily noticeable
>>
>>59977832
the downside of matias is they use alps keycaps which are harder to find and have less variety in what you can find
also you have to order them from a taiwanese supplier which means long as shipping times for the keycaps
also matias make a 75% keyboard themselves

What are Romer G switches like?
>>
>>59977900
Same, I like how the quiet clicks are much more bassy and quiet with their sound. Making a review on mk right now so you will probably see that.
A dampened switch with a click leaf rather than a tactile would be cool to see
>>
>>59977923
Romer Gs function similarly to a rubber dome, as a result they feel like one.
>>
>>59977900
also getting a red "dolch" set from the Tao-Hao ebay supplier (their English format site is a nightmare)
>>
>>59977971
Oh that looks nice, one of the first nice looking alps compatible sets I've seen
>>
>>59978003
yeah, sucks it will take 2 weeks or more to arive from taiwan though

Looking for some advice aesthetics wise. I have a Noppoo choc mini because it has some cool features that are important to me. I don't want to replace it because the board is fine but I want keycaps for it. It's space bar and two shift keys are not standard. I could replace the space bar with a different color but it's going to be like a $20 key.
So right now I have a white space bar and both shift keys are gray. I'm looking for a cheap keycap set that will look good with the gray shift and white space. Any suggestions? I'm in the US
>>
>Budget
0 - 110 USD (would prefer for under 100 USD)

>Location (continent at least)
Canada - willing to import if shipping isn't ridiculous

>Preferred switch type
Something clicky-er than MX blues. MX Blues as a fallback

>Layout
Regular QWERTY

>Form factor
TKL, or anything else compact. I need dedicated: Arrows, Home, End, Delete. Function keys would be nice too.

>Backlight
RGB preffered; if not, either plain white or none at all.

>Previous/current keyboards
Corsair K70, cherry MX Reds - sold, did not like reds
IBM Model M - broke
Ducky Mini, cherry MX Blues - currently using, would like more dedicated keys
Ducky One, Cherry MX Greens - Returned, greens felt less clicky than blues b/c of weight
Razer Ornata - On order for 75 USD, have a week to cancel. Enjoyed the "switch" at my friend's house.

Currently using an old ms keyboard. I wanna try a mechanical keyboard. Can't buy used cuz thrift stores are shit where I live.

worth the price but you do get what you payed for, probably a good keyboard for trying things out
>>
>>59976942
it gets in the way of the mouse. without a numpad you can have the mouse more conveniently placed. you can touch-type numbers, emulate a numpad in a layer (for example jkluio789 as 123456789), and/or use a standalone numpad.
>>
>>59976942
also
>Do you not do work involving math?
if you're doing high-level math a lot of it is just working with variables and if you have a lot of numerical input/output it's automated and copy-pasted or written to a file
>>
>>59971048
That's really gay
>>
>>59978384
for $20 it's probably ok but you might want to upgrade later on if your budget allows

>>
>>59978895
gateron browns are fine to type on.
>>
>>59976942
>Do you not do work involving math?
if you're typing in enough explicit numerical values to warrant a special interface then there's something wrong with your process

the benefit of moving the mouse closer to your right hand is fairly obvious
